Seven months left? Nah, I better not try it.

I'll just wait for the next Campaign like this. This has been a very interesting one to say the least and I want to build a Military Railroad vehicle soon!!
~ Jeff

Ah come on Jeff 7 months is a lot of time, what do you have in your stash with steel wheels

@Kimmo I know real life is more important but like I said 7 months

Yeah I know. I would but I am involved in 3 other campaigns right now PLUS one coming up in August. Oh, and I do not have anything that qualifies so it will have to be next time for sure.

You guys certainly have inspired me!

Does anyone know if there are alternative steel wheels to the ones that are provided in the RPM BA-20 ZD? These wheels lack dishing, and are completely flat on the back.

The closest I've been able to come are resin steel wheels for GMC's, which I think were used much later in the war and wouldn't be feasible on a Soviet armored car from the 30's...

Hi everyone,

I signed up awhile ago, just getting started now had to warm up. This will be my first campaign and my first model in almost 20 years. Any help or suggestions would be truly appreciated. I'm going to do the Railroad version of the 1/35th L4500 truck and hopefully incorporate the verlinden gantry.

Hi Sal,

Thanks for the welcome. I'm feeling my way through posting pictures. Hope this works. The kit is a plus model conversion kit, turns your L4500A into the Railway version. I thought it looked cool and I haven't seen any.

David: posting pics is initially one of the most frustrating things, but once learned is not too hard.

For me, the best way to do it is to first get a Photobucket (or similar)account (it's free), create a photo album for this campaign, and upload your photos to that photo album in Photobucket.

Once you they are in Photobucket, if you "hover" your cursor over the photo, you will get a "drop down" menu. At the bottom of this drop down menu, there is a line for [img]. If you click in the box on this line, it will copy your "[img]link[img]" into your computer's Copy-Paste function. For a second it will show "copied" in the box.

Then in Armorama, click the reply box and "Paste" into the reply. When you do this, it will show a bunch of internet code, but after it goes into the thread, the photo(s) will show up.

To make this easier, I open Armorama in one tab, and Photobucket in another tab on my internet browser (Internet Explorer for me) and click back and forth between the tabs to do the copy-paste stuff.

The advantage of Photobucket is that your gallery space on Armorama isn't very much, so by the time you put all your in-progress shots, you'll be out of room fast. However, for tge "final" pics, they usually need to be in the Kitmaker photo gallery to get your ribbon.

Hope this helps and let me know if it's not clear.

Happy Modeling, -zon

Hi Michael,
I did a Google search for this company and came up with this sight
http://mymodelplace.wbs.cz/135_Baluard_railway_cars.html

Hope that helps

@ David that looks like an interesting project I would like to know more about the quality of the Zvezda kit. The last time I build 1 i was not pleased at all poor detail and lots of warped parts with poor fit.

Got a lot done:

Right now I have it painted Panzer Gray. Most everything you see in these types of rail cars are the Dunkle Gelb with some camo. So...thoughts? Keep it this way or go "with the flow?"

Once color is determined, then all I need to do is add the decals, paint the wheels, and weather it up.

Libor did some time ago. They are not an easy build though. Unique items for sure.

Libor has since created his own railcars and they are top-notch.

Take a look here: http://lzmodels.com/135-German-G10-covered-wagon.html

The level of detail you'll get far exceeds any of the railcars out there. IMO.

Sal: Zvezda kits are really changing for the better. I'm like you, I had nothing but.. challenging... experiences with their old kits. Their new kits, both aircraft and armor, are really nice. They feature stunning detail and accuracy with excellent fit overall. However many of the kits feature exceptionally thin pieces that are challenging to work with and the way the kits are engineered leaves you with a lot of very small parts, sub assemblies, and you end up with a lot of delicate assembly processes. I find them challenging myself and it may not be your cup of tea so to speak. They are impressive kits though.

Jemery, Nice to hear from you there bud, thanks for the info on the Zvezda kits. I guess like anything else I should read the reviews 1st
Nice looking kit you are joining us with will you be doing a white wash finish on it

@ Mike nice progress, most photos of that I have seen appear to have some type of Camo on it. Will you be building the 38-T to go along with it

Sal, yep - the Tristar with all the bells and whistles!

Okay, Looks like I need to get some paint out. (Working on a Type SSy for another Campaign and it's paint scheme is flat black...go figure...lots of colors on that 3' track!)

Perfect opportunity to try out the "salt chipping method."

Sal: Defo on the whitewash, that was part of the whole reason I purchased the kit in the first place! It seems like more of a toy than a model kit, but I'm going to do what I can with paint and see if I can make it look halfway decent. Glad I could help with the Zvezda kit insight. If you are really interested in trying one out, Revell has just released their reboxing of ICM's Henschel 33 D1 which is nearly identical to Zvezda's kits in engineering and quality and it is very affordable, around $35.

Kimmo: Quit posting photos of that thing, you're making me want to buy one now! Looks great!

Sorry for teasing you, Jeremy. But if you buy it, prepare yourself for filling a lot of annoying, little pin ejector marks in all thinkable parts...
