howdy..
I havn't been all that productive lately as I've been working on my new website.
Anyways here is an update on my Willy's jeep build..
Tamiya Kit in 1/35..
The first photo shows the body after basic construction. The basic build went pretty fast with no real problems. I replaced the headlight guard with a bit of copper wire, it might be a little to thick, but it looks better than the plastic kit part.
The next shows a close up of the pioneer tools. I've scratch build some clamps and straps out of wire and foil, don't know how accurate it is but looks tons better than nothing.
Another part i'm replacing is the one piece jerry can/holder part, the kit part could be better. Instead I'm using a jerry can holder left over from my Academy M-10 Build (the kit has quite a few extra bits in it. I'm also using a Verlinden Resin U.S. Jerry can, and a scratch built strap and buckle made from foil and wire.
thats it for now.. laters.
Delbert..
P.S. If you get bored, feel free to check out my new website .. I'd really like to know how everyone likes it, so feel free to e-mail me by clicking on the .50 cal can.. It started out as a place to keep my model photos, but it has grown a bit..

Hi all,
My contribution to this campaign is Italeris Mercedes Benz L3000. It didn't cause me many problems - everything fitted nicely.
I decided to paint it in a light grey tone (almost white) with a driver and an officer in the cabin. The figures are Tamiyas Schwimmwagen kit and they actually fitted quite good.
Well here it is:
Comments and such are most welcome.
Cheers

Hey Hondacivic,
Your Humvee looks great! It's a really interesting scheme you've got going with the camo- a real mix and match.
Your figures look excellent. Any chance of a few more photos of them??
Thanks a million,
Eoin

Hondacivic, it's not a problem to paste the links, but I can't open them Also, you must post photos of your finished build to the campaign gallery. Otherwise I will not be able to give you a ribbon.
Hello guys, sorry for taking this long to respond after I took over from Bob, but I was on my honeymoon and then it was time to settle in our new house. Now everything is settled, I'm back to modelling! I will follow progress with interest. Some very good models have been posted since I last checked this thread, keep up the good work!

Hey Dung,
I had trouble opening your link, but I saw the pics you posted in the Campaign Gallery. Again, hats off- a really impressive build and a very interesting subject. Humvee with NATO Eurpoean camo and Desert Camo doors put on. It really looks like it's been pressed into service in a hurry.
Well done!

Hi everyone,
Finally got started on this campaign. I've been following the thread thouh, and I have to say there are some fantastic builds so far.
@ Dung: awesome, awesome looking Humvee. The paintjob is superb!
@Alan: very nice looking LRDG equipment. And of course Emre's braille version is great too. I've got a couple of those on the way myself.
@Scott: I've got a few of those commando cars in my stash, so I'll be watching your build.
@Tom: that Kubelwagen is BIG!!
@Simon: nice truck!
And that's just the last two pages of the campaign thread!
My contribution will be one of the IBG Chevy trucks:
I started working on it tonight. As others have mentioned, the plastic is quite soft and the parts have many large attachment points on the sprues. As you can tell from the initial progress, I sacrificed one part to the carpet monster:
I will continue on the cab once I get some of the interior painted. The frame is definitely over-engineered; 30 parts over two steps. I got about half of it done so far. Despite the soft plastic and many parts, it's been an enjoyable build so far.
Not sure yet which version I will build, but it will be a Canadian one for sure! I'm thinking about converting one of the Valiant British Tommies into a driver, if the fig isn't too big for the cab.

Hi guys,
Well with all the Campaigns I noticed I had 3 for the next month to finish, Command Camp, Non-fighting and Soft-Skin.
So I had to pick one.. I choose this one, better timing and a kit just begging to be on the bench...
I pick the IBG Models - Einheitsdiesel Kfz. 61 Heavy telephone exchange Van.
Starting Step 1 after typing this...
Stay tuned for some pics this weekend !

Hi Mark,
IBG have a nice range of British softskins in 1/72 scale. Still waiting though for them to bring them out in 1/35 as they stated 18 months or so ago .
The 15cwt is a neat truck.

Trying to get in under the wire, I am building a Crossley 25/30hp Aviation Wagon or Tender of 1918. Those fans of Maj James Bigglesworth DFC RFC and his adventures may recall the type.
For those that dont,
This gallant band were members of the RIC/RUC and several thousand vehicles ,some new, some reconditioned from RAF stocks, were brought into Ireland and used by the forces of the Crown at the start of the Anglo-Irish War of 1920.By the time of the Irish Civil War of 1922 they were in use by all sides.
I was lucky in that Tom Fryers, who lives not far away and owns two of these vehicles, which you are sure to have seen in several TV series and Films, offered a great deal of help including pages from the original mecanics handbook.
I always think in building these old vehicles that the radiator is the key shape, get that right and you are away to the races. So I used the traditional sandwich system. A plasticard back-plate cut to the shape, a piece of P/E cut to match that shape and both surrounded by plastic strip, finished with a re-shaped jerry can cap as a radiator cap.
The front and rear suspensions are simillarly built up using Evergreen strip.
Next the chassis.
regards

Wow mecanix, my hat's off to your scratchbuilding skill! Surely a different vehicle for the campaign.
Alan, those trucks are coming along nicely.
Steph, how is the Italeri Dodge? I always thought of buying one but changed my mind when I considered the age of the kit.

Waay back, I completed a Mutt for this campaign and if my memory serves me right, I had to abandon my Tamiya Citroen as the windshield was broken.
Well, a friend made a replacement windshield for me by cutting a piece of left-over clear plastic sheet. All I had to do was trim it to better shape and install it. Here's the Citroen in its final stage. I will apply only very light weathering.

Good evening,
very nice traction Emre Efli.
to dodge, it is really very old.
it lacks finesse and details are a bit rude, the rest I used a board EDUARD, and I also used a winch from a dodge AFV CLUB.
