I need to practice more painting on more of the markings and avoiding decals whenever possible.

I have a Hasegawa N1-K2 George that is almost done except for one decal; the yellow fuselage band decided to be a bastard. Had lots of Tamiya decals come apart.

Speaking of which, I will not be able to finish Annie quite as she looked as I 1) misplaced the decals, 2) found them and discovered they are missing the markings for the carriages, and 3) the Peddinghaus set may not arrive in time for the deadline. Since this really only affects the carriages, I only have to retouch those when I get the decals; the gun itself will essentially be finished. Also not finishing the base completely (just assembling it) as I want to merge it with another Dragon rail kit I have to consolidate my display area, as I also have to accommodate a number of Trumpeter trains as well.

Will a two week extension help your cause at all, Shell?

Tim,

After the success you had on the last build I can't believe the this decal from the same company could be so awful. Maybe some dark wash and a coat of flat may cover those spots or blend them in.

Good luck.

Mark,

You are so right!

I was so pleased with the excellent IJN Ryujo deck decal that I bought several others for future projects, among them the Aquila. The experience with these decals was so disastrously different... I hope both Aquila decals were just part of the same bad production run.

Oh crap, Tim. How many black cats have crossed your path, ladders have you walked under, etc.... you can't get a break here.

I know what you mean Peter! I usually have some sort of mishap during every build, but I知 definitely over quota on this one!

Well, all it would really help is the markings on the carriages, which is another reason why this kit is rated lower than Trumpeter's version (but I got this one so cheap). The base is still something I can't finish until I've finished the other Dragon train kit and allocated the shelf area for it. I can definitely finish what I have OOB before the deadline so unless someone else really needs those two weeks, I'm good.

I will probably do this kit again someday but it will be the Trumpeter version next time.

I built this kit back in 1976. I don't remember the paint scheme I used either..... only it was Humbrol enamel paint!

Welcome aboard Kelly.

Howdy Y'all
Trying to get my modeling mojo back. Thought I'd work on something 'easy' and broke out my Elefant. Here's my Elefant this morning.

I started working on the track lengths and working on cleaning the garage, alternating to take breaks from each task. At lunch I've only gotten this far.

I know what I'll be doing this holiday weekend to finish for this campaign. Darn braille scale track lengths.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

It's those itty bitty parts that kill me, Don! Looks like you have them under control, though!

Lap Man-looking good!
Gaz-Looks like I'm not finishing this campaign, buddy. After 2 days of on again, off again building this is the results:

The braille scale track links ate my lunch. Also notice the links do not fit into the teeth of the drive sprocket. I'll still need to finish this kit for a club contest later in the year, "Enter the Dragon", for Dragon models. Great campaign, enjoyed watching the other builds.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

HI Everyone,
I think there are quite a few builds that aren't too far away from completion, so I'm going to implement a two week extension.

The new completion date with be 15 June 2019. I'd like to see your great works ready for the display shelf.

That is great news, I needed those two weeks to finish up.

Thanks,

Wonderful news - I've just popped in to ask for a few days extension thank you for your flexibility!

Chaffee decals are on but the one on the upper-back hull was so disastrous that it had to be scraped off. The others went on quite OK, but some silvering appeared in spite of the tons of decal setter and softer used.

I need the few extra days to finish the detail painting (MG, headlights, stowage, etc) and weathering - currently only a light pre-dusting layer was sprayed on.

Cheers,
Zsolt

Thanks for the extension Gaz. Between the AFV Club tracks and 1:1 scale diaper changes, I致e fallen far behind my schedule. This should be the motivation I desperately needed to finish my build. I値l get back to the bench as soon as I change one more diaper.

Aloha All,

Pete, Gaz and Kalin: Thank you for earlier comments and the encouragement.

In light of the impending deadline and my going out of town for the next week and a half, I called myself finished. However, seeing as Gaz was kind enough to grant an extension, I will endeavor to do a bit more when I get back!

Anyway, this is where I am currently:

A bit of weathering on the floor:

And then the rest of the build. The decals are from Star Decals, depicting the 601st Tank Destroyer Battalion in Italy.

Happy Modeling,
Zon

Tim, that IJN Ryujo is absolutely aces man. 10/10 for sure. I've never been really into naval stuff until I started playing World of Warships, and small scale stuff usually doesn't turn my head but this is remarkable. It inspires me and makes me daydream of a samll scale task force dio. I'm sure that's the big benefit of the scale is you can place ships together for an excellent comparison and task force depiction. I'm imaging the pearl Harbor strike force or one of the late-war U.S. powerhouse groups in the Pacific.By the way, what did you use for the base of that? It looks like it could be modified to make for the perfect pen holder for an office desk!

Zon,
I知 quite impressed by the paint and markings on your tank destroyer. I知 glad that the extension will enable you to do a little more when you return.

Enjoy your trip!
