Frankly, I could simply take elements from the VIC-1 and -3 sets to make both VIC-2s. Only object then left to model are the C-11291 and the LS-671 which can then also be used in SINCGARS models if I get to them.

Cool beans. I will start measuring out the LS-671 tomorrow evening. It is all sorts of goofy shaped compared to the other comm equipment.

Ok. Cool. I'm surprised nobody's commented on the sights set yet. I thought this would be something people would want. Either way I'm almost finished with that new project. It's the M40GL by EOTech. This sight designed to be used with the M203 firing 40mm low velocity grenades.

Edit: Renders.

Michael, after you posted the renderings of the EOTech sights I was at work behind the dreaded US Gov firewall.I can't make comments because this is considered a blog and we can't interact with most blogs. I had guessed the EOTech line when I saw your teaser. When I get around to ordering, I will have to get the intercoms and a set of the sights. They will look really nice, I am sure. Thanks for your hard work on them. You are definitely meeting a need.

Regards,

Eric

The pre-SINCGARS set is pretty much finished I believe. I just have yet to upload it. I think I'll try to start some work on a SINCGARS set next. I'm trying to familiarize myself with the various systems and whatnot but it is getting very confusing.

I got the face of the speaker measured – what a gaggle of shapes. Pain in butt. I still need to do the sides, top & bottom. That should be a tad easier as well as help make sense of the front measurements.

Great drawing and dims. The shapes are crazy on it, but it is/was used with just about every SINCGARS system. A set of just these, like the 4-set of earlier speakers would be great too.

A couple pics.

Nice! Very nice. Now are you able to do 1 side view to get the heights of the features?

Absolutely. I plan on working on that tonight.

Gino, thanks for posting the pics, that's one less task for me to execute.

And we have the bottom of the speaker. Why couldn’t this *$!!&%$! manufacturer just make the stupid thing square like the rest of the comm equipment? Did they someone would eventually attempt to do this?

Eh. It's military equipment. I guess they didn't expect some silly model builders to actually attempt to replicate it.

The top was a bit easier than the face or bottom. It is essentially mirrored unlike the previous views. For the side I plan to do the left side and call out in a separate partial drawing of the difference from the right side (corner guards are different shape/size).

Thank you. I'll get on this one ASAP. Also, after a few (cumulative) hours of web searching, I had confirmed that the Cougar MRAP uses either the VIC-3 ROVIS, LV2 or a combination of VIC-5 with VIC-3 FFCS. Not sure yet. And I'm not sure if it's only the 6x6 version or the 4x4 or both. If anyone has any experience or knowledge of this, could you say which one is used?

I've gotten a start on the LS-671. It's going to take a while simply due to the complexity of it. In the meantime I've gotten back on the SINCGARS projects. I don't intend to include any of the manpack radios at this time - only the vehicular radios. I'm also not sure if I can provide a radio rack as it may be too thin. But if there's anyone who has experience with the SINCGARS units, could you please contact me? I need to know what's provided in most of the kits and AM sets in terms of the radios and various fittings.

FWIW: fixing the Bronco bridge parts would be great!

Generally, I'd love to see bridge sets from WWII in any form!

Is it possible to print the Igelpanzerung/Anti-bomblet armor as seen on Panzerhaubitze 2000 and Schützenpanzer Puma in a way like the Atak Zimmerit?

It is, although not like Atak unless you like sawing completely through the base of that part. I saw that Meng had, at one time, announced a 2000 with the Igelpanzerung.

Left side of the speaker measured. For the right all I plan on doing is the lower portion, specifically the connector guard. That is slightly shorter in height than the volume control knob guard.

Here's where I'm at with the speaker now:

Duplex Drive canvas and hardware

There's a DD skirt frame in 1/72, 1/48 and 1/35 for sale at Shapeways already. For some reference, the 1/72 frame costs $32.50 and the 1/35 frame is $110. The 1/48 frame is in between at $98.50. To design the canvas included would make the cost of this very inaccessible.

Very nice. The SINCGARS ASIP looks awesome. Are you also doing the larger ICOM version?

Yep. That's right alongside to the left. I've only done the ASIP so far. Everything except the front face I had to guess at based on a few pretty well angled pictures. On the front it was all tracing over a picture (I'll also probably end up doing that with the VRC-12 radio series). I'll be doing the same on the ICOM. On the back of these radios there are various connections. I've found a diagram for the ASIP. Should I include them or not bother as they won't be seen? And there's a battery for the RT-1523A/B/C/D. I don't think it's used on the vehicle-used radios so should I include that as well? I'm also not sure whether to provide the racks as they may not be printable.

And after only a mere 3 hours, some hair pulling out and a bit more head scratching, the LS-671 is almost done as well.

If you can include the connections on back, they would be useful to show the radios out of the mount. The man-pack battery case would be good too. If you can print the mount it would be best. The middle shelf could be left out and a thin sheet of styrene added for it. That is how Pro Art did their mounts as well; leaving it up to the builder to add the shelf.

The LS671 is looking awesome as well.
