Ryan, there's nothing really difficult about this kit. Most parts will be used for the undercarriage. Once you're beyond that point, everything will go quick. And it's a fun build, believe me.
Don't know if the trucks in Somalia were armed but I think so. You'll need a different gun ring for the MG 3 beside the carriage of the kit. The one from the Leo is too big, I believe. I found this AM parts from MR Modellbau which suit the MAN.
This is my MAN 5 to gl from last years Logistics Campaign. Of course it wears the number of "my" truck Y-276 245 of the 1./PzBtl 83 in Lüneburg ....

Whenever I start this campaign, this will be my build:
F-4F Phantom II from JG 74 of the Bundesluftwaffe in the depicted special anniversary markings. Kit is Revell Germany 1/48 (ex Hasegawa).

The build looks great. Thanks for the information. Are those the kit tires? The tread is different then the MR Modellbau tread. Def Models has something closer to yours and the box art. Not sure if it worth it to get that set on top of MR Modellbau.

Great selections there guys. Nice to see someone doing an aircraft too. I was hoping a few wingy-thingy guys would be interested in joining.
Alex, what brand are those Fuchs wheels? They look sensational.
I have several builds on the go at the moment. Two at painting stage and three that need a lot of scratch build work - 2 of them, which I was not expecting to have to do so much - so my timing is way behind. My choice will be either the Takom M47/G or Meng Panzerhaubitz 2000. Depends on how much time I will have.

My pleasure, Ryan. Yes, the tyres are from the kit. Everything is from the kit, only the covered "Dangerous Goods" signs on front and back are scratch built from Evergreen profiles and kitchen tissue. I had them always on my truck but they're not included in the kit. I was 3 years in the transportation platoon of my unit and carried ammo and fuel for our Leos most of the time.
Here are the tyres fresh from the paint shop. If you need some more assistance with your build, just let me know. I made quite some photos during the build ....

Hello Peter,
Wheels are MR Modellbau production. They are indeed very well molded.
However, no sagged effect and no tires markings, but the essential was to have a MICHELIN XZL tread pattern instead of the MICHELIN XL tread pattern of the Revell tires.

I meant to join this campaign yesterday, but had forgotten to photograph my kit.
So, here it is, Takom's M47G. The G stands for Bundeswehr
This will be an OOB build with the only additions being some DOLP metal figures.

Well, I don't remember bying a nuclear bomb, but there's one in the box:
German F-104s were nuclear capable and at least some of them had low level nuclear strike role. So I will use the Brassin set with decals that are historically correct. I hope the German Navy grey with orange wingtip tanks is one of those.

Did some reading, and I think the payload limits marking options to one of the JaboG Starfighters. So it's either NMF (JaboG 33) or green-grey (JaboG 32) one.

.... The G stands for Bundeswehr
Gary, as all number plates of Bundeswehr vehicles start with "Y", we used to say "Y is the end of Germany ...." You get the double meaning ....
Don't know if it's still said today.

I’m in with something a bit different, a Bundeswehr Käfer (Beetle)!
Years ago I had picked up Cromwell’s diminutive 1/76 scale Wehrmacht VW staff car at a swap meet. The old resin casting was missing its wheels, and the bumper and left running board were damaged... but the unmistakable Beetle shape was there!
The kit depicts a KdF Type 60 Volkswagen from 1943, but I plan to build it up as a later Bundeswehr vehicle of the 1960s.

Well, Gary, it will be different from my usual!
“Assembly” of this kit was straightforward; the first step was to remove the casting block at the bottom of the vehicle. The missing wheels were replaced with parts taken from a Hasegawa 1/72 VW Schwimmwagen.
Although correct for a 1943 vehicle, the wheel design had changed a bit by the 1960s... but I’ll deal with that later!

Ryan,
My initial thought when I bought the kit way back in the 1990s was to hollow it out and install new transparencies and scratchbuild an interior, but looking at it now I notice that the resin casting quality is not of the highest order. Although it looks good in pictures, up close the outer surface is inconsistent and somewhat rough, and filled with a web of micro-cracks... so a big detailing effort wouldn't be worthwhile on this one after all.
I'll still have some fun with it though!

Thanks for the Info Alex. I'll have to look at those. for the one in the stash.
I forgot Gary was doing the M47, so I will definitely do the Panzerhaubitze 2000 as something different. Welcome Gaz.
Try explaining that to the Government Police Pasi!
Another aircraft - great to have you and the "Widowmaker" on board.
Definitely something out of left field Tim. I hope it doesn't come apart on you too.
Great to see the interest here guys.

Dimensions comparison with Revell. Revell diameter is a bit too small.

Simple repairs to the damaged bumper and running board complete the Käfer assembly.

A coat of slightly lightened Tamiya acrylic Khaki Drab (XF-51) gives the little bug a more military look.
I haven’t yet applied any kind of groundwork, so for now the bug sits on a sheet of .060 inch plastic. The wood is a bit of scrap with a neutral varnish.

Up close and magnified like this Tim, I can see what you mean about the casting. Should still be a nice little model when finished though.

Yeah, it is a bit of a mess, but even the ugly kits deserve to be built, right?
The tires and windows are now painted, appropriately, Tamiya NATO Black (XF-69).
The bug didn’t come with any markings, but these decals from an old ESCI M113 will serve.
In addition to the medical insignia, the Bundeswehr M113 license plates should look good on the Käfer.

Waste not, want not Tim. Are you going to do the 'house' marking on the front too?
