That's going to be cool!

I wasn't sure what I was going to build for this one but then just yesterday I saw it.


Pegasus Hobbies Haunebu II. Surely something a little different, always found the German "flying saucers" quite interesting.


Kit is in 1/144 scale, total of only 56 parts. Instructions call for a camo pattern of light and medium grey. I think I want to do something different, I'll check out some Luftwaffe camo schemes for inspiration.

WOW! Nice kit, I will be sure to watch you build. Did you see the SC FI movie with the Moon full of German soldiers implanted from WWII?

That is the one, I saw it on Netflix but I thought the name was different.

Progress status. Trailer bed attached to the front boggy. Rear boggy is complete. Just need to add decals.

That flying saucer is going to be so cool! Funny thing, though: Every flying saucer in every Japanese sci-fi movie, comic, game, whatever, all look pretty much just like that!

I am building the ARK 1/35 Valentine IV Mk. III in Soviet markings. Having trouble coming up with a color for paint the Soviets would have painted her in. I've got Tamiya XF-58 Olive Green, XF-61 Dark Green, and XF-62 Olive Drab. I thought the Olive Green would be appropriate, but after looking at other images I'm not sure now.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bob after a quick look around the web I found this tidbit on another site it may be of use. Use Tamiya standard "J.A. Green"--it's a really dark "Dark Green". Lighten with Buff for highlights. Does that seem to be the right colour?

I actually use a Vallejo paint called Russian green funnily enough. Sprays pretty well and looks to be okay as far as shade goes but I'm no armour buff.

Chris, thanks for the help I need to look for my XF-14 to take a look. I stumbled across a link that shows a mix of XF-61 (2) plus XF-65 (1) to make the color.

I will test brush both to see which looks best.

I'm finished with my Truck and Trailers campaign build. Time to start my build for this campaign.

I'll be starting my own build today with the Maquette T-34-85 to which I will be adding an Orange Hobby barrel.

So work progresses on the PCM Hurricane here a few pics to show you what I've been up too. Check out my build log for a detailed account of what I've been doing for the last few days.

Oh wow that's generous Mark! I'm envious of you being near all that precious metal! Having said that can you provide a decent shot of the seat? Does it have it's original harness? And what colour is the interior? This build calls for interior green but I've seen some MkII's that appear a blue gray.

Will try to get some good interior shots. I suspect the harness is not original, as it would probably not pass FAA certification, but someone in the Fighter Factory (our maintenance facility) may know. I should be back out to the museum on 4 Feb. Will that be early enough?

That would be awesome the seat can be put in any time practically so there is no real rush. Other than I'm dying to see pics of the Hurricane.

As you can see by the pics, the kit has a very plain cockpit and seat. Still waiting for paint to get the cockpit painted.



The leading and trailing edges of the wings had a gap all the way around. They need filling.


The tail also needs filler on all edges


Drilled out the tips of the rocket pods.


The nose gear is in two half's. I glued the two half's together and cut one side off so the nose wheel can be placed in later.


Also got the center fuel tank together.


That's if for now.

Greetings.. I didn't see the name ICM on the list but I could have over looked. I'll be entering a Panzer II during the French Invasion. I'm not going to add the figures as of yet. But one of the figures is going to be used in another build.

Okay I managed to throw some paint at the cockpit today firstly a coat of black Vallejo undercoat sprayed from the underside up and a coat of Tamiya's cockpit green sprayed down from the top. Using a technique I saw in Matt Odom's (Scrodes) double 1/32 scale Zero build the idea is to spray the top coat in the direction of falling light thereby creating shadows with the black undercoat. It's turned out fairly well I also masked where the I.P. will sit and the points where the cockpit will attach to it and the armoured headrest.

I've also undercoated the wheel wells and the props. While I'm speaking about the props I think the instructions have got it wrong with what backplate goes with which prop blades. The instructions would have you use the Hamilton blades which have a notch out of them with the back plate that has narrow semi circular mounts. This would make attaching them to the back plate a total BEYOTCH as you had a flat surface attaching to a concave one. It would seem logical to use the other plate with a raised prop boss section with the flat top, essentially gluing two flat surfaces together. Which is precisely what I've done is it right? I certainly believe so.

I was able to make some progress over the weekend.

Now with some paint and primer.

Okay so I've got the cockpit in place and a coat of silver on the wheel wells. Next up several washes in the pit and in the wells some paint wear in the cockpit and I'll attach the wheel wells to the bottom wing and attach it to the fuselage.

I started my Maquette T-34-85 this weekend, and let me tell you: It takes the concept of rubbish to a whole new level. Even after all my frustration with my on-going DML Kettenkrad build, this kit redefines 'sucky'. Will hopefully get some photos uploaded before too long.

As promised, here's a shot of some of the road wheels on the T-34 to give an idea of the problems in store for me:


Pretty horrid stuff. I thought briefly about getting resin replacements, but apart from not wanting to toss any more money at this kit (after already investing in a brass barrel), I felt like the quality control of this old Russian kit is somewhat reminiscent of the quality control in Soviet era factories so what the heck.

With some decent weathering it should be passable. Of course, with my weathering who knows...
