I made the VIC-2 Set visible. I previously didn't have it shown because I had no description. Added that and put it up for sale.

Really enjoying watching this develop.

Any chance of an M113 sprocket &/or idler?

It's a possibility. Does anyone have the largest diameter of the M113 sprocket and idler?

Only that the track has a 6" pitch. The road wheels are 24" (1/1) diameter, so smaller than that. I'll see what I can find.

Edit: the idler diameter is 17.4".

Edit 2: the sprocket pitch diameter is 19.618 inches. That's the distance from the centres of opposite track pins resting on the sprocket. No mention of inside or outside diameters.

Thank you. From that I can trace the rest of the idler.

Is the above VIC-2 SINCGARS set on Shapeways yet? I don't see it there.

I uploaded the VIC-2 "SINCGARS" model. It's model number MSP35-014. Also, based on the popularity of the VIC-1 in Frosted Extreme Detail, I'll be removing the Frosted Ultra Detail option. As I've said before, I make no more money on the FXD models than I do on the FUD models.

Now here's a SitRep: The VIC-2 sets are finished. Other than a VIC-4, which I can't find any information on other than in name in a few places, the entire VIC lineup is complete. I just need to update the descriptions of both VIC-2 models. I will be continuing with the SINCGARS model now. I'm thinking about how to format the models to sell. I can make a full SINCGARS set including almost everything I can find on it. Including 2 or more of the ASIP (RT-1523E-F), 2-4 of the ICOM (RT-1523A-D) and 2-4 of the RT-1439 along with the different models of mounting bases and amplifiers and other devices. Or I can do sets based on the 3 major models of SINCGARS radio: RT-1439, RT-1523A-D and RT-1523E-F and including all the various other devices as well in each set. Or I can make sets for specific radio groups including only what would be needed to build that specific radio and nothing else.

On top of that, I can design the sets with all of the radios separate from the mounts and all of the amplifiers and other electronics also separate and requiring assembly or I could design everything integrally. Or I could design the radios separate and the mounts/amplifiers integral. In essence, this could be a kit in and of itself or it could be more or less drag and drop.

What do you think?

I prefer the kit in itself option. Having separate mount/amplifier/radio would give more options when building and detailing my kits.

When we transitioned to SINCGARS they didn't stay on the vehicle. They were checked out from the comm shop and installed when we went to the field. We even took the antennas down between field ops just like we had been doing for the previous radios (RT246/R442x2/RT524) Once they got the locking bars they stayed in, and the antennas were "glued" in place. At AVTB though, we only ever used one radio in the vehicle. And by the time I retired there were two of the 1523s in one of the mounts and two of the smaller Harris radios in the other mount.

I prefer the flexibility the idea of mini-kits of these radios would provide.

I agree with Daniel. A set with more options would be better than a fixed set of pre-assembled radios in their mounts.

I ordered the VIC-2 "SINCGARS" set but about hour or so later received an e-mail from Shapeways stating it could not be printed.

Yes I know. I need to go back and edit the area. Unfortunately I don't know what area they didn't like. But I think I have an idea of it...

Now, it will be unassembled. Which type of set? Full SINCGARS including everything SINCGARS, radio specific or model specific (RT+1439, -1523A-D, -1523E-F)? Consensus so far sounds like the full set.

I edited the parts of the model that needed editing according to what was shown on the preview. Some areas I didn't change because they would be too time consuming and they were printed correctly in previous tests and purchases. Hopefully now it'll print.

I have to go back in and re-edit parts of the VIC-2 model. My apologies, again, to anyone who has bought the VIC-2 model. Shapeways seems to have gotten stricter with their analysis process. I've also tried to restart the SINCGARS model but, once again, ran into problems with lack of measurements. I would be fine with tracing off of pictures but I can't find suitable pictures or diagrams. I've also then started on a AN/GRR-5 set.

Now I have an idea floating around for a set of the well known SOCOM or "Crane" stocks for the M4 carbine. So you'd be able to take this set and replace the stock of other M4 models. Thoughts?

Michael, any stock used on an M4 other than the LE model on most 35th scale M4s would be amazing. I think Bravo 5 makes one option for the true Crane stock. I might be wrong.

Actually I need to make a correction. It's not a "SOCOM" stock. It's a LMT/B5 "SOPMOD" stock. But it is also known as a "crane" stock for reasons that I have forgotten.

The NSWC center that developed the stock is in Crane Indiana. I had to look it up! It's just one of those trivia facts I couldn't pass up knowing!

Ah, yes. Thanks for refreshing that.

I finally got some more models in. This time it's a 1/700 set of Mk 14 torpedoes (also available in 1/350), the 1/35 holographic weapons sights set, a set of the LV2 intercoms in FXD and a 1/700 set of Mk 6 depth charges. Unfortunately the depth charges didn't print correctly with 50 individual charges completely missing and a few others not in the correct position. Lines of charges are printed though. I also got in a print of the logo I'm using.

Below I'm comparing the 553 in the set I designed to the Live Resin 1/35 552. On the real EoTech 553, a hood covers the sight apparatus and glass. This hood extends well past the front glass. This is represented well on the model even though it is very difficult to see because of the translucent color of the plastic.

The quality of the pictures is also lacking because I had to take them on my cellphone. I don't yet have a camera that is adept enough at macro photography.

I picked up this set for about £10 last year. It's actually quite good for Macro shots from a phone

And the SOPMOD/LMT B5 stock set is now finished. It consists of 9 stocks in 3 different buffer rube positions. Rendering will be up shortly after it is finished, which, for all intents and purposes, could not be until late tomorrow.
