Michael,
Your helicopter looks great, nice detail and colors, really sense the size of that MH-53(?) next to it!, but your cabinet looks very nice too. I'm working toward getting one eventually, and I really like the style of yours.
Thanks for posting!

Thanks Sean, ya, it is an MH-53 next to it. I did my 1/48 as the all ghost, and it seemed boring. So, the 3 tone was fun. I really lucked out on the cabinet though, my girlfriends Dad owns a construction/cabinitry company, so it was a pretty sweet christmas gift. It keeps the cats out! Are you going to the Mad City show?

May 5th in Cottage Grove WI? No, I'll be camping with my Cub Scout.
Staying on topic though, I see the theme is 100-years of Marine Aviation. I'll miss it.
thanks,
-Sean H.

Hi,
Here's an in-progress shot.
On the Skyhawk, I glued in the nose gear before I closed up the forward fuselage. This is an attempt to avoid the situation where the nose gear bay is glued in slightly uneven and the nosegear ends up at an angle when it is finally added.
I like the Dragon figurines, I'm glad that even the one of the marine carrying a wounded buddy is able of standing without support.
Cheers, Stefan.

I finally started. I don't think I posted here yet, but here are my photos-- this build and the same kit for the Technicals campaign that I just finished...
The first step was lengthing the short version kit to make the long version G-Wagen:
Awfully handy to have the discarded body panels from the other kit to chop and lengthen this one...
More photos as I go! (The next two weeks will have me frantically preparing for a model railroad show, but I'll still work here for a break. )
Cheers!

I will go old school for this campaign with the ERTL 1/48 F-8 Crusader. It is an old kit, but still seems to have decent details.
Work has started, but not much to show. More to follow.

Would a 1/350 LCAC with marine vehicles qualify for this campaign? Started this about a wee ago just for fun:
Thinking about getting the Marine aviation set, more LCACs and vehicles and doing a beach landing dio...but that's a long-term thought

hello Sean,
"You must post a photo of the unbuilt kit with a newspaper (or anything else) showing the date before you start the build/campaign."
If you can show that, then I would allow the build.
I am sorry about the rule, But it is in there and it would not be fair to the others if I allowed your build with out you showing the date and unbuilt kit.
Cheers,
Bruce

Great LCAC Sean! I'm only questioning the logic in putting the AAV on there...they're fully amphibious to begin with, so why bother taking up space on a hovercraft? That technicality aside, the build is really well done

A little more progress on my Crusader. The fit of the fuselage halves is really bad, so I will have to glue them together in several stages leaving the glue to set in between. Otherwise it is impossible to have a semi decent fit.

Jesper, best of luck with that fit...I'm sure we can all appreciate the hard work that goes into a fussy kit like that.
Lap Man, I just realized the kit you're building...from my research on Tamiya's AAVP, I believe HobbyBoss is THE kit to have for the subject. If I'm remembering correctly, that kit has the full interior? I wanna see those hatches stay open!

And I'm back again!
I've been making slow progress for the past 3 weeks, but it adds up to something worth showing, I guess. Note that having an extra kit body (from my Toyota project with the scratchbuilt body on a Wolf chassis) really worked out great.
That was it for the body work. Next came the many new details!
My favorite internet IFAV photo was one of Marines taking sniper practice from the hood of one. I liked the wire cutter, flak vests along the rollbar, and sandbags on the folded windshield for extra armor. My plan to make sandbags from Sculpey III hit a snag when I determined that it's "hot" and can't be left against unpainted styrene or it would eat into it and was tough to peel off for baking, so I formed it on an aluminum foil buffer. (I apologize that my wife lent her brother our good camera, so I'm back to cellphone pictures for a while.)
Cheers!

Sean, I like your plan! Isn't it nice to have an extra kit to steal from? Hey do you think you could attach that picture you were talking about? It'd be cool to see the end result you're going for. Keep up the good work!

Here is my build entry. I just picked up the kit last week, but I rushed into building it and forgot to take a photo showing the date next to my build. Is this acceptable? I am about halfway through the build stage, but I do have the receipt with the purchase date on it and can show that if needed?
An extension would be most helpful

Ha! Jeremy's eager to get back to building again!
I love that choice! When I built the M8 HMC for the artillery campaign, I read a lot about the LVT-A(4) because it shared the same turret. That's the definitive Marines armor there!
Cheers!

Haha, you better believe it Sean! Life has been more than a little challenging and it's been difficult watching all these great campaigns and reviews slipping through my fingers and all the great interactions it brings from this community. Heck, this would be my second home if I could actually pull it off
I'm glad you like my choice, and I picked it for those reasons myself. That M8 mortar turret is just too cool to pass up especially for a Marine Corps campaign, and it has a nice tri-tone camo scheme for a vehicle from Iwo Jima that I'd like to portray if I can pull it off in time. I'd like to get this one finished ASAP as it's for my grandfather who passed away a few years back and I know he'd like seeing one of these even though he didn't serve in the Corps until Vietnam.
