Sal, you shaked well that box. The result is convincing
I do my T-35 very slowly due to lack of free time but in small steps I've started the PE work on the upper hull.
Buying the Voyager PE sets was a waste of money for sure. The HB T-35 provides very nice PE with the kit. No need for anything else.

Admittably, I dont think I'll actually be able to finish in time now.
I did get my airbrush figured out, along with getting my Merkava painted up (Looks so much better than brushed...), so that's not an issue.
But I both ended up clogging my airbrush to a point where I need to get cleaner for it, and I "might" have gotten 2 kits instead of the Chamond I was planning on. Specifically a Meng Tiger II and Takom's Maus V2. (Admittably an impulse buy)
I'm honestly not sure if a Maus would be 'valid' (... 2 guns, massively oversized... No sponsons / mini turrets though), but the added "bonus" of seeing how photobucket is lately has certainly made me feel like I should just wait to see how it goes before posting builds... As I never learned it in the first place, so I think I'll wait and see what the solution is!
Also, RIP old build logs. Loved looking at those for inspiration / advice, but there's a few messed up ones now, to say the least.

John, Karl, you are welcome.
On the meantime I summed up our summer family programs and got to the conclusion that I can hardly finish my T-35 in time... I like to have some interior in my models and in this case we have 5 turrets, all of them completely empty. My inner-beginner-scratchbuilder told me to try to fill them with details.
The machine gun turrets are quite an easy cake: a machine gun, a turret rotating wheel, a vision port and some dozens of drum ammo holders... I have the basic pieces plus some turned barrels at hand and I'll create things from plastic pieces, I hope, this week...

I look forward to the interior build pictures! I would have liked to try that myself but I had no idea even where to begin. I've only recently gotten the courage to attempt some serious scratch built details, and those have been done on a $10 model. To butcher an expensive T-35 is not my style (yet)!

Karl, with the interior you can not go wrong
If you feel that the result is not as nice as you expected, you simply close the hatches and tadaaaammm
problem solved
The main problem is that there is hardly any photograph of the interior of this big beauty. Thought the turrets are completely same as the T-28 and T-26 turrets the amount of photographic (or blueprint) reference material is very scarce...
So I will use a lot of "artistic freedom" when I build.

I'm just back from a two week road trip and bustin to get back to a little modeling. I did build the T-26 Fruils for the Polish 7TP (Poland 1939 campaign) and they were handed. There was no way they were going to stay together without gluing the ends. Perhaps I'm using too large a drill?

Sal - A perfect choice for a Landship. I built the same kit for another campaign and also found the fit very good but for the main turret hiting the forward MG turret. You did not run into this issue?

Zsolt - The PE really shows the difference between the HB & Zvezda kits. The later has just molded plastic screens that are not nearly as convincing. I wonder if the Voyager PE set will also fit the Zvezda kit? It would be a nice upgrade if it did.

I think the size of the track is the key. The T-35 has quite large links (though not a Jagdtiger, but still large) and their weight helps to hold the pin inside the hole. Or so...

Close the hatches! Too funny! And after all of that work. I guess that's what is so frustrating for me: no blueprints or photographs to work from. I'm working on a French bomber (Amiot 143) from the interwar years and trying to build an interior; the available photographs make it even more confusing in some instances. If I only had a diagram to work from! But I guess that this is what makes it fun.

Sal - Great looking KV-5. Did you have any trouble with the main turret colliding with the front MG turret during rotation? I had to hack some of the front mantlet to allow some clearance.

The seemingly endless filling, sanding, filling, sanding have come to an end. The first basecoat with highlights is on. It took more than an hour to paint. This must be the biggest tank I have ever made. Very satisfied so far.
Next is some mud on the running gear and decals. Then it is painting all the details.
