I 'm back, good work everybody. I have made further progress on the Pz Kpfw III Ausf F DAK tropical, up-gunned. Still have a lot to do, Fruil tracks, touch up pin wash, filter, a little dry brush, pigments etc.

This vehicle is a 1.Kompanie, 1 Abteilung/Panzer Rgt 5, 5. leichte-Division; mid 1941, panzer grey showing through hasty RAL 8000 Grunbraun paint job, carries 3.Pz Div. markings. I 'm probably going to buid a rack on the back for more stowage. Here are some progress pictures:

I noticed that on the front view that I have some work to do on the lower part of the gun mantle, could call it the chin. Primer is showing.

Eoin: We've been glad to have you with us

Ralph: Nice progress, and it looks like the touch ups will be miniimal. I would definitely encourage you to add a turret basket, if for no other reason than to hold more water cans.

Hi everybody.

Update on the progress of the Pz Kpfw III Ausf F project. Added track holders and track, additional jerry cans on turret, detail painting and some weathering. I will either build a rack on the back deck or use tie downs for more stowage as in the example in Workhorse Panzer III in North Africa.

Tracks next, will take time but they are worth it.

Jason: Looking good, almost seems like you need to open the driver's door. Look forward to seeing her in paint

Ralph: Looking better with each post mate! I found I had to look over your pics a few times to fully appreciate all of the subtle details in the painting/weathering. G fabricated an extra rack for the rear deck on his build and looked really good loaded with Jerry Cans and additional spare items. Your Pz Kpfw III Ausf F is certainly going to look very well worn when you're finished with her

I got started with a Tristar 1/35 Panzer Ia (late):

I had a few days off of work last week and powered thru the basics in about a few hours total work:

Yesterday I got to this stage:

Those Tristar kits are little gems, and do I spy Modelkasten tracks in there?

Actually, those are the kit-supplied track links, which do bear a striking initial resemblance to modelkasten tracks.

Whoa!

A Panzer I! What were they even used for? I can imagine putting two dozen in formation behind a couple of Panzer IIIs to create a massive dust cloud to scare the British? or maybe training or something?

I've no idea!

Actually the Pz I was used mainly to conquer Poland, western Europe and most of North Africa. It formed a significant portion of the German armoured strength from 39-41, the time when Germany scored most of its victories.

It was only when they started losing that they built massively armoured hulks with ludicrously big guns.

Gentlemen,
I seem to have 'bitten off more than I can chew". I shall have to withdraw from this campaign, as I have signed up for too many campaigns. If I was to complete all I have signed up for, I would have to complete three models by the end of next month! So please pardon my over-zealousness when it comes to entering Campaigns. I was especially looking forward to this campaign, but time slipped away. On the bright side, I did complete four models in the last 5 or so months - so I did try, honest!

Thanks,
Stephen

Not a problem Stephen, and I have no doubt you tried. I think that everyone is swamped with campaigns right now. Cheers and happy modelling mate

Update on my Panzer Ia.

mostly done with the build - except for the wearisome tiny little track link cleanup hell that i have only scratched the surface of.

got it primed in Tamiya "German gray" and think it is looking well enough to continue on with the desert scheme without any further cleanup, so hopefully things will progress rapidly from here on out (time permitting)

Now Scalemodelworld is over for another year it's back to the bench to finish this little car off, I would open the door, but I did this on my last Kubel but kept knocking it off while weathering it, so this one is staying shut, be posting some more pics once I've started painting, I'm off to start applying primer right now,

Hmmm... I've got a lot of work to do on my 251 & Pak 40 combo if I'm going to finish in time! With luck I'll get time this weekend to get it ready for paint, but any thought of improving the interior goes out the window. Oh, well.

(Time has been eaten by other builds...)

I have mostly finished my Pz. Kpfw III Ausf F, up-gunned to 50cm Kwk 42, tropical. I have to complete the figure, a Dougs Original, and the base yet. Pictures, somewhat washed out because of cloudy skies and use of flash.

Jeremy and campaign members;

I have really enjoyed this campaign, it was my first, a lot of very good builds. I am sorry that it is coming to an end, but I have probably built enough DAK Pz III's although I still have the Ausf H in my stash.

I will have to try my hand at building some of the British side of the Desert War now, I have three kits (if my wife only knew), a Valentine II Mark III, a Stuart "Honey" and the Cyber-Hobby SAS 4x4 Desert Raider.

Tom: Just let me know.

Ralph: It's been my pleasure to see this campaign through for you guys, and I'm so pleased that you've had so much fun with this campaign. Nice job on the base and don't worry, I won't tell her anything about the rest of your stash mate
ps: don't forget about the other campaigns as several of your choices are legit material for them if you are interested.
