As promised, here's a shot of some of the road wheels on the T-34 to give an idea of the problems in store for me:
Pretty horrid stuff. I thought briefly about getting resin replacements, but apart from not wanting to toss any more money at this kit (after already investing in a brass barrel), I felt like the quality control of this old Russian kit is somewhat reminiscent of the quality control in Soviet era factories so what the heck.
With some decent weathering it should be passable. Of course, with my weathering who knows...

HI Mark I feel your pain! Some of the first ICM kits I got were similar some were perfect others farrrrrr from it. Time to try modelling wet mud over your road wheels and tracks??

That or snow. One good thing is that the wheels seem to be reversible so I should be able to pick and choose how to mount them so that the worst offenders are facing inboard.

After last nights effort the wings are on and the cockpit and wheel wells have a wash on them. I did however neglect to paint the lower wing so I'll make an attempt to deal with that later tonight.

Dry fitting the engine compartment. Everything looks to fit nicely.
Of course, once the rear deck is installed, everything is hidden.
I'll glue everything in place, but won't spend any time painting the parts that won't be seen.

Mark that's an awesome little kit it's a shame all that detail simply gets hidden.

Finally got tracks installed on one side. Personally, I hate individual links. Still need to adjust the fit a bit.

Indy links can indeed be very frustrating at times, Mark, but I will trash kit rubber bands for indy links every time. For me it's worth the time and effort, but I know that's not true for everyone--to each his own!
Your tracks actually look really good apart from the extra sag below the drive sprocket. I think if you take two links out from right in front of the first road wheel you'll be able to tighten that up nicely and get a good fit around the sprocket.

Looks like I won't be completing this build. As I said, I detest individual track links. Absolutely no patience for them. This is what happens when a build meets the wall. This kit will go where it belongs, in the trash.
On to the next build.

Made some more progress on my own build. The kit comes with nylon mesh for the engine intake cover, but I find nylon to be ridiculously hard to work with and the cover itself was too thick to look right. So I whipped out the dremel to thin the cover, installed brass mesh and made some new stiffeners from the remains of a beer can. Much better than the original:
