LapMan and Mike: you have some great projects! I love the interior...looks like the HobbyBoss kit really is the best choice. And that hornet is looking mighty fierce. Congratulations on a successful build!

I think I'll have mine done soon, but I've been working some long days lately, and not a lot of modeling time. The official campaign end date is listed as the 15th of June. I thought I had four weeks left, but I might pull it off in two.
I'm just saying...
thanks,
Sean.

Hello Sean,
You are right, The campaign ends on June 15, 2012. When I checked it it showed June 1, 2012. I do not know how I used the wrong date.
I am sorry about any problems.
So we have 25 days to go.
Cheers,
Bruce

Thanks for the clarification, Bruce. It will be coming down to the wire with my Crusader. I will still try to make it...

...that all cleared up, I found time to tinker with my build.
I had tried to bend styrene rod into the raised tailpipe, but of course it snapped. The plastic also has "memory", so it didn't hold its shape well.
I made a second attempt with heavy wire. I stripped some 12 (or 14?) AWG solid copper wire, then flattened it between my tabletop and a wood scrap...
then shaped it by hand and with some long-nose pliers (no idea what the British term for that is), test fitting and bending (and straightening a little and bending again), then tacked it on with CA...
As my wife grows more hysterical about the upcoming yard sale this weekend, I may find more reasons to retreat to the work shop!
Cheers,
Sean H.

Here's my diorama entitled Full Metal Jacket. I tried to reproduce a scene from the film where Joker and Rafterman meet up with Cowboy and his squad. I even put a dead VC in the corner.
Thanks for looking

Great Diorama, Tom. You capture the scene very well.
I have made some more progress on my F-8E Crusader. To be honest it is a terrible kit with terrible fit all around. Wings, fuselage, undercarriage doors, you name it! None of it fit.
Hope to make the deadline! More to follow.

I have been able to make some progress over the Memorial day weekend, although this kit is fighting me all the way.
Next are the decals and some light weathering.

Hello Steph,
Great Job. I like your base also, I would not have though to use coal for it.
Please make sure you have a photo in gallery.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hello: Had a change of plans. Couldn't finish 1898 Marine in time. I started this figure for this campaign in 2011 finished the sculpting before the start date, so I did another figure, The figure is done in kit form with over twenty pieces and fore major groups. Prior to the start I had neither assemaled or painted the figure. I'd like to use this one instead of my1898 Marine.
It is a 1/16th scale original sculpt using only leftover sprue as my sculpting matieral. The figure is that of a US Marine taking cover during the battle of Khe Sahn, during the Tet offensive of 1968.
Thanks for looking

I have now finished my F-8E Crusader. It is the old ESCI kit and the overall fit is terrible. I cannot really recommend this kit to anybody. All that said it looks like a F-8E Crusader when finished as long as you do not look to closely at the misfits.
It was great to participate in this campaign and cool to see so many great projects.
Comments welcome

I'm still wacking away at my IFAV. Only some bits and pieces left to add, then into the paintshop. That wire cutter/fencepost bar looks too big, but it was my 3rd attempt, so it'll have to suffice.
I should make this deadline alright, but following with an entire Support Vehicle by the 30th will be tricky!!
Cheers!
Sean.
