Hi all!

I started thread n°2 for the Campaign as the previous one reached page 10...
Here is a little visual sum up of the first thread:

If I forgot someone or made a mistake, just tell me and I will edit the pics.

See you here for new adventures!

Jean-Luc

P.S. I only listed those who already posted a picture. If you want to be on the flight plan, you know what you have to do!

Hi Jean-Luc,

I have to admit, that you run the finest campaigns on Armorama. Thanks for taking the time to make this memorable. Since we have so much time remaining in this campaign, I'm tempted on starting another entry.

Hi Frank!

I'm also tempted to do a second one for the Campaign... but before your start a new one, shouldn't you finish your Spitfire first? :-)

Very true, Jean-Luc!!!

The decals are on, and it's a matter of weathering it and adding all the fragile bits.

I am finished!

Jean-Luc, here is my finished ARII 1/48 P-40E of Col. Robert L. Scott from China.

Most of you may know retired Brig. General Scott passed away Monday. In reflecting the moment this came to mind.
What an incredible and full life Col. Scott lead. I could only hope to live to 97 and be able to say I made a difference. Let us not dwell on his death but celebrate how he lived! An honorable, humble, warrior who put his country first.
Without a doubt "God is his Co-Pilot"

God bless Brig. Gen. Scott and all those like him.

Respectfully,
Brian

Hi Frank and Brian!

Wow! You both made very nice entries! Thanks a lot!
I'll move them from the "In Flight" to the "Landed" section as soon as Frank has finished his weathering.
Brian, did you choose the markings for Col. Robert L. Scott's plane to make a tribute to him or was it coincidence? I agree with you, what a fulffiled life he must have had...

Hi Jean-Luc,

Nope it's coincidence. I happen to purchase those those decals well, goodness two years ago. After changing from the F-100 to the P-40E I chose the earlier of Col. Scotts' aircraft partially because of his membership with the "Flying Tigers" and the intresting Chinese and US markings.
I was taken by surprise Monday at the announcement of his death. I am honored to have built a replica of his P-40E and in an unexpected way pay tribute to him and share it with everyone here.

Sincerely,
Brian

First I'd like to say...WOW. There sure are some nice entries so far. I’m really impressed as to how this campaign took off, on of the most active and busiest I’ve seen in awhile. Thanks Jean-Luc

Ok, here's where I'm at. I've just finished up the Cobra and added on it's weapons. The only thing left to do is the canopy. The 7 tube rocket launchers were scratchbuilt as are the TOW missiles.

Hi all!

Nice to see more models are coming in!
Roderick, It was about time an A-10 is on the way!
Fightnjoe and Joe... thanks! For your nice comments and, of course, for participating to that Campaign! I always preferred Team Sports rather than individual Sports. Working together and sharing a build experience with other modelers is just great... that's the best part of Armorama!
Dave, at the end of the Campaign, maybe an "On Display feature" with ALL the participants would be a good idea... is this possible?

Thanks Dave... I will try to do that once the Campaign is finished. Of course, this shouldn't prevent someone to submit detailed pictures of his model for an On Display feature as well!

Hi all!

Because the weather is very bad and i'm stuck at home, I just started a "One Day Build" Marathon! Frank Portela really made me curious about it!
I'll post picture of my attempt every 4 hours in hope to present you a finished model at the end of the day...
Of course it will be a P-40! I first wanted to try Hasegawa's 1/48 P-40E but I thought I would go for the easiest Academy 1/48 P-40C build OOB. One should not be too ambitious for a first try...

Next update in about 4 hours...

Hi Jean-Luc,

That's great, you're well on your way, you're ahead of where I was at that stage! As a pointer on painting and decalling, using acrylic paints, and acrylic gloss and flat coat, I leave about 1 hour between the gloss coat and the decalling.

good luck,
Frank

Hi Frank!

That's cool! It will leave me time to watch "4400" on TV tonight! This also means all the painting and futuring must be done until 21:00

One thing though: the pasta seems the wrong shade of white....
Also how did you get the NMF on the knife? did you use Alcad?

Hi Roderick!

Well, the pasta are in fact "Spaetzle" and are more yellow than regular pasta! So I guess it's Ok. For the knife I used a "Natural Real Knife Finish" :-) By the way, the model is 1:1 scale! if you want further information, for example about the "Cordon bleu", ask my girlfriend... :-)8

Sorry to be late for this one but the Armorama server was down one hour ago.

Hi Jean-Luc,

If you're going be the official Guelph Modellers Group rules, we do give ourselves an extra half hour, for meals, but sorry, nothing extra for the snow shovelling! Good luck!

Wow, Jean-Luc!

It looked liked you had screwed up your build pretty badly at 13:23, but then you salvaged it until 15:00!

Great save! :-)

Cheers!

Hi Frank!

12 hours build! Impossible for me! :-) I hope I can make this into a 24 hours build...
Nothing for snow shovelling? That's not fair...

Hi Björn!

:-) Yes the look of the model at 13:23 was really bad... don't know what happened... maybe it's because I placed the model in the microwave to speed up drying time!

Hi Jean-Luc,

Congratulations on getting that far....... People really do not understand how difficult a 12hr build is. You mention to them, "We're doing a 12hr build" and they respond by saying, "Oh, thats nice, have fun..." It's alot of work, and you need to be prepared and know of certain shortcuts. Of the five 12 hours builds I've done, I've completed 2 and have had 3 near finishes!.... It's great way to spend a day though.

well done, Jean-Luc
Frank

My EDIT:

The 21:40 photo, was that your girlfriend giving you the ultimatum!?! (end now or else!!!)

The 22:55 photo has my attention! Cured ham, a nice french cheese and a baguette, now that's talent! :-)

Frank

BTW, the models nice too!
