The FAVs were used by the US Navy SEALs in the late '80s and in ODS ('90-'91). If you are saw teh Hobby Fan DPV, it is O.K., but not really that accurate. The bikes were last used about the same time.

Michael,
That Bradley is looking better all the time. Stunning build dude!
Chris,
the building looks great! Did you do that like Caomao by making a mold out of plastic like you planned? Looks very real.
Arkuo14,
The only place I have seen Seal DPV's in the last several years was in Afghanistan. They were the newer style Chenoworth 3 seater models. However, there were only like 2 pictures, so what they were there for I couldnt tell ya. everything those guys do is secretive.

You have pictures of the Chenoweth FAV (Fast Attack Vehicle) used by the US Navy SEALS. There is no kit of one on the market.
The resin kit is of a Desert Patrol Vehicle (DPV), similar vehicle but without the top gunner's seat. It is the only one out there and is by Hobby Fan.

Back when ODS kicked off, for a year or two, Dragon had pictures of that FAV in their cataloges. Then it just dissapeared. It would be nice that they would try it again with all there slide molding tech stuff.
I built the Hobby Fan Fav and it was pretty fun. The figures where especially nice for it.
Arkuo14,
I would watch what you call Gino, he might take offense to asking him if he's in the Navy!
LOL! He is actually an Army officer with a lot of knowledge. I would take advantage of everything he puts out. He is a really good guy and I only know him here on line, and I'm pretty sure he is really damn good officer!

I don't know of any specific instances, but won't say it didn't happen. We usually don't mix coalition vehicles and units that closely though. Each unit has their own sector to operate in and there are lines on the map that separate them and keep them from acidentally engaging eachother.

If I recall correctly, the UK 1st Armored Division sector was adjacent to the US 1st Infantry Division and 2d ACR sector, so it might be possible Challenger and Abrams tanks were in proximity of each other, but doubt they "fought alongside" each other. As Gino pointed out, units stay well separated within their own assigned sectors.

First, you are talking about two different conflicts. Operation Desert Storm (ODS) was in '91. The current war in Iraq, since 2003, is Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). Also, there in no "h" in Abrams.
Yes, the British Challenger 2 Desert version is in Iraq. The Brits are in the southern sector around Basra. There were instances when USMC M1A1HCs and Brit Chally 2s passed each other since the Marines did a passage of lines with the Brits in the south eastern part of the country during the initial invasion. It was not under fire, so they didn't fight along side each other though.

Talking about US military motorbikes, it appears that at least some M1030B1s (based on the Kawasaki KLR 650) are/were used in OIF/OEF by the USMC :

Michael,
There were M1114s allocated for some units. Like the 549th and 3rd military police Companies part of the 3ID out of Fort Stewart had them. When I was over there, In 2003-2004, I mostly saw them beginning used by MPs. Granted that I was in a military police unit, therefore I was around more MP units than anything else. But most of the other combat units that I was around had M1025s. Keep in mind I can only account for a small fraction of the units that were actually there, so expect someone to know of a a unit other than MP companys that used them.

I'd like to enter the campaign. I clicked the link to register, but I can't find anywhere to sign up...... maybe its just me.
I'm building an M1114 with all sorts of scratchbuilt stuff/PE based on the MIG conversion.
On the topic of off-road vehicles- the Army is using Polaris quads in alot of camps. I have yet to see one off post, but they are here, and they are painted green.

I seem to recall seeing the para rescue jumpers using Polaris quads in green as well. Too bad no one makes these in 1/35 as these would be rather difficult to scratch build.

Britains has released a Polaris Magnum 500 in 1/32nd scale :
and a Honda FourTrax 300 as well (also used by US troops) :
ERTL has released some 1/32nd Polaris ATVs too :
I've also found other "made in asia" 1/32nd ATVs that "should" be usable too as in some cases, the size discrepancy is IMHO not too noticeable...

Groundwork! Photos after a while of working on it...
Have fun.
Made with plaster and cardboard, sprayed with tamiya acrylics, still have some sand to add, and then dust it.
Figs still not even bought...

Just found my MLRS kit, so I'll be starting that tomorrow, as I finish another build. I'll enter the MLRS for this campaign.
