Hi Phill,
I just spent 2 1/2 hours going through everything I have about StuG´s. You know what, that is a week point, the Seitenschürzen don´t seem to want to be mentioned let alone the frame work. But I found this which should help, it´s from "Military Modelcraft
International" from June 2010 Volume 14 No.8

Seriously, get Chris "toadman" Hughes disc at http://www.toadmanstankpictures.com/ on the StuG III Ausf.G

It is jam packed full of all angles of those pictures and is very clear! Better than a book too!

Worked on the wheels during the weekend & tracks this afternoon.
Hope to get that part over by tomorrow, or until Wednesday.
Too dark to take some pics now.

I have my wheels painted. I've done some assembling on the hull and fighting compartment. I would have had more today, but i did something soooo stupid, that i cannot even think of why i did it!!!

When assembling the gun mount that attaches on the upper fighting compartment, the instructions are showing a round disc on each side (which also shows a bracket, but hard to see with the arrows for the attachment). These attach so the gun can move up and down. My 2 "discs" had a weird bracket on each one. So i start thinking, it must be to eliminate air bubbles or something, and cut them off. When i go to mount it to the bracket that adjusts the side to side traverse, i then realized those brackets are there to hold this together.
Luckily i didn't maul the brackets too bad, and i was able to use a gap filling CA, small cut pieces of sheet styrene and gound up stryrene to rebuild it. I just don't know if the dimensions are close to the original.
I wasted a good hour and a half measring and rebuilding these two parts. But it also fried my brain for any other work that was going to need some thought.

I still don't know why the hell i did that.
Dumb Polack!!

Don't worry Marc.. those Dragon instructions make us do sillymistakes.
We are so focused cleaning parts, catching mistakes they make in the instructions, it happens... a lot.

My Stug IV , that same part you cut, well on mine it simply doesn't hold the gun, I had to use some CA glue and align it so it could fit the gun compartiment.

I usually breath in and out, take a glass of water a get on with something else, another Campaign that's left behind or cleaning wheels & tracks to get my mind off it..

It's here! And it's got an interior!

And I just remembered why I don't like the first steps of Stug and Panzer IV's: Wheels. I might wait for a rainy day, otherwise it'll take a while.

Besides that though, it looks amazing and I'm glad I was able to trade my Panzer IV for it Pictures soon.

So what did you get Conor? A StuG IV? What brand and version? So it has an interior too, huh?

Sounds like you got hooked up perfectly, good going!

I have done some armour still figuring out a good building procedure. Painted the hull then the wheels will added them with the tracks. Thinking that it will be easier to add and weather them without the superstructure on. I am using a resin replacement mantle with a canvas cover.I did obtain some Ostketten from Accurate Armour in 1/35 for a different project. As for the bigger pictures from photo bucket use the direct HTML toggle.

I find it far easier to get the tracks on without the chassis on. Weathering I find is much easier without stuff in the way.

Allo fellas .. ok need some photo help here .. i need pics of the inside of the hatches for the STuG F ,,i noticed in a pic Paul threw on here that there is a sliding lock on the inside of the commanders hatch ...i needs pics of this so i can build it .
The hatch looks terrible without it .
Oh the left hand side hatch on the G model would be great too as i believe they are pretty much the same .
Any help here guys would be brilliant

I made a start to my StuG, I have cleaned up the wheels and they are now ready for some paint.I also got some of the back end done. Really enjoying this build, I like the Dragon smart kits except for the instructions which i find hard to follow sometimes.

Hi Phill,
it must be pretty earlier in the morning of tomorrow in your part of the world, whats up mate can´t sleep? Well here´s a foto of the loaders hatch from a C/D/E Ausf. I don´t think they changed the device during the production, and I haven´t
got anything else. If its no good well just have to get that foto CD from Toadman like Jeff said.
Cheers Paul

I tried a different approach on this one, tracks & wheels & lower hull first then top hull + fenders. It will be over with the side skirts.

Here goes:

I left some paint on 2 wheels when a brush dropped , I'll have to correct it.
Will now work on the hull & fenders details, hatches & equipment... Stay tuned

Hi Phill,
I´ve been sitting in sun to much, I forgot that I am using parts from the lion roar set, here is what you need.

@ John: that StuG IV is looking good. Are the tracks vinyl
or single links?

@ Sal: looking good, I hope to catch up with you on Saturday
thats if I get primer on tomorrow.
Paul.

Before I start my Stug, anyone have any advice for getting track sag when using DS tracks? I thought they would be a bit better than standard rubber ones, but I'm kinda disappointed

Any suggestions?
