Well done, Joseph!

I see you built your ML-20 in firing position.

Maybe you can find remedy for the muzzle brake-heavy gun if you display it in transport mode(so pitty RB did not run weight balance test with their-otherwise splendid- metal barrel).
The barrel is transported in full recoil position, which will change the weight balance of the gun.

Trumpeter are giving transport position as an option, although-IIRC- some parts are mistakenly represented...

Looking forward to the painting and weathering!

Thanks, Angel. I do have another ML-20 in my stash and I will model it in a towed position. This project has taken a bit of a side step now that I am working on a Miniart Tiran-4. I'll see if I can squeeze in some time to affix that last pieces that support the shield. Then, it is primer time!

Looks great Joseph. Glueing down to a base will solve your tipping issue. Good excuse for another dio like Dutik is doing.

Thanks Petbat, I am tempted to create a dio for this but I don't have the space for it. I am liking the progress of your Thunder Model artillery. Looking forward to more pictures.

Thomas, your Pion looks great! Now, I am wanting to add this to my stash!

Colin, your PE skills are most enviable! I hope I can do something similar when I work on my Geschutzwagen 38.

Colin, I would see a therapist about your Masochistic tendencies...

Just kidding.

Not sure about ET etch, I have heard mixed feelings from guys in my club. I used the Griffin set for my Grille and found it reasonably easy going. I only solder the main parts, with clasps etc glued on. I find that is strong enough for that type of item.

Yours still look good, and as you say, they would get battered in the heat of battle.

Looking good Glenn.

Construction on the BL 7.2 inch howitzer is complete - Dry fit. Straight OOB, all the copper is in the kit.

You can just make out the rivets in the inside of the gun cradle behind the breach. Cyano dabbed on using a piece of wire.

Assembly complete, except for tools and such which will be added after painting.

Everything primed and ready for base coat. The gun will be painted off the model and then added to the carriage. It won't fit with the rear doors in place.

Hi Dave

No one can see you pics. The links you post are to your Google account and whilst you are logged in and can see it, no-one else can...…

for now, I'm working on a Chromebook trying to use google photos. My desktop, where I used Picassa is compromised for the moment

I tied to go to imgur, but it doesn't load properly. Any ideas for another way to go?

Thanks, Dave

Looking at the sprues of my Su-76i, I realize it is armed with a T-34 tank gun, which doesn't really fit the spirit of the campaign. For some reason, I thought it was armed with a Zis-3.

Question for Richard S., would a modern naval gun qualify?

If not, that is fine as I have plenty of straight up artillery and SPG kits that would fit the campaign rules.

Thanks,
Nate

Hi gentlemen,

I made heavy progress with my 2S7M Malka and did finished the rear spade exept the flange plates for the final Fixation of the spade´s lifting cylinders. These will be done after the upper hull is glued after all the interiors are painted:

And I did finish the huge gun; boy it was really the most massive and complex gun I did so far but in the end it looks really impressive and I like it very much. I didn´t glued all in place yet as I wanted to dismantle it again partially for a better painting later. And to my big astonishment TRUMPETER ommitted all the hydraulic hoses and electric wiring around the whole gun and there is a lot. Need to make it with lead wire by myself now

And all fixed in place for the final photo:

Next will be the to dismantle all in small segments and starting the tracks

This is a real impressive build!

When ready some suggestion to expand your capabilities:

Soviet 2A3 Kondensator 2P 406 mm Self-propelled Howitzer by Trumpeter

280mm K5(E) Leopold Railroad Gun by Trumpeter

And finally:
WWII GERMAN DORA SUPER HEAVY RAILWAY GUN by Soar Art Workshop

Keep rolling!

I am sorry, Nate.

I've asked the same question during enlisting (the russian 130mm twin is on my to-buy list too), but ship guns are not allowed in this GB. Of course you may build a naval gun as a coastal defense gun. That kind of naval guns is inside the rules.

Regards

Fellows, these are really nice builds all together! I've enjoyed watching your advance

Japanes 28cm siege howitzer
- The siege of Port Arthur

I am painting and wheatering my gun. The gun is black, so I applied a black primer (Citadel/Games workshop) at first, followed by a coat of Tamiyas NATO black. Then I added a light grey in a cloudy pattern at the large paneels. For some unknown reasons the airbrush splattered a lot. It was more of a splat gun than an airbrush not what you really want to see, but we don't make mistakes - we have happy accidents I left it as is and merged it with the wheatering process. Applied a clear cote and started using some streaking products ("Starship streaking" is a nice one for dark surfaces) and the wellknown oil paint dot technique. The baesplate recieved a filter for dark green vehicles between the "rails" and a generous application of "standard rust" wheatering liquid. Last step so far was to ad some serious chipping with a sponge and blak Tamiya paint. Most of the chipping went onto the rails for the gun cradle and onto the baseplate next to the ammo hoist and the small sheet for the ammo cart.

Base and lower craddle:

The gun:

Next steps are rainmarks and pin wash at every rivet. There are a lot of rivets! This might take some time...

After this I will apply another coat of flat clear varnish (to kill the glossy apperance) and start to build up dust usings pigments.

That's it for now. Enjoy!

Thanks for clearing that up Dutik! I actually have the Ak-130 kit, the base is probably the biggest piece of styrene I have ever seen in a 1/35 kit. The only real disappointment are the meager decal/finishing options, no stencils are included, only emblems for the barrel plugs.

By the way Dutik, really nice work on the weathering so far, the barrel definitely has that cast iron look.

Thomas, beautiful work on the Malka, glad to see the 3D in Scale interior sets live up to the computer generated images on their website!

Pat, nice clean build of the 7.2!

After two strikes, this kit should connect, Dragon's 10.5cm schwere Kanone 18:

Thank you Dutik :-) Haha, yes the Kondensator would be a challenge The Leopold I already have together with all extras you can imagine. For the Dora my capital power was always too weak

P.S. You made a very nice job so far on your gun. I am very curious how everything will look in the end

Lol, yes, I have paused the self flagellation for the time being while I reevaluate my life choices about using ET etch...

Very impressive SP Thomas, that really is a big gun! Dutik, very nice finish on yours!
