Mr. K - Your M-3 is really impressive! Your brass shells are particularly nice, how did you paint them?

Thank you, Jesper and Paul.
About shells' color, I used old enamel paint Testor 1144 Gold after priming them with Mr. Surfacer Black 1500.
Oh, I had a trouble with Academy's vinyl tracks, thick and unflexible.
Processing and the result.
I'll give it a matt cover next week.
Regards,
K.

Looks very cool, Mr. K!
The deadline is creeping nearer and although I only need the detailed weathering there is a still a lot to do on my kit.
Is it possible to get a two week extension to the campaign? I really do not want to rush this thing.

Mr. K - Great save on your tracks. I would have been in a tizzy about them.

Will two weeks be enough to complete your projects everyone? I can ask for two weeks extension but would not want to go to that well more than once. Please let me know your thoughts . . .

My own Zvezda T-35 project is progressing. It is a big kit with a lot of parts and due to the way the original was built requires some careful planning before construction. The undercarriage is a case in point. It is contained in boxlike structures that can only be viewed from the bottom or from a gap between the deck and the side armor plates. There is no way to paint and weather this after construction so it has to be done before assembly. Here are some pics showing a trial assembly and then the painting & construction of these bits:

The construction of the tracks was time consuming but straightforward. They are of the link & length type and very well engineered. The look is just right but for the lack of sag on the sections below sprockets. Those sections are molded flat rather than with a realistic curve. Still, these tracks are included with the kit and are WAY quicker to build than my usual Fruils. Zvezda did a great job.
Another area that they did well were the decals. Long stringy decals can often be a real PIA to apply or refuse to settle into detail because they are too thick. These fit pretty well needing only a bit of end trimming. Micro Set was used to help position them and they were pressed into the detail with a paper towel & fingers & thumbs. A later coat of Micro Sol softened them further but they did not krinkle up at all. While still somewhat soft I pressed them again with paper towel, fingers & thumbs. They now look pretty good and I look forward to seeing how they look after a couple of coats of Dullcoat.
Here is where the project is now:

Maybe just go for a month extension to be on the safe side?

What do you think folks? We have one builder who would like an additional month. Opinions?

Two builders - both me and Ramananthan.

Make that three.....

Thanks for the opinions. I will request another month. No guarantee it will be granted but we can ask.

Awesome. Thanks for the extension

John came through for us again, our thanks to him.
My own T-35 build would have just about made the deadline but having more time will be welcomed to allow more careful finishing.

That one month extra saves my project... due to family issues I had no time recent days and next week be also difficult. But until October my T-35 will be nice and weathered
cheers,
Zsolt

My T-35 project also can use the extra time. I could hurry it along, but there is time now to do the work at a more measured pace.

As it turned out, I do need the extra time to complete my T-35. We have been suffering a long intense heat wave and it has impossible to dull down the gloss coating over top of the decals. Everything else is done. So final weathering & assembly will have to wait. Here is a pic of the finished tracks and the inside of the side armor which will barely be seen after the plates are attached.

Looks good, Paul. Looking forward to see more
I have finished my Forgeworld Mastodon. It is a beast! Weights 1,5 kg when finished. Fit is not very good, but in the end I am satisfied with the result.
Comments welcome.

Jesper that is a truly impressive beast! Excellent painting and weathering all around. This should free you up for the sci fi campaign, right? ha

Thanks for the comment, Shawn.
The sci-fi campaign is indeed among the next projects in line. I am think WWII 1947 German walkers, but have not decided yet. Could also be some Star Wars stuff.
I have had problems uploading to the gallery. Anybody else have this problem??

@Jesper: 1.5 kg?? That is some really heavy stuff I like your mastodon, nice finish there. Do you plan a base for it?
@Paul: how will you put the tracks on at the end? Isn't it fragile? The color variation (or dirt variation, depending on viewpoint ) is nice on that. I can hardly wait to see your T-35 finished!
My project jumped a lot forward this weekend - I finally had two hours for the base paintjob. I used AmmoMIG 4BO paint set and I am quite pleased both with the finish and both with the paint quality itself. I am not a fan of color modulation but this time I tried some contrasting between the lower, darker areas and the higher, more light exposed ones.
Cheers,
Zsolt
