Being that The Great War is my main area of interest I must have another try at a campaign, and I think its got to be a diorama of some sort in 1/35. And maybe an Airfix Mk1 as well in 1/76.

Hi folks,
Other than RPM does anyone else make the Renault FT17. Light Tank in 1/35 scale? If so any opinions on quality, instructions etc.
I'm hoping to do the 1914 Rolls Royce for the campaign but was thinking a FT 17 might be fun too and I'd like a Frence Element even if it is only a soldier.
I built these two figuers for the Over the Top Campaign so thought they would suit as the Tommys.
This being the main build idea at the moment.

Unfortunately I think that RPM is the only manufacturer of the FT17 in 1/35 styrene. I new tooling in either resin or styrene is long overdue to say the least...
There are a few old school AM goodies you can get for them, including replacement tracks as well as interior and engine components but you'll have to hunt for them.
That said, it looks like you already have some excellent materials to start your project with, I'm looking forward to watching your work evolve

I picked up my kit a couple of days ago, once I find where the kids have hidden my camera I will post some pics. I will also be doing an in-box review on it for the Early Aviation forums over on Aeroscale.

Damian: Awesome, looking forward to it!
Alan: No problem, I feel the same way.
I wish Tamiya and Dragon would stop teasing us with early WWII and between the wars subjects and just commit to some WWI tanks.

Hi Jeremy,
I like the early WW2 war stuff but it would be good to have some new well produced WW1 tanks and trucks options in plastic too. Tanks with interiors of course lol, lol.
There is a open AM market for WW1 1:35 figuers, not many of those around either.

Yeah, Roden is doing well with their 1:48 Fords, but I would like to see more offered in that scale if they continue, and definitely in 1:35.
There was a decent manufacturer of 1:35 figures, but a lot of the poses were pretty rigid like the old school norm. They were nice figures but it seems that not many people carry them.

Hi Jeremy,
Japanese Armour king did some interesting WW1 figuers but I heard they are no longer trading? At any rate their web site is no longer available.
Does anyone know if they still trade?
Cheers

I am joining in as I happen to have M-Models Nightr(a)ider in my stash:
Although, figure painting isn't a big hobby of me, after having a inspirational workshop, I decided that this campaign is a great opportunity to work on this beautiful molded figure.
Alan, M-models also makes a (resin) FT-17:

Alan: I haven't been able to contact them for a while. When I first discovered them their production seemed very low and if I remember correctly they weren't planning on producing further runs of many of their vehicles. I had contacted them about ordering several of their Germans with gas masks and was informed that they were looking at another production run for all of their figures, however that was almost 3 years ago and I haven't heard from them since.
spaarndammer: That's a cool looking figure, it would be nice if you could expand his base a little bit when you build the kit.
I like the FT-17, and if I remember correctly the detail is much more refined on that kit than on the old RPM/Tauro styrene kits.

Thanks Jeremy,
Pity if I remember correctly their was a nice range of WW1 figuers and the Japanese armour and field guns was at that time pretty unique.
M Models look to have some good German Troops and the F17 is tempting.
Cheers

Alan: The other company I was trying to think of is Masterclub. They makes some good WWI figures, but I'm not sure who distributes them.
Damian: That's going to be nice when you're finished mate. I have a few 1/32 Roden engines that I'd like to work into this campaign if I have time.

Aside from being solid, that looks pretty nice. The detail is definitely better than the old 1/35 styrene kit(s), and it looks better than the MB resin Mk IV I have.

M Model (Poland) make one Al. Found it on Jadar while looking for something else.

Hi Pat,
Thanks, I picked it up from the thread above. Looks like a solid chunk of resin for the body, not sure I'd want to go down that route.
Thanks for thinking of me.

Jack Flash reporting for duty as the 53rd enlistee.
This will be the URL for my build. I haven't started yet but I am compiling ideas for a "small diorama".

Regarding the Masterclub WW1 figures, I have purchased some from both Hobbyeasy and Soga-miniatures. In the States ColoradoMiniatures and MilitaryMiniaturesWarehouse also carry some.
I also found an obscure brand name Zebrano. They only have three figures of Austro-Hungarian infantry if interested in that particular nationality. Here are two that I built earlier this year:
regards,
Jack

Wow! Excellent work Jack, looking forward to seeing more of your work!
May I ask what paints you prefer using for your figures?
