Would this include the M3 Lee, Char bis, and US M6 heavy tank?
Yes, yes & maybe. I had to look up the M6 om Wiki but didn't see more than one turret or sponson. Do you think it should qualify? It certainly has the coolness factor in spades . . .
It has two guns in the turret (76.2mm and 37mm) along with a dual-50. Cal mount in the hull front IIRC.
To me it looks decently valid, if a bit on the line, as it reminds me of a "nearly-reasonable" Neubaufahrzeug, or however that's spelt.

How about the T-26, 7TP and Vickers multiple turret light tanks? The US M2A3 light tank with two turrets, the M2 mediums with one turret but five machine gun barbettes around the hull.
In the 1930s multiple turret tanks and boxy hulls with machine guns on all sides were the thing.
I might be up for this as I have a second M3 Lee with after market Girls und Panzer markings.

Just picked up an ICM T28 cheap, so I'll go with that! I think my scratchbuilding will be used up in another campaign ;-)

Yes, these would all be great choices. I just looked up the M2 on Wiki and found they were used on Guadalcanal. Is there a kit of it?

Thanks for the pictures above, they are certainly Landships. A T-28 will be perfectly. I have been eying them myself but haven't actually built one. I look forward to seeing how your T-28 develops.

It would be PERFECT! While it was a "paper panzerski" it certainly fits in with the spirit of Landships.

I think we need to expand the definition of Landship somewhat. There are a number of beasts that do not have turrets or sponsons but are so obviously true Landships that we simply must include them. The A7V for example. A Landship is a concept or spirit rather than a specific time or place. The idea had pretty much run its course by the beginning of WW2 but of course many were still in service or in the pipeline as the war broke out. As Wiki said in the write up about the US M6:
"Disadvantages of these "land dreadnoughts", namely their excessive size, difficulty in coordinating actions of the crew, and high production costs, led to abandonment of the concept . . ."
To these reasons might be added weight & size making transportation difficult and the progression of anti-tank weapons which were increasingly able to deal with large slow moving vehicles.
Let's keep the idea of multiple sponsons/turrets but keep thing loose enough to include other vehicles that seem to fit in with the Landship concept.

We now have 10 folks who have expressed an interest in this Landship campaign so I have written up a prospective set of campaign guidelines. Please look them over and make any suggestions or comments that might make this campaign better and more enjoyable. Here are my thoughts:
_______________________________________________________________
Time - As soon as permitted and going for 9 months or so.
Operational Overview
The Landship campaign is about the concept of a land tank operating as if it were a naval vessel "sailing" majestically over the battlefield with all guns blazing. Multiple turrets and sponsons are typical but not required. There is also a light division which includes small tanks that have multiple turrets/sponsons.
Campaign ribbon - A silhouette of a Landship
The Rules and Regs
Rules:
A photo of the final build MUST appear in the campaign gallery to qualify for a ribbon.
Kits should not be started before this campaign, please post a photo showing the unbuilt kit and some sort of dating device..
One build - one campaign, models should be built for this campaign alone.
The model would need to be built and painted before the gong to get the ribbon.
Modelers of all skill levels are welcomed.
Please post in-progress photos, we want to enjoy your build with you.
Models from any nation or time are permitted as long as they meet the concept of a Landship. Whiffers are welcomed as long as they reasonably fit in the conceptual/historical context.

Seems like those rules are fine.
Though it feels pretty "on-the-line" to count the M48/M60s, I'm not complaining if that's still fine, as that's my only possible entry, but still, feels funny to have it 'based' on Landships as opposed to multi-gun / multi-turret / etc. As all Landships have multi-gun / multi-turret (Correct me if im wrong there*), but not all multi- vehicles are Landships.
Just my thoughts though.

And good thoughts they are. My original title was "Two Heads are Better than One." Only after some reflection did I realize that the real focus needed to be on a concept. Some Landships have no turrets or sponsons, others are very small yet still retained elements of the Landship concept such as multiple turrets.
Seeing we are not tied to a special geographic or temporal location I feel that we should keep our mission statement loose to include all sorts of vehicles even if they only retain elements of the original concept.
I would like to include the M48/M60s and any other postwar vehicles that fit the description. This campaign is about learning something about the way folks thought & acted in the past and to allow us to enjoy ourselves planning and building our models.
Please feel welcomed to join in with your M48/M60.

Sounds great to me, I was just in a 'picky' mood after a weekend of helping a friend move back into his house after a 3-month leave, so my OCD was still on full-alert for anything odd
Nothing was really meant by it.
I'll certainly be joining with my M60A1 though, It's going to be a couple months before I can really get started, but I'm pretty eager for it! At worst, I might put the wheels and searchlight together beforehand.
Never saw a landship that lacked the "multi-" part of the design myself though, aside from, say, the TOG II. Which, almost surprisingly I dont think there's a kit of?
Certainly is a bit difficult to get a title that has the feel of both themes though. Current one seems the best, really!

With the model companies putting out so many great new kits I can only hope that the TOG and the A1 Independent will be on the docket in the near future. Who could have guessed at some of the models we are enjoying now just a few years ago?

True, I'd never have expected to see an IT-1 at all. And never a T-14 nearly as quick as it was released (Examples I have waiting to be built*). It's certainly nice to see a few lesser known and new vehicles in a good timeframe!
Can't say I'd get a TOG or A1E1 myself (Looking at shelf space here!), but I'm sure alot of people would go crazy with "what-if" paint schemes on them, due to their landship look.

We're officially a campaign now. We start December 1, 2016 and run until September 1, 2017. Now its time to get our Landships and other multi-headed monsters ready for construction. I can hardly wait!

Ha, yeah... It took me a second to notice I had to sign in again, not my best moment! I didnt know how to delete my post (Didnt look if I could*), so I added the "edit:" part.
I should 'probably' have poked around the page for an extra minute before posting, really.
Edit: I guess delete is an option. Future reference and all.
