Just about finished... the headlights and maybe dull it out some.
I had problems with the seats but they are staying AS IS because my eyes do not want to focus any.
But wow... I can really see it now so I need to fix that.
Next images will be in the Gallery so hope to see everyone's finished pictures there!

the stars aligned yesterday, and the weather outside was nice, plus the baby took a long nap, so I was able to get out and lay some paint on some jeeps!
first up, the one that wont qualify, but is still in progress...Standard MB with Legend stowage set. Undercoat of Floquil Brunswick Green, followed by Model Master OD, light mist of faded olive drab, and Field drab sprayed over parts of the stowage as prep for detail painting.

and now the one for the campaign, the USAAF jeep:
Undercoat of Floquil Brunswick Green, followed by Model Master OD green on the interior. Exterior has a coat of Floquil Foundation (over the Brunswick Green), followed by Model Master ANA Sand.
I already gave it a coat of Future this morning before heading in for work, so hopefully decals will go on within the next day or so!
I might actually make the deadline!

The resicast Wasp conversion actually looks more complex than it really is. The parts are really great, and everything fits well. The breakdown and assembly are very logical. I put what you see together in the matter of a few casual sessions.
what is even more impressive is the tubing and pipes are all cast resin, and cast in shape! So they are already cut and measured, sized, and molded to fit!

Here is my completed model for the Jeep campaign. It is an ancient kit from the mid 1950's by Monogram. I build what I have on hand. I added a wind screne cover made from tissue paper and Tamiya gas can to replace the one in the kit. Paint was Testors Model Master OD green applied using a very soft paint brush with chalk weathering.

I had a few moments last night, so I was able to get the decals on. Decals are from Echelon, and are outstanding quality. No issues whatsoever and went on very well over the paint (which had two coats of brush applied Future)
next up will be some detail painting, a coat of Future, then weathering/washes! I also have both the Eduard and Archer placards. I think the Eduard are a tad too large, so I may end up using the Archer set. We will cross that bridge when we get there!
Hope you all are liking something other than the standard OD/Green jeep.

Excellent work here, Jeff, Andy, eMan, and Brent. They're looking good in paint and shading and finishing.
I've given up on making molds for now. It wasn't going well, but I learned some things. Now back to building model kits-- much happier, faster, and less frustrating.
I'll post updates on my Jeep in a day or two here.

Hi Sean,
man, thats too bad. I was looking forward to seeing how your parts came out! If you had more time, I would suggest sending the masters to Joe at the New TMD and let him release a conversion set. He would prob send you several copies in return or something.
If I had more time, I would offer to mold/cast them up for you!

Andy, I'm no artist-- my details were pretty "soft", and it was specific to the Italeri kit, so the world isn't missing much. What is TMD? Anyway, the tailgate is glued fast to the Jeep body, so to remove it now would be detrimental to the build.
Carry on!
PS: I used the little search box above and my questions were answered. The New TMD sounds like a good deal. His detail pieces are impressive.
...and don't forget that 7 bars makes the grill copyrighted material, so we'd have to go through Chrysler to sell anything with that image.

I've been debating for a while whether or not to still try to build something for this campaign, and finally decided to give it a shot with about a week to go. These kits have been calling me from the corner of my work bench for quite some time:
With of course the now classic Tamiya kit:
And the resin and PE goodness of this Resicast update kit (RA Airborne Jeep):
As the first picture shows, I started working just after midnight, and here is my progress after about 2 hours of cleaning parts. Lots of ammo boxes and other stowage. Generally, the resin parts are good, but removing them from the casting blocks takes some work. I noticed a few small air bubbles, but nothing that a drop of superglue can't fix.
I don't know how far I'll get or if I'll finish by the deadline, but I feel like I'm getting the motivation to build back again, haven't had it for a long time. More to follow, as I try to do some frantic modeling while revisiting the builds in this thread (and there are some beauties!).

thanks Dave. I agree, a break from OD green is nice. The decal set comes with enough for 2 vehicles (plus loads of extra numbers). I found one other pic of a USAAF jeep with some grey-green camo oversprayed over the tan. Ill probally do that one at some point in the future.

Hi all.
Got most of my small parts painted the other day, been working on details. I'll have it somewhat ready in time.
Here is a photo of what I've been working on. put a wire in the sun compass, the dash placards are Archer. never worked with them before and I think I messed up the ones on the right side a bit. (note use a much milder clear coat in the future) but the dials look great

Hello everyone
had a runaway session last night and got a lot done. Not much left but some weathering, esp on the tires and some dullcoat.
I'm happy with it even if it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped, my vision outstripped my ability again.
And watching all the builds here has really been a learning experience, so I plan that my next jeep project will be better.
here is another in progress photo...

Hello everyone
I'll be uploading these to the gallery, I must admit not my greatest work, as I kind of felt the time crunch. But next time I think I will start with one of those newer kits and see what happens.
Its been a fun campaign and I've learned some stuff, and learned how not to do some stuff. LOL.
I'm calling it done.
