Looking very good Hisham!

I second the others Hisham -- just can't imagine how to weather such a complex vehicle.
Here's where am at right now. The base coat is Gunship Grey from a Tamiya rattle can. Followed next by the camo -- flat brown with a bit of black, airbrushed.

Great! It'd be cool to see this finished, K.

Thanks Cristian. Today I've blended the camo and painted the tools.
Next up will be a gloss coat, followed by a general wash.

Interesting camo scheme, Tat! I'm not a Panzer specialist but I can't recall having seen any in this two tone camo.
Great progress eMan! There is still plenty of time to finish.

Thanks Cristian. Up till mid-1940 the official orders were to have a 2/3 dark grey and 1/3 dark brown scheme for panzers. I too didn't know this as well -- based on most black and white pictures, it does not show up clealy, with dust and all. But looking at some pre-war pictures indeed has shown this to be the case. Even some I'd say looked as if applied as hard-edged. First time I did this camo - while I have added some black to darken the brown, it still looks light to me. Anyways I will leave it as is and move to the fun part -- weathering!

Sorry Cristian have just withdrawn due to equipment failure...
In having to drill out the 104 holes for mounting the frontal ERA plates I broke all of my suitably sized (.5mm) drill bits before I got 1/2 way and I am unable to replace them in time (problem living in rural areas)
some of problems

Hisham - Looking great. I really like that IDF color. I'm going to have to build something so I can use that color. Can't wait to see it finished
Tat - That is interesting camo scheme. Never seen that either, but I really like it.

I finished the Dragon/CyberHobby Stug III A. Looking it over I can see that there are a number of things I would have done differently if doing this project again. The chief thing that bothers me now is the tracks. First they are too rusty for a vehicle that is only weeks old when depicted by this model. Second, they are one link too loose.
It has been a learning experience and more recent builds have come out a little better in some ways. Here are the photos that have been uploaded to the campaign gallery:

First of all, thank you all for the encouraging words! You all have some great looking builds going on there.
Now, I think I'm going to call this done.. it's certainly dusty enough... I thought I overdid it a little, but Michael Mass of Desert Eagle Publishing was telling me to dust it some more
Dustin.. I'm sorry I ruined that IDF color with all this dust
So, Cristian, do I have permission to post the final pics in the campaign gallery?

Maybe the suggestion was to add more dust in some areas more than others? Nevertheless it looks quite good for me Hisham.
Sag on the tracks look ok, but I'd have to agree on the rust Paul. The scenario however may be -- an abandoned but new, undamaged vehicle, that was left to the elements thus the rusty tracks.
Congrats on your builds guys!

No, he actually meant to dust the whole thing, and he sent me a pic to show just how dusty these things get.. especially in areas in the south of Israel where the environment is similar to what we have here in Egypt - a LOT of dust covers everything
Anyway, I asked his permission to use his pic here, and here it is...
Compared to the one in the pic.. mine is clean

@Andrew: I'm so sorry to hear about the mishap! We have extended the campaign until mid of October so maybe this would give you enough time?
@Paul: Congrats on the finished build! It turned out really nice! I don't think the tracks are all that rusty. Polishing the ground contact surfaces might improve the look. I think, in a wet, spring/autumn environment this might be OK.
@Hisham: What a beauty!!! Congrats on finishing it! I don't think the dusting is overdone. The color still shows and it brings the elements all together very nicely. You can upload the images, at any time. No need for special confirmation

With dust this thick, no need for any base coat!

This model is from the invasion of France in June of 1940. I lightly dry brushed steel on the high spots of the tracks but have to think that this Stug would have likely seen a lot of driving on paved roads so possibly a heavier polished steel look might be more appropriate. It is worth trying!

Jon - The brownish tan really makes this paint job work. Congrats!
