2009 update...
Wanted to finish my builds before the end of the year but didn't make it..
Anyway, just need to add some foliage on my Jagdpanther and on the Sturmtiger, just finished the interior provided with the Tamyia kit and painted the hull, still a lot to be done specially the 200 links for the tracks...

Hello All:
I have been working on Tamiya's Leopard 1, but I cannot find any good pictures of them in any color other than OD. Did they do any 3 color schemes on this model, if so does any one have a pic of one that I could use?
Robert

Hi Robert;
I assume it is the A4 version that you have. Is so there are a couple options, providing you are not to worried about being 100% accurate
Australia had two and three tone camouflage schemes, patterns can be found at Armoured Acorn
Greece paints it vehicles in a MERDC pattern, there are some nice photos on Prime Portal of National Day Parades
cheers
David

Hello David:
The Leopard that I have is the Tamiya kit #35064, this tank was introduced to the West German Army in 1964 and looks like a smaller M60. I am no expert on armor but I do know that it is an A1 by the example photos on wikipedia. I like the armouredacorn site and plan to use some of their schemes on the LEO IIs that I plan to build in the future. Thanks for the help, but I still have found no 3 color schemes for this version, maybe it only had OD.

The turret is nearly finished.
I need to fix a little silvering on a couple of the decals, fit the MG3 and a couple of other small bits, give it a light wash, and a light dusting and that will be it
I'm happy the optics came up Ok after all the painting, I'll put a little more future on them to make them a little more glassy.
BTW a couple of the optics' colors are incorrect (two should be clear), but I'll correct that in my next Leo's.
Here's the turret before it gets weathered.
Cheers
Paul

@ David: Nice documents, now I will have to attempt the camo. Thanks for the help.
@ Paul: Again a nice job, how do accomplish the sharp edges on the camo?
Robert.

Anthony, Robert thank for your kind words.
I painted the Leo in a base coat of Nato Green, then I masked off the areas for the Nato Black with a product call "Blu Tack" and Tamiya masking tape before air brushing the new color.
The Blu tack allows you create the Camo shapes much easier and smoother than just plain masking tape.
I used blu tack to create the outline, then filled in the area to be masked with the masking tape. It's a fair bit of work but the results are nice.
Once I finished the Black I did the Nato brown.
I wish I had a photo booth - I think I'll make one. The quality of the pics don't do the model justice ATM. I'll see what I can do to improve them,
Hope that Helps !
Cheers

Here is my JT getting some zimm pics kind of suck though sorry about that.
masked for milliput
milliput spread on and smoothed out to about 1mm thick
Zimmerit with tools pressed in to mark their locations I may add PE tool clamps later after my back stops hurting (I probably spend 2/3 of my time making those little buggers on my hands and knees searching with a flashlight!lol )
tools used lion roar zimm roller and die, tamiya zimm rakes
next will be the PE exhaust covers and lower glacis zimm

The Kosovo 2A5 is finished.
Here are couple of pics. I'll try to get better quality ones (with some practice) over the next few days.
Cheers

hey peeps! i'm new to the site and fairly new to AFV modelling but i figured i might as well 'get stuck in', so i'll be making tamiya's 1/35 Tiger 1 mid production pretty much OOB. i'm actually quite far through the build, most of the model is weathered and painted. i'll upload some photos soon.

ok i found some photos but the img bb's don't seem to be working (can anyone help with this), so you'll just have to have links for now. the figures are to go in a desert diorama with the tiger. still waiting on my MIG pigments, so for now i can't do much more apart from a little airbrushing on the exhausts.

ok here's today's development. the blackening on the muzzel brake has been toned down a bit, i added more black smoke marks around the exhaust, and i have finally finished and added the weels. they look a bit contrasting at the moment buy hopefully when my pigments arrive i can dust them up to blend in with the rest of the tank and the diorama groundwork.

a tactic that is new to me for tackling the daunting task of painting loads of individual wheels, (52 on this Tiger), is to airbrush the whole wheel black, then use a circle mask to spray the inner area dark yellow. you have to tough up the rims a bit with black, but even so it's probably saved me hours;

My other cat
just need to do the tool and cable clamps and headlight wire on the JT and it is ready for paint (I think) The KT just needs clamps.

Very nice Ryan !
Any major troubles with those Dragon Kits ?
Where did you get the Zimm ?
Terrific "little" beasts you got there !
Edit:
Took some shots of the wip Sturmtiger, and posted some of the finished 70's Jagdpanther.
