Hi all,

A bit more progress today, most of the road 'cobbles' have been glued down, they just need covering in glue-soaked paper (see images below).

Hi Erwin,

You must be the one in the flying helmet, and I presume Tim is the one with the big floppy...hat, .

Who's the third person in your masonic-type modelling gang, .

Cheers, ,

G

Well, since Mike also added injury to insult, he unwillingly volunteered to join our gang....

You make nice progress by the way...The space for the Churchill is rather tight. Maybe a crew member to guide the driver in front of the tank?

Hi all,

A tad more progress today, all the road 'cobbles' are now formed formed, also added, but not finished the 'curb' stones and steps to the two buildings, and added a capping stone to the pillar at the top of the steps (see images below).

Hope to finish off the groundworks, bar painting, over the weekend and then I can start the buildings, .

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the positive feedback, as to the lack of stone...what the eye doesn't see, .

I owe you a big thank you for convincing me to buy the NWSL 'Chopper', it's been a godsend, thanks, .

How goes your builds, posted any photos yet?

Cheers, ,

G

Glad I could help on the chopper and that you enjoy it.

As for my builds, Bundeswehr GB bottom of the page. Close to being stuck until new paint shows up.

I like your tissue paper as mortar and not a putty material as it seems cleaner. I do agree on a figure as point man. Keep up the great work.

Looking mighty fine G, the Guild of Old Cobblers salutes you & that’s a fantastic shot (the second @ 4 June 17.23) with or without a guide…even the Committee is unable to KERB its enthusiasm

PS not actually moving until the 16th but thanks for your wishes in advance

Hi Ryan,

Thanks for the feedback, and the seconding of the 'point man' suggestion, much appreciated.

I'll go check out your build.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the positive feedback, it means a lot coming from someone of your modelling calibre, .

Glad to have not fallen foul of the Guild again, I have nightmares about you in that floppy crimson hat, .

Hi Jerry,

The technique, if it can be called that, , is a bit low-tech, slapdash and unprofessional...but that's me to a 'T', .

Thanks for the feedback, as with my comment to Tim it means a lot coming from your goodself, .

Hi all,

Finished off the 'cobbling' and primed the groundwork to try and uniform it prior to painting (see images below).

Also cobbled (no pun intended) together from card, paper and white glue a sort of water fountain/pump stand...not realistic, but it filled a dead space, . Will need to add a spout, and I guess a handle as I don't think it would have flown freely.

I appreciate it looks a bit rough , but a lot of it will be hidden under 'snow'. However, I am toying with the idea of giving everything a thin coat of a plaster slurry, this might hide joints, unify the whole and add texture.

Hi all,

Decided to make a first attempt at one of the building façades (see images below)...it's a wip using a similar process to that used on the groundworks, so lots to do to get it looking better, especially where broken plasterwork overlaps brickwork, ...but it's a start, .

Feel free to critique as one sees fit, .

You're once more off to a great start ! I have only one niggle: plaster won't come of in straight lines... Plaster is there to protect the bricks/stones and mortar... I only comes off due to a lack of maintainance or because of violence.

Hi Erwin,

The photos were part way through the build, the straight line bits of card were purely there to level the areas between bricks and give me a substrate to build the 'plaster' on. Hopefully the images below give a better impression of what it should look like, though the 1st floor (2nd floor in other countries) still needs some work before starting on the ground floor.

Allright Since the houses seem not to have their original shape anyway, maybe some bullet holes would be in place?

Hi Erwin,

This building has certainly seen better days, . Once I've added fittings, and such-like, I'll add some minor combat damage.

Hi all,

The first of the building façades is now roughed-out (see images below).

It'll need windows/shutters and doors adding, along with a small element of roof and any rainwater fittings...and then it'll need a touch of paint.

Hi all,

Made a start on the second building façade (see images below).

The appearance of this building is completely different so as to give contrast. Though this might look a tad strange it is based on an actual image I found online, so isn't as incongruous as it might first appear, .

The partial figure is simply to give a sense of scale.

Great progress, even as they are the facades look totally solid er man. I’m too delirious from packing tape fumes to make fun of headless Nick but he looks harmless enough

Hi Tim,

Thanks for the feedback, .

You're not meant to sniff the tape, ...wonder if there's a medical term for a tape sniffer, . Not long now, then you'll be back to sniffing whisky fumes, .

Jesting aside, I hope the move goes without a hitch, .

Hi all,

A drop of much needed rain today gave me the opportunity to finish cutting and cladding the outside of the second building façade (see images below).

Hopefully I'll get it clad in paper and glue, and primed tomorrow...weather permitting, .

Cheers, ,
