Hi Sal!
Thank you for the kinf comments.
I "stole" the Idea from what I saw in another site (I think it was a tutorial by Bratt Green) I am not mastering it at all but in combination with sepia ink I think that enhanced the look of the figure.
You are right on the left arm sag: I did not spot it... thank you, mate!
Ciao
Edo

p.s.
If you are interested in it, I have downloaded the tutorial and now I have it in world/pdf format. If you are interested in it PM me and I'll be much more than glad to send it to you.

Nice work everybody. I made some more progress on the Pz IV F. Almost ready to prime, just a couple of adjustments. All of the hatches, whether you can see them not have the PE latches, etc. Pictures follow:

Zon: I am going to make a base for the Blitz, I need to get to the LHS to purchase some Hydrocal.

Keep up the good work.

Nice work Ralph, those little bits are no easy task! I was trying to add them to a recent 1/48 build and they were so small that they were all but unusable. Looking forward to seeing your work with Hydrocal.

Hi all,

I was very busy in my "real lidfe job" the last days, so no chanche to write.

But in any case I made progress, with the final paint.
So actuall status:

Last step is now the desert dusting....
And the figure.
I am not so happy with the tracks, because the look a little bit un-even, because I have glued the rwesin tracks on an other M13/40 hull (as shown in the picture bottom). Was not a good idea, because their are some mis alignements of the track rollers. Maybe I will change to a Friul...

Jeremy:
The primer I use is from a local Austrian producer. But I am quite sure that there are similar products in your near. I even read here that some are using the Car primer from Dupli-colour in the spray can.
My attemt to find some different was a result of this:

where I made a test spray of Lifecolour primer and “Rosso minio” for my Autoblinda interior. Even with the Model Master Acrylic primer I got this “paint design”
As a “emergency” result I tried my company primer with this result:

I normally use the Tamiya surface primer Can, but for painting of the complex interior you need a air-brush, so I tried the available products of my LHS.
In the meantime I am able to paint Lifecolour final paints without problems (as you can see on the carro-comando paint), but for their Primer I still have this strange behaviour shown on the picture.
Maybe some of you has n idea whats wrong.

By the way: As I am in the end of the carro-comando build, Can I even start with a 2nd model in this campaign ?
I have a interesting idea for an PzIII Ausf. G as a DAK conversion, based on the Dragon Smart kit of the PzIII Ausf. F

Great work Erich!

Yes, you can make as many builds as you want for this campaign. Feel free to start the Pz III anytime you're ready

I'll give the Duplicolor primer a try. I'm not sure what's going on with your primers. The Lifecolor shouldn't give you that problem because it is already diluted for any airbrush setup. Do you use a different airbrush for your primers? It seems like there is a pressure problem, maybe there is an obstruction in the airbrush or some fine adjustments need to be made?

Hi Jeremy,

I even suppose its a pressure problem, or to much pressure with a too much diluated paint (for this pressure).
But what I am be a little bit disappointed from both primer´s is, that their adhesion on the plastic surface is similar (= not better) to that as if you would spray the final paint directly on the model. I expect from a primer maximum adhesion to the surface and to act as "connector" for the final paint and the plastic material . At least thats what car-primer will do (beside rust proetection, which is not needed for our plasitc models).
But anyway, for me I have solved this problem.

Ralph: the Pz IV F is looking really good. Brave of you with all those tiny bits. I look forward to seeing the Blitz base as well.

Erich: Looks great. I can't help you much with the primer issues as I've been having paint/ airbrush issues of my own lately, but your "emergency" fix seems to have done the trick.

Happy Modelling, -zon

Erich: Beautiful job on the M13/40 Command Tank. When you mentioned auto primer, I thought it sounded familiar. Sure enough, it is what I use. Large can, goes a long way and covers nice. Purchseed it at NAPA (auto parts). I have a Pz ii H and F on the way. I have been toying with the idea of upgrading it to a 5.0cm as I have not seen a twin MG version in any pictures. One thing that has held me up was the mantlet but I found one today, Armorscale.

Edo: Nice progress on the Pz ii G.

Zon: how you coming with the 222, new paint on it yet after the stripping

Bob; How is your 250/3 Greif coming?

Tim: Nice progress on the Autoblinda AB41.

I hope to prime the Pz IV this weekend.

Ralph, just keep getting sidetracked at the moment but have scheduled time this weekend..........
Thanks for asking.
I always see one or 2 things that catch my eye, like the added Pith helmets on Erich's build,
I'd better get going on my build; I think I have everything researched as best I can, those pesky details,

Aarrghhh!! Second paint disaster. I think I'm not supposed to paint this thing! I decided to prime the thing with Tamiya primer in the can and it came out more lumpy than my original disaster. It's back in the windex bath. Maybe third time is the charm...

Erich: It's hard to say when I can't see your paint and airbrush in person. It could simply be that you are in the unlikely situation where all of the primers you have tried are from bad batches.

Bob: Don't focus to hard or you'll lose site of things

Zon: I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you bud

Sal,
You are really coming along with the dioramas (personally I cannot do one) have the crates and figures arrived?

Zon: The Kubelwagen is always a great choice for this campaign if the 222 doesn't work out. Heck, I'd encourage you to build it regardless of the outcome with the 222

Sal: They fit the part to a T

Zon:
Why not try Dupli-color Red Primer (for plastic bumpers etc.), goes on smooth, covers without filling detail, drys very quick, and sticks to plastic very well. I have used MM enamel and Vallejo acrylic with no problems at all. Your local auto parts has it, NAPA etc. Good luck!

This is going to be my first campaign, and I am looking forward to building something! It was strange to find this because I have been reading about Rommel recently too.

Awesome, glad to have you with us Justin! Make sure that you post a picture of your unstarted build here in the thread before you start. What vehicle are you planning? Great inspirational reading by the way

Regarding primers, Plastikote T235 sandable auto primer is light gray and easy to use. It's my fave for armor. I find Duplicolor red primer to be useful also, yet Duplicolor Gray seems too dark and too thick.
Having built autos for the last 20 years, the primer color is important as well for that oh so shiny finish.
