A little more progress on my beast. The filling, sanding, and reconstructing with plastic card continues. Never ending story apparently.

To break the monotony I have constructed some of the weapons. the barrels on the two gatling guns needed replacement. Looking at the picture I still need to align a few things.

More to follow as I progress

Thanks, Paul. I have not decided yet. I am learning towards the space wolves chapter or the Ultra marines. Not sure yet.

I have finished all the weapons now with the exception of the multi melta guns on the front.
Still a lot of sanding and filling remains. Hope to get some done over the weekend.

Some refreshing new look...
My T-35 progresses slowly, I've drilled all the friul track links (there is A LOT) and constructed the track - this time without CA glue and it works! And spares a lot of time...

The tracks look really nice. Did you have to drill each link?

My Mastodon is now ready for primer. I am sure more sanding will follow as primer always reveal a lot of missed areas.

Zsolt - Your T-35 is looking great! I really like Fruils and have a set for my own T-35 should the kit tracks turn out poorly. How did you build them without CA glue? Do you remember how many links you ended up using? Your track tension looks just right.

I am using a standard mix of 50% milliput and 50% greenstuff. I find greenstuff adds a good flexibility while you work with the putty, while the milliput ensures it dries up real hard so it can be sanded after it has dried.

Requires some more work to first mix milliput, then mix greenstuff, then mix the two together, but I think it is worth it.

And yes it requires a lot of work and putty!

I've read on some of the forums (don't really remember, where) that in case of the longer, heavier Friul tracks it is enough to put in the wire "pin" and the weight of the track itself holds it in place.
My technique was to cut 1-2mm shorter wire pieces than the full length and put them in the hole fully with the end of the tweezer.
In this case I had no work with cutting the too long wires after gluing - once the shorter wire slipped fully into the hole, it doesn't fell off. Tadaaaammmm

Regarding the link numbers: I have no idea, I've made two equal lenght just a little shorter than the final and the last 4-5 links on both were attached with constant checking on the running gear to look right. But my son is just learning the numbers so I can offer him something chocolate-like to do the counting for you

@Jesper: yes, all of the links has to be drilled but carefully not to drill fully 'cause the links are separated to left and right side tracks and the track pin is molded on.... my bad luck was that I had two bags of left hand side tracks and I bought it second hand so haven't tried to contact the producer - the difference is hardly visible. Especially after weathering.

I believe they are referred to as mirrored tracks. I know some Tigers have a set from them.

Ok, i'm actually getting a 'compatible' entry that isnt idiotic at best (Ah, M60 = Landship... Such a technicality)
I've got a Takom St. Chamond on order for next month that I'll be able to work on, as the Chi-Ri went nowhere yet.

My latest build was the Tamiya Jagdpanzer IV L/70 and that Friul set was this right-left handed track type. The most important feature of them is that you should not drill the "outer", bigger hole of the links fully as Friul molded the track pin ending on them - according to the side.

As far as I know ALL Fruil sets are supposed to be handed. It even mentions on the box that they have a set for each side. They are packaged in two different bags to keep them sorted. Lately several of my sets have had the two bags but both bags contained sets for only one side. I haven't beefed about it, just muddied up the tracks so the lack isn't obvious.

I'm building a set of Soviet T-26 tracks for a Polish 7TP kit for the POLAND 1939 campaign. I'll soon find out if they are handed or not . . .

Yup, I'm pretty sure I've found my entry! I've been on a slight WW1 obsession lately, So... Timing, lol.
Only problem is that I'll have it halfway through next month, and, a bit embarrasingly, I've yet to try weathering at all (In fairness, Life decided to be problematic just after I painted my first model!)... So, It's pretty likely that I'll have it built + painted, but I'll have to learn quick to get that done before the end date!
And getting/uploading pictures is liable to be 'funny', Though I shouldnt have any issue there.

Random question, would a FT-17 be valid for this campaign? I picked one up a few weeks ago, and I'm probably going to build it as soon as I finish the Challenger I'm working on (For the last 6 months...).
It seems like it'd be stretching 'landship' a bit far though.
Either way, Still getting the Chamond next month as it looks like a pretty simple build (No PE!)

Sorry, the FT-17 is a bit too far of a stretch.

This is a great place to learn weathering. It is quite an art, one I have only just started myself. Make it easy on yourself and do just the amount that strikes you as right. Look at the models others have build for inspiration. If it looks right to your eyes, it will be right. The big thing is to start and not be too worried about making mistakes. You will learn by trial & error and we are all here to support you.

I assumed that myself, just had to make sure. Still might drop a few progress pics here as a test though! As old as the FT is, it's a bit too 'modern' looking. It's not going to stop me from making sure I get it right and enjoy the build

Fair enough though, my 'goal' for the Chamond is weathered enough that it looks done (Light dust, a bit of mud on tracks / lower hull), and maybe go a bit crazy on it later. Overall I'm not looking for an insane amount of wear anyway, Really hard to estimate though.
But hey, Good excuse to figure it out!
