Jeremy, glad to see you on board it has been a while since we have been in same campaign. I like your choice of vehicle, the Dodge is one of my favorites. I can remember when that kit was at a reasonable price of $15.00 USD. Now I think it goes for $63.00 USD.

Ya I know. It has been awhile. You should see what I have been working on for the Non-fighting vehicle campaign. I also have a pretty interesting one planned for the command vehicle campaign as well. For the non-fighting I am doing the Italeri Water Truck and for the Command I am doing a Chevy 15CWT with a Plus Model Canadian command conversion. Will post the Water truck progress in the next few days over there and have yet to start the Chevy one.

Nearly there....

Just the wheels and lights to be added, but before the wheels I have to "dirty up" the under-side. Last time I was in the LHS I had seen some spray can weathering products. Can't remember the name, but I think it's time to try one. Is this the first step on the road to an air-brush?

Loaded it up with loads of bits from the spares box. Not sure if they are all 100% accurate, but hey, they look good....to me anyway.

All comments welcomed!

Thanks for looking,
Sean

@ Sean: that .50 looks massive on your Land Rover.

@ Alan: nice looking Humber, how many builds does that make for this campaign now. You are a building machine.

Hi Bob,

Thanks. . I have the Tilly and Humber complete but not yet finished the LRDG Chevys, although the bulk of the work is done I have a lot of small PE/metal bits to add. I just need to be in the right frame of mind when dealing with the PE as it's time consuming and footery.

Cheers

Al

I do know what you mean Al, if I start to wonder off (in my mind) it is time to get up and go watch a little tv (my brother can get youtube on his tv) and satisfy the wondeing.

I know it's not great but the mount is molded as part of the gun and is quite different to any other mount. I didn't trust my scratching skills to try removing the gun to replace with something from the spares box.

Thanks HondaCivic (my son drives one of them ;-) ) and you've tempted me to go do another Humvee soon....so many kits, so little time!

Sean, my comment was that the .50 looks massive on the vehicle. I like it especially ever since the first time that I was able to put my filthy mitts on one way!!!!!!!!!!!! back in 1973. BTW what color are you using for the sand pink, I am having no luck on this side of the pond finding anything close.

I’m calling this one finished.

The flash drowned out my weathering. It looks much better in person.

I’m fairly pleased with the outcome. I used mig’s filter for tri color camo, followed by a pin wash, and then fading with white oil paint. I then applied another layer of the mig filter.

As I was doing some final test fitting, it fell about 3 feet onto the floor and broke off both rear bumper horns. They fed the appetite of the carpet monster, so I had to touch up paint the area on the rear bumper and make it look like they had been torn off.

Pictures uploaded to the campaign gallery.

John,
Your VW is in the Mediterranean sun so it looks great. and battle damage in the carpet jungle is acceptable. As for the weathering, thanks for the steps they help me. I will post you as finished, nice job.

Hi all,

I'm back here now!

I won't bore you all with where I've been.

There are some amazing builds in here, I'm up against it now but I'll try and get an entry in and completed in time.

Thanks,
Philip.

I'm going with either Tamiya's Schwimmwagen or Kubelwagen.

I'm also enrolled in the following campaigns:

Targets Shoot Back!
Camm-paign. The Sir Sydney Camm Campaign
P-40 the Work Horse of WW ll
Zerstorer (Destroyer) heavy fighters

So I have got to get a move on with all my builds!.

Thanks,
Philip

Just thought I'd check back with this campaign and WOW, some really great work continues on here.

DungLam: love your Humvee. Very well built and finished.

Sebastion: the wolf came out really well. I like the subtle weathering.

Stefan: good work on the bike. Looking forward to the rest of the scene.

Tom: that's a big Kubelwagen. Looking forward to that scaled photo.

Alan: your Humber is excellent. Your work continues to inspire me and I admire your productivity.

John: The VW looks great. I've been thinking about doing one for some time now and you've inspired me.

Sean: good job on the VMIK. I just got that kit and I'm looking forward to starting it. Your mods / deviations from the instructions seem good and practical. the spare looks much more interesting on the side rather than the hood.

Happy Modelling, -zon

I have completed my Opel Blitz for the campaign. I hope everyone enjoys it. The tool holders on the front fender are missing a few pieces! The carpet monster got them and I could not replace them. If I add this model to a diorama in the future I'm sure I can fashion something to hide them.

Here are a few images of the completed build. I added a bunch to the campaign gallery.

Michael, well done on finishing. That mean old carpet monster has eaten more than its share of goodies from all of us, as for the missing parts just say they fell off due to heavy usage or battle damage.

Hi folks,

I've been away for quite a while, but I've picked up on my DAK Kubelwagon...

The last time I posted I tried to chip the paint but the chips were too big:

It didn't help that the Kubelwagon is so dang small, but anyway, I softened the chips by using Micro Sol to set some of the lifted paint (although water worked almost as well). I had to use a tine brush though to get under the tiny chips. A few touch ups here and there and I may just have salvaged something:

Well, marginally at least!

Later folks,

Eoin

Hello Eoin,
How much trouble did you have to go through to fix the problem?

Started my entry, the Italeri Utility. Went together pretty well although instructions could have been a little clearer in some areas. Hopefully get some paint on her tomorrow.

Cheers,
Nick.

Hi Bob,

It just took patience and then a bit more patience thrown in!

I used the Humbrol liquid mask, but in hindsight I applied too much of it. I was also a bit impatient initially removing the masking stuff from under the paint layer. Removing it slowly, while it lifts the paint, leaves enough attached to fix the paint layer back in place with MIcro Sol.

I'l be trying the method again with a Sdz 222 for the Aftika Korps campaign in a few weeks. Will let you know how it goes!

Later,

Eoin
