Hi!! I have a question regarding the Quad gun tractor in canadian service; did they have or use the mickey mouse patern? or where they plain green? I am about to paint mine and would like to know.

Thanks in advance

Hey Byron! I just checked in on Armoured Acorn, and according to their expertise, the Canadian Quads did not use the Mickey Mouse ear camouflage, they were painted monochromatic olive drab.

Can't wait to see your finished build.

Thanks Olivier, Zaltar,

I hope to have the tow-cables, loaders MG, and some stowage on this weekend.

I'll see how I go, but I may need a weeks extension on this one so I can do the weathering properly after paint

I'm also waiting on the Accurate armor clear water bottles to arrive, so I can add them to the RHS aerial (as deployed in Afghanistan containing the 'light sticks')

Cheers

Is it just me or is the campaign slowly dying off? It appears there are only a couple of builds going on right now, especially compared to the other campaigns going on right now. Unfortunately, I know that I won't finish on time, so I'll be giving myself a month long extension due to a crammed and very stressful personal life right now.

I hope that we get a few more finished models!

Tow Cable and stowage sorted out, and attached (straps for the stowage still needs to be cut from Tamiya Masking tape - after paint).

I just need to sort out the loaders MG and fabricate the spade grip inlieu of the wooden but. I'll use the Tasca 50 cal grips I think.

I think the base coat will be done by next weekend.

The weathering will take quite a while but I need to do it correctly !

Cheers

I don't want to burst your modelling bubble but Canada doesn't use the M1131 FSV.

Hey David

You might want to double check your references on that. Canada is currently using LAV-IIIs in Afghanistan. They share a few common bits (most notably the chassis), but that's about it between the LAV and the Stryker. It wouldn't surprise me if the news report was inaccurate. To the untrained eye both look very similar. It's worth a double check.

Zaltar

Thanks, the wife bugged me about putting a kit together, and betted me that I couldn't finiah one in a night. So, after 20 years wrapped in plastic, broke the seal and built it while watching Dr Who with the wife during commercial breaks, and a little after. Went ole school, no airbrush, just had all that I needed in the box top and went to town.Posted the photos at the campaign site.

I will try and get pics of my staghound up. I haven't had time put the antennas on or weather it yet. But at least I'm 3/4 the way done does that count?

Darryl: Don't worry about being only 3/4 the way done, it's not that big of a deal if it's not weathered. remember to post your finished pics onto the campaign gallery when you're done!

Progress at last! While still in the middle of the nightmare that is paint-mixing, I decided to work some on the diorama base for project Firefly. First I started by carving out the terrain: making ditches beside the road, lowering the terrain beside the road, etc. Then, I went to my local dollar store and picked up a massive bag of Bamboo Sticks for, you guessed it, a dollar! I then took my homemade "chopper" and cut a few shoots down to a specific length, making decent fence parts, but it looked too new. I then used my Minwax Wood Stain, and gave it some aged looks.

Here are the pics:

Ron: I'm sorry to hear that you're dropping out, although I know how you feel about not being able to work. I can give you an extension for however long you need to finish, if you would like one!
