On the topic of off-road vehicles- the Army is using Polaris quads in alot of camps. I have yet to see one off post, but they are here, and they are painted green.

I finally found the time to airbrush the base color on my M113A3 last weekend. Here are some pics of where my build stands right now.
I still have a ways to go, and I decided to forgo the color scheme I was originally planning for (since the side racks would have obscured the area). Comments welcome.

I used Model Master 1706 Sand (FS 33531). I asked folks here on Armorama, and Gino, Pete, and others said it is an exact match for the CARC paint used on US vehicles.

Lucas, those side racks really came out good! It sucks its so hard to cast flat pieces, or else Id tell you to make molds of those bad boys and sell em! Im dragging my butt on my M113A3. Im up to photo etching, but I quit smoking a couple of weeks ago, and that stuff really makes me wanna smoke, so I am just doing it little by little. Keep up the great work!

I have decided on a model for this campaign. I follow a couple of photos of Iraq M901 TOW launcher., captured from the Kuwait forces in 1991. Plan to convert from a Academy M981 FISTV.

There is always the Italeri M901 ITOW model that would require no modifications at all. There are quite a few missing parts on the M981 and the targeting optics inside the head are different. The rear portion of the targeting head is also different on the M981 FIST-V as well

LHS still hasn't got figures in stock.
Guess it's internet buying time.

That would be OK, but I have yet to find one. Even the Italeri website does not mention it, so must be an older kit. Thanks for the info though. Was planning to replace the head with the M901 head from verlinden.

Its funny, but my LHS never has anything in stock or gets anything new. The owner always cries he doesnt make any money, but you cant make money selling something if you dont have it to sell in the first place When the M1A1 AIM first came out, I asked him to get one for me. I knew it would be pricey from my LHS, but I figured if I dont support them, theyre not gonna be there one day. Well, I went there for some paint about two weeks ago, and the owner says to me, "Oh, I have that AIM you were asking about". I laughed and said "Thanks, but that was over 6 months ago I asked for one. Im really not interested anymore" I didnt want to be rude and tell him I already got one off the net for like $20 cheaper 5 months ago. So, my point it Scott, if you ask for it, and they dont get it in a couple of weeks, dont waste your time, just buy it on the internet. I know I wont ask my LHS to get something for me again. Its just pointless.

Funny this should come up about LHS's never having anything new in stock. I have 2 friends who both own hobby shops. 1 owns a store front, and the other owns an internet hobby site. I can never get anything from the store front, yet my other freind with the internet site, always seems to have ALL of the latest kits in, and at 25% cheaper! And if he doesn't have it, he gets it within 3 days!
That's a no brainer on who to buy from!

Thank you for the internet
We have the same problem here where new kits are released and it will
be ages before any of the hobby shops get a hold of them.
The internet hobby shops give a quicker service ,they are cheaper
and they deliver to your door .
I rarely by anything local apart from paint and glue and everything is sourced off the internet .
Cheers

Talk of irony!
Bought the figs off the 'net the other day, was in town yesterday with an extra few bob, so i went into the LHS.
They had just got in 3 sets of the figures!
So i snatched them all, and the tamiya hummer, finally i can get started!

Been trying to get some done, but suddenly with the better weather, I have less time to work on kits. I will try to post some pics soon. I have the turret assembled and the upper and lower hulls done, but not combined. The real problem is I was only able to find 1 barrel. Still hoping I can find one this week. The kit barrels are very poor.

I just stumbled upon your OIF thread so I thought I would add to it. I did a M1025 that we used during OIF III. I based the build and paint scheme on what we had to use early on. The turret and air conditioning sytem were scrathbuilt from pictures I had taken. We didnt have all the gear hanging off of our trucks, everything was under the hatchback. But I tried to make it as it was. the pics are in the gallery.

Also a T-34.
T-34 is to the side a Little over spray but not bad also did the other 3 pieces for the turret so upper done.
Now on to the Hull.
Did cut those Handles off and bought the Echelon set for the Decals and the little Tamiya PE set for the Gun mount and screen
Great all around.

Update on my M1025:
I've finished the build. Still to paint certain parts, but mostly done.
Its the tamiya 1025, OOB.
I'm pretty skint, so it'll have to do for the moment.
I painted it to represent the marines, and then dusted it. This is the first stage of weathering.
Crappy Interior.
Outside.
The good thing is, that if i don't like the way it looks, all i need to do is rub the paintwork with a bit of tissue paper and it'll remove the weathering.

Just added a black wash to the first of my marines.
Will post pictures of my progress later on tonight, and if not, then tomorrow.
How's everyone else coming along?

Its not going so well here right now. I opened my Dragon MLRS box......and the discouragement hit me. I forgot about the individual track links, I have gotten used to one peice tracks. I also havent build anything with quite this many parts in a while. So, Im going to build an easy T-72 kit side by side with this. I fugure I can jump to the easy one when motivation gets low.
