Greetings and salutations fellow campaigners! My build for this one will be at least in part a "spoiler" in that I am currently working on a build review of the kit. I wont go into all the details of the build as I might normally do so as to build anticipation for when the review comes out.
My choice is the following:
It's the new Dragon Type 97 Chi Ha tank. It is what they term a late production model and was used on Saipan in 1944. This one I promise will be strictly out of the box!!! Besides, I need a break from embellishing things.
Cheers,
Jan

Hi, All!
Strictly OOTB.
LOTS of cool-looking stuff being built and posted!
Is it too late for me to jump in? When's the finish-line? My stash is burgeoning ... I NEED to reduce it, and this seems the opportunity to actually do one without sweating every last error and addable detail!
If I'm "Good to go" 'll pick one, post a sprue-in-box pic next week, and start cuttin' and gluin' right after!

Hi Scott! I just clicked "send" on an in-box review of Bronco's new 17pdr "pheasant" AT gun, and want to offer a complete build as my campaign entry. I hope to start cutting & gluing at the weekend...

So this will be my entry. I'm just finishing a Bf109 for another campaign and the paint scheme absolutely fascinates me. I'm looking forward to concentrating more on creating a really nice finish on another Luftwaffe kit...

Hi there,
Just got back to armorama after months (years!) just reading threads.
This campaign has really caught me, so I'll enlist and see what I can come up with. I like the OOB-idea.
Next step is to see what my stash are hiding .
Cheers

G’day
This my first post & first group build on this site so OOB build looks like a good place to start. This is a fairly basic kit but I haven’t got a Panzer II in my collection & it comes with five figures so I thought “why not”.

Greetings all! I have made a good start on the Chi Ha and it has gone fairly well. The detail on this kit is really nice but it's not without a few glitches. For a change I started with the suspension which is also the first two steps of the suspension. The idlers are in halves so one must make sure that the teeth line up.
Next was the construction of the dual bogies for the centre two positions. The front and rear most single pair are slide moulded in one piece. Sadly these single pair have no detail on their inside portion.
First picture is with the front and rear pair attached and return rollers on. The second picture is with the idlers attached. The idlers have very nice detail even down to open holes and are a one piece slide moulding.
Last for this post is the attachment of the first of the bogies. after dry fitting the second unit It was obvious that the front and rear single pairs do not rest totally on the level surface but are raised about 1/2 millimetre. With the tracks on it may not be obvious and I can't say if this is a flaw in the kit or an intended feature.
Parts fit varies from snug to rather loose and there is enough play in the bogies to allow them to be posed as if they are going over rough ground. That's it for now.
Cheers,
Jan

Here's my 232, I'm considering her all done unless someone points out something I messed up. It was nice fast build and I think she looks good for a old Monogram model.

Nice work on the 232 Rob. I like the paint chipping on the hatches & fenders.

Just got through the stash and found this one:
I've never made a Quad before, so this is the first one.
I'll build and paint it in desert scheme, with the gun being towed.
More pictures of sprues will follow soon.
Cheers

Sprue with ammunitiontrailer and wheels for the 25 pdr:
Sprue with the gun:
And finally: Bodyparts and manual (theres also a japanese version, but I decided to go with the english version ):
Cheers
PS: NO AM products in this one

Thanks to those that have commented on my build. The construction is progressing quite quickly despite a few minor glitches.
Rob, nice 232 you have there. Those multi-wheeled German armoured cars are always fascinating.
Simon, it looks like you have your work cut out for you. I have always had a soft spot for the Quad and 25 pounder.
*******************************************************
Continuing on! Shortly after posting the initial progress pictures I completed the suspension. Here's a couple of shots.
Note how the front and rear most road wheel pairs are slightly elevated as I had mentioned earlier. The start of the turret commenced after this point. There is no provision for the gun to be elevated but the fit into the mantlet is nicely snug. As you can see, there is quite a bit of detail to the internal parts of the gun including a bag to catch the shell casings, telescopic sight and elevation mechanism.
An interesting side note about these guns is that they were totally manual in elevation and traverse. The gunner had to use his body to adjust elevation with his shoulder and arms. Similarly, while the turret had 360 degree hand wheel traverse, the gun had independent traverse in the mantlet of about 10 degrees to each side.
The turret partly assembled and fitted on the body.
Cupola with PE pieces attached. I believe that they are some form of cover for vision slits.
Finally, the first part of the two piece hatch cover fitted.
Since the campaign is "out of the box" I decided to have the tank "buttoned up." Other than the quite nice internal gun part there is absolutly nothing else to the interior.
Cheers,
Jan

Hi everyone
My kit eventually arrived from Hong Kong, And here are the box pics and the mandatory sprue pics.
This will be my first military kit, so excuse my mistakes. Really looking forward to the build. I should start my cutting gluing and sanding sometime next week.
What steps would you recommend i do as far as the build process goes? I see most guys build the entire tank up then paint. Is the process any different on a vehicle like this?
I look forward to your responses.
Regards
Wes

Hi Wes, I would build the kit up minus the tires and go from there, but really you should do what u are comfortable with
It was a busy work week for me but I managed to stop by the LHS and pick up some more Tamyia XF-60 to finish off my base coat
lots of stuff is just dry fitted
border="0" alt="Photobucket">
and then after sleeping more last night then I did all week I was up early today spraying on the 1st camo color
hopping to get the red/brown on later today and hopefully more pics tonight
