Keith... Are you still horsing around,or have you riden off into the knight? Jeff T.

Jeff,
I just got back today from a vacation/visit with my daughter and her hubby.
As a matter-of-fact I have to be at work in...6 hours, but am too jet-lagged to sleep!

I should have progress to show on this, and some other builds, by this weekend.

BTW--great work going on around here. I can't wait to get back to the bench again and contribute.

Keith.

Phil Nice to here from you, here's a quick update.Thats about the only thing thats fast about this build.Evereything seems to be taking a lot of time, don't know if it's the large scale,or just me

Turret is coming along...

So that's it so far, more priming and painting tonight. We may not have school tomorrow due to the "Big Storm" so I may get some BBT,bonus bench time. Jeff T.

Keeping with Jeff T.'s sense of humor--I've returned from my trip and am back in the saddle again.

Did some rough sculpting to add the extension to the schallern (helmet) neck protection making it more of a Central European harness (suit of armor).

@Jeff T.--nice interior!

Jeff,
I thought you might enjoy that one.
Being the cheap [expletive] that I am, I used drywall spackle!--with a layer of Superglue over it. My plan was to use it as a form to melt a piece of sheet styrene over, but I can't find a hot enough heat source. I tried my wife's hair dryer but it didn't do the trick and I ended up tripping a breaker.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Keith, been thinking about about your heating problem, and maybe have come up with a couple of ideas.
Would putting it in the oven work? You could increase the temp a little at a time intil you got the right "flex".
Or maybe a microwave oven."not repsonsable for large booms"

The interior is done, and the top is going on!

I know there are a lot of push marks, and open backs but once the upper turret is glued on you won't be able to see them.A man can only sand so much. Jeff T.

Greetings-

Haven't been able to start on the T34 yet, too many other blah blah etc etc...
However I have been "riding" along w/ Keith and Jeff T here.

@JeffT- Good stuff man w/ your turret, I really like what you've shared so far.

@Keth- Really enjoy your Knight's progress, I had that same kit as a kid many many yrs ago!
You might find some success with boilng water in a sm sauce pan and either dipping the styrene or merely holding the pc above the heat, dep on it's thickness. Naturally use caution but could work. Good Luck w/ that, like to see the results!

Dave--no worries. I've been called worse! The hot water sounds like a good idea. I recall that back in the day optometrists would bend and adjust plastic frames by dipping them in heated sand to soften the plastic. The water might work similarly.

Jeff T.--great minds think alike-I already tried the microwave! But instead of softening the plastic it made it more brittle. It must not be microwave safe!
BTW-That is a very crowded and busy interior. Great work on the paint job!

Dave,Thanks Man.At least give us a kit box shot.Crack it open and take a look at it.Feel the plastic, leaf through the instructions, come on you know you want to

Keith,I like Dave's idea with the boiling water. And you're right, not only is the interior busy, but it's keeping me busy as well

Here's this Weekends progress, just put a coat of primer on the turret, pics later in the week

Well,We have a turret, kinda.Got the boxes mounted and some little stuff, the barrel is dry fitted cause I'm not sure if I will use the weather cover(non movable barrel) or the regular mantlet(moveable barrel)

And some parts to be put on after painting them.

Instructions say tracks next but I'm moving on to the working shocks, suspenion, and roadwheels next.Jeff T.

@Jeff T. -- I'm glad one of us making progress! That is some serious hardware. Your 'crabs' and 'road wheel ridge' had me grinning.

I'm hoping to get more done on the 'kanigget' (obscure Monty Python reference) this week. I have been cutting plastic and sniffing glue this weekend--albeit on a different kit for a different campaign. (Key in: "You're Cheatin' Heart...")

@Jeff T- Yea this had me grinning as well. I've been delaying the start to this one while I fiddled around w/ two other Camp.
Note: If that was a crab herd, they'd be back-peddling towards that filed of clam-wheels!

Now you guys have done it I'll say right here that I'm marching in there and starting my kit and will post pics tomorrow! No matter what!

Cheers Dave and Thanks

Ok it's not much but it's a start

This will actually be a lil' fun...

Working suspension!

Here's some old ref material

I posted waay back the box w/ contents shots, just in case.
I actually started on the lower hull by giving the front and back plates some texture using liquid cement w/ a wire brush. I won't be doing any super detailing on this one, but will be correcting some obvious defects
