Hi!
A few updates..... starting the photoetched details.
pedals
fire control......
dimples....out
To clean the liquid paper, used as filler, I apply alcohol with a cotton swab, later.
detailing the plate, some holes. I plan to use a syringe needle to simulate the exhaust, it is difficult to make the exhaust little hole, in the middle ...
PS: don't worry about the glue marks...

Well, I can see the finish line from here and some really great work too.
I'm working on the same kit and I just laid down some primer on it so paint should be next.
Don't forget to upload your final picture in the gallery!

Some more progress on the Tamiya SAS Jeep.
been making some jerry can racks and holders out of brass stock with my PE bending tool.
I'm attempting to improve this kit without the use of PE, just using some bits from my spares bin, some scratch building supplies, and jerry cans from the tamiya allied accessory kit.

Just did a test piece and because I want to try the Hairspray technique on my Jeep, I'll post it here.
some bits glued to card stock
Painted Model Master Olive drab.
next layer was aquanet hairspray
then Tamiya Desert Yellow.
2 hours drying time then I hit it with some water and a stiff brush.
I think I sprayed the tamiya paint too thick which made it hard to chip..but chip it did.

In the midst of the ususal weekend activities, I was able to finish construction on these two jeeps... first the FORD GPW..
and here is the other using Legends new stowage set. It has enough for two vehicles, so here is the first one. This jeep wont qualify for the campaign as it was started before the start date, but I still wanted to show it. Even after finishing this, I still have a PILE of stuff to use. It could deck out 3 or 4 vehicles!
i was hoping to have paint on both by the end of the weekend, but we had some nasty weather roll through and between that and family visiting (and a baby), it didnt happen. May not finish either of these by the end of the month.. oh well.

Hey Dilbert, your chipping looks good to me. Just right... Much more and it would have been over done! Nice work with an old kit.
Alvaro, looking good as well!

...How much difficult its to paint this kind of resin sets?
I do not find it hard at all. I use a primer first (Dark Grey or very Dark green) enamel. I even use the Rustolium brand of spray paint in the "rattle" can that can be found in stores, such as Wal-Mart and Home Depot here in the states. They have a dark grey "automotive primer" that is fantastic. Just warm the entire can in hot water for 5-10 minutes before use and just spray directly on the model. Allow to dry for a full day, then you can use acrylics or enamels and they will work very well.
For both of these models, I will probably use Floquil Brunswick Green Enamel(now made by Model Master), then follow with Green Drab and Olive Drab. I will then load up some Field Drab and paint some of the stowage areas with the airbrush. The Ford GPW will also receive a sand color on the exterior, which will then be chipped and weathered to show some of the underlying Olive Drab.
After that, details, including various packs and tarps, will be picked out using a brush and Vallejo or Lifecolor paint.
I will post photos of the process as I am able to help.
I personally find it MUCH easier to paint the model with everything on than to try to paint each resin part and bag and add them later. Plus the overall effect ties the model together visually much nicer than adding items separate. Only items that will be added separate will be a few ammo cans.

Alvaro,
here is a couple of threads where I showed some painting steps. Not a total SBS...but you get the idea. The M3A1 halftrack was painted with all the stowage attached.
I guess the Abrams I did separate stowage because of the big difference in color between the Desert Sand and green/black tarps and gear. But you do see me use the primer..

Thanks Andy for the tips!
Yes, I can found here in my country this paint!, I use it the semi gloss one for the 1:1 proyect (a small metal table)that I mention before!!!
But I use Krylon acrylic for the primer
I was a bit afraid about paint it the entire model set, but I will try it

You're looking great guys!
I applied primer and base coat on mine yesterday:
And today... it's raining.
I know it's out of focus, I usually take more than just one but my battery indicator starting flashing.

In between rain storms I managed to lay down some gloss for the decals to set...
... but I forgot to paint the hood while I was at it.
Oh well, that's why they put erasers on pencils and sell batteries at the hardware store.

I didn't forget this campaign-- here's my little puddle-jumper:
First, I was going to replace the kit grill (molded in gray) with a new homemade piece (in orange), but when I went to cut the center opening, it fell to pieces. I salvaged the side panels and, going against all my being as a former Jeep owner, I cut up the kit "face". Luckily all went well, and the grill bars worked with my pieces.
then, when the grill was complete, I went around to the tailgate. I sanded smooth most of the kit back panel, cut grooves for the tailgate shape and applied ribbing and details from styrene stock...
Next on to the exciting new (for me) world of mold-making for copies later, then to complete the build, and get some GLOSS paint on this puppy. I know right? gloss?
Cheers,
-Sean H.

Wow, I do like what I see here! Everyone is sprinting to the finish line I tell ya!
Busy day with the contractor and the insurance adjuster looking over our house damage from the storm we had last week, so a late lunch of wings from Dominoes inspired me to lay some primer down on the radiator armor and the hood. Once they dry, some paint then the decals... then the grand assembly!
I'm saving the radio PE for another JEEP project down the road. I want one of the desert rats vehicles... what is it called? An SAS JEEP? Of course, in 1/24th again to set up a little side-by-side comparison.
Besides, all the Battle of Bulge JEEPs I've seen are battle taxis and show no radio.
Oh well, keep it up guys!

Well downloaded the pics off my camera of the rest of the build.
trying it out for size on the base.
with all the equipment on, and some weathering.
There are a few differences with the dio, as I am building it up higher, and add the sand then let the jeep sink into the glue.
I have one more session tonight to get the tamiya jeep fully bogged down in the sand, then will submit pics for finished article.
Really enjoyed this build, and have been aiming to start it nearly 12 months ago. You how it is tho. Anyway thanks to this site it is complete. Will defo be keeping this one.
