Good for you. With this many modelers interested enough to post their finds it should be a very complete inventory. I had never heard of the Lion Roar M40 barrel before, that's a good find. Now that the horn could be an issue for newer vehicles I'd hope we'd see one before long.
Robert I agree that the first Stryker book was fantastic. Great photos, nice format, well printed, I look forward to the other two.
Thanks guys

Hello my dear friends
Congratulations for the great topik on Stryker
You should change the title though to: "All one should know about 1/35 Stryker kits and detail sets".
now, seriously,
I have started the AFV M-1130 together with Eduard's M-1127 add-on armor and SLAT sets
Generally they are OK
They are user-friendly, if you are familiar with PE and use good quality CA glue.
I use a PE bender and some other custom-made aids.
The PE sets may be expensive but they are worth the money they cost.
(in Greece, the AFV kit costs around 30-32 euro and the PE sets 70 euro for both of them)
Thanks again for the info and pics

In case you need some Eduard PE for the little one:

BTW William,

the barrel is from Lion Marc, not Lion Roar

I stand corrected sorry about that and thanks for the url.
I was only kidding about slat for the 1/72 one, you'd need a microscope for that little thing.
That is another good find.
Cheers

Hi Guys,

First of all you all started an interesting and usefull topic!

Sebastien asked me to post some images of the Pro Art Models update-set for the M1126, so here they are.

An extra note about the set and how it built:

The set contains more then 600 PE parts and I think about 80 resin parts. PAM decided to choose for as mush as possible resin parts instead of PE, to keep it buildable, even for the average modeler.
The Stryker on the pics is almost ready to paint, I'm just waiting to receive PAM's resin deflector for the exhaust, towing bar, smoke grenade launchers with canvas cover and the 2 baskets for the RWS.

The stowage racks are not in the set, these are from Blast, the gun barrel is from Lion Marc Design.

Building was quite easy due to the one-piece resin spaced armor plates and the resin square tubes for the slat panels and supports. But it is still not an easy kit of course, it just makes things a little less difficult.
Instead of soldering the slat armor I have choosen to use extra-thin superglue, and that worked perfect for me, as you are still able to correct alignment of the separate slats, which is not the case when soldering.

The resin wheels set is a separate set from PAM.

The red color on top is Gunze Rust paint, to imitate the anti-slip surface. All credits go to Miloslav as he gave me that tip during last years Euro. Thanks again Miloslav!

I will use 2 figures from HobbyFan, both stowage sets from Blast, separate set of US Modern gear from MIG, and I want to make a base, also using MIG's Streetlights and Roadblocks.

About the prize I can't tell you anything yet, but if everything went well Sebastien would ask Dirk from PAM about that. Release date will be Mid February.

No instruction sheets here, as the manual will come on CD-ROM, together with the set.

Best regards,
Hugo Luyten

Thanks for sharing this effort with us. It looks very clean and well done but as for accuracy I have no idea, I'll leave that for the ones that know better. It'll be nice to see paint on as well, PAM certainly pulled put a lot of time effort and resources into the production of this set(s). Did I hear a rumor that PAM was working on an interior as well.
Please update us when you have the needed parts to finish the build. It would be great to see some of these kits side by side when they're all done.

I'd like to see a diagram or a photo of how the builders of slat position the slat for right angle gluing. Especially thin cyano glue, the two pieces must be prepositioned and then glued. If the slat is so thin that it bends or distorts easily what do you use to how the pieces in place while gluing? I'm sure if I had the instructions these answers are all there but I am like so many, poised to buy as it were.
Interesting PAM give the instructions on CD. Is it a "build along with Derk" or are the files that builders can print out?
Interesting

Dear friends, below you can see my first "Stryker WIP" pics and comments:

The Eduard add-on armor

and the frets of the SLAT armor

I will also need the exhaust PE set (I have ordered it - sorry)

The parts for a "typical" side SLAT frame. Some 15 parts for each frame. The actual frame is given in flat PE that needs bending 3 times each (!).

The tools & glue I use. On the left you can see the first complete frame. During its construction, I sometimes hoped I had ...a third hand (two hands to hold the parts for the right angles etc. and another one to glue them... )

The complete frame

I will soon give you my update.

Stavros, thanks for the wip. nice to see how others manage this complicated setup, but it still will not make me to buy the slat and put it on my strykers.

Very clear and very concise. I see the tip of your Xacto knife there in one image to keep the size of all this in perspective. Your progression appeals to my sense of order so I can almost see how it all goes together. I can't read the super-glue label, is it thick, medium or thin glue? How are you finding the Eduard instructions? I look forward to the next set.
Thanks for sharing the great photographs.

Hi Bill,
The X-Acto tip and the ruler, give you an idea of the panel's size.
I think it's the Thin glue. I will check and will inform you asapr. The instructions are OK if you are carefull and patient enough.
I hope I can send you my next pics during this week

Hi guys,

Here are some answers.

Charles, I've used superthin superglue, I don't know the brand, but it is available here in Europe under several names, e.g. the brand "FAX". I always buy mine at MAKO Modellbau, who's always present at the bigger shows. Here is a picture of the bottle, it comes in 3 varieties but you will have to look for the one with the red cap (Ultrathin):

It behaves just like water and it dries almost invisible and fast, very fast.

William, yes the rumour about the interior goes on, and I think Dirk is crazy enough to realise it
Concerning the assembly of the slats, here are some pictures. The first one shows the complete fret (this is still the test shot as you can see by the empty spaces). The second one gives a detail of how the separate slats are connected to each other by pin/hole. The third one is an exampe of an assembled panel.
Almost each panel consists of a U-shaped base, inbetween the legs of the "U" come the separate slats. First the farmost one (to make a square) and after you just place the other slats between the 2 legs of the "U' and put some glue on each connection. After 1 minute you are able to make some adjustments on the alignment by using a tweezer. That's all.

I hope this makes sense.

Greetings,
Hugo

I really like the registration guide or "pin holes" as you call then, these must certainly help orient the slats to the correct place. The resin frames must cut down on a lot of bending those awkward folds in the Eduard offering, which is attractive too. Do these resin frame pieces come the correct size or do you have to cut them?
I have never seen the glue you show but in Canada we have a very thin high quality cyano glue. The corner piece is very impressive, you certainly look like you had this assembly sorted out. Great pictures and excellent narrative too, keep them coming.
