Looks good, Sal! I always thought these vehicles are much larger...

Hello,
I've now hit the homestretch of my Pz IV A build. Worked on the turret and its internals.
DML sure made this difficult for me -- why make this part that elevates the gun separate Makes me miss those molded on slots where you just pop in the gun.
I spent some time trying to figure this out. No matter how I position it, there is a gap. Not an elegant solution but the styrene sheet closes the gap. From readings I did, DML made errors in the recuperator housing -- so am guessing this is it.
The rest was spent on the turret basket. Had some challenges here, being my first attempt to build one. Lining up the legs on the platform proved tricky. I guess it was more of a user problem rather than the kit
The sub-assemblies dry-fitted:
Am down to the last step in the instructions -- putting on the Magic Tracks and marrying the hulls. Will now have to start painting the sub-assemblies as I progress.
I now count 471 parts used, maintained the part loss at 2.
Cheers,
Tat

Nice and clean build, Tat! Looking forward to see this painted!
Are the tracks already included in that part count? Will you be able to exceed the 500 threshold?

Thanks Cristian! No tracks yet -- I count as I build. It's another 200 or so for the individual tracks up ahead Tat

Hi guys I was going to call the Elefant finished but then I looked at the photos
I think the road wheels need some more wash and I forgot to darken the muzzle
Camo didnt turn out the way I wanted either but with the AM Zimm i didnt want to add a 2nd layer of paint
Comments and suggestions welcome oh and not much time I leave Wednesday for a 10 vacation in Berlin

This turned out really well, Sal! I love the camo scheme, never seen one with this pattern.
If here would be anything to comment on, I'd put some metallic shine to the exposed track sections using a graphite pen but this really just a minor thing.
Enjoy your stay in Berlin and have some Currywurst!

Sal,
Concur with Cristian on wear on the tracks. As a minimum, use a graphite pencil on the grousers for a worn metal look.
Last time I was in Berlin it was a divided city. Wash down your currywurst with a Budvar, the "original" Budweiser, but from Czech Republik (known as Czechoslovakia when I drank a Budvar in Berlin). My wife had her passport stamped at Checkpoint Charlie.

Thank you Cristian.
By the way, it would be good that in the campaign section of the forum, the gallery links were given in the general table for each of the campaign.

Agreed, that'd be really nice. I added the links to this thread and the gallery to the campaign description but it is kind of hidden there.

Thanks for the nice comments! I was happy that I didn't choose the M2A3 with the full interior, maybe for the 1000+ campaign

That new campaign might come sooner that you'd expect! We have less then six weeks to go on this one.
Speaking of which, I think it will be soon time to start discussions about the 750+ campaign so we can start it shortly after finishing this one. What do you all think?

Cristian,
I really like the idea of a 750+ campaign and I would be good for one starting at the same time using the same time span as the 500+ did. December to the end of September seemed to work well.
Personally, I am finishing up a review kit and have already committed to a campaign beginning in September. I prefer to limit the number of models I have in progress at any one time, but if the time frame is long enough I can try to participate.
I know one person is not a reason to hold off on a group build, so I'll keep my eyes peeled to find out what the way forward looks like.
Cheers,
Paul H

Sounds good, Paul!
I was thinking of a start date in October-November with a 9-12 month runtime to give people enough time. The rules will stay pretty much the same as they were for this current campaign.

I like those guidelines and would like to participate with something out of the stack that needs building.
My Stug is all but done. All that is left is the tow cables and the brackets. I have ordered some tools & material to build the brackets ad hope to have all finished by the gong. If not, I'll shoot & post some beauty shots of the Stug without them and declare it finished for the purposes of this campaign.

There is still plenty of time to finish it and the remaining work doesn't sound too extensive.
Look forward to see more of your Stug!

Thanks Christian, I have all the material in stock now, it is just a matter of time. I jumped into TEN of these campaigns and have two more due at the end of the month.
This one will require working with materials I'm unfamiliar with and that may take some time to get right. Of course, the opposite might also turn out to be true. I may wonder why I was ever worried about it at all.
