I have finished my Opel, so I can focus on my dio again. Continued with the rock, the base is almost finished, and I will do first painting in some areas.

Thanks for looking

It looks like a very decent base to me.. But what impressed me is your water pipe
as painted above, with the little chain hanging and all, it is truly impressive, great model making truly

The watercrane looks very nice!!! I have no words for that.

Also I think about my (venusian) landscapes, and how to make them. For these 3 different ones, I will use real stone-powder. (Basalt)

greetings...
Soeren

Thank you, JBA and Soeren, much appreciated.
Actually, I have here good few bags with different powders, they are very handy for any ground work. Some ot them I tried around my warehouse, and the result is quiet good.
I am painting various shades on my rocks, and in between I have started some gardening as well

Thanks for looking

Hi,
I am just know starting to plan a diorama with the "Trumpeter" Typ SSy Schwerer Plattformwagen 60-ton railcar, and (3) Panthers - (1) Panzer IVJ from the 111th Panzer Brigade. So I will definitely be following your progress!! Up to know, it's really looking great.

I have yet to lay out my plan, but I need some information while I wait for my railcar from Dragon. I am glad the re-released it, since I didn't want to pay $125 on Ebay. I only paid $40 with shipping.

Can you tell me the dimension from the bottom of the rock base for the rails, to the platform height? I am guessing it's around 2-1/2" or so, but don't know since I don't have the physical model yet.

Thanks!

Wow, the washed rocks have a really "real" look!
That is nearly the look, which I want for one of my bases.

greetings..

Thank you all for your nice comments.
Jon, thats a good call, I have never got one of them Ssy yet, just 80 ton platform. Actually I was gonna scratch build one some other day, but I have not started yet About the dimension, I´d say that can be slightly different for various cars, for Ssy I would think about 1.30 - 1.40 meter from the top of the rail, what could be 4cm like in 1/35
Thanks Soeren, I have done also some dry brush on the edges, but just very light one and no pictures taken yet
Thank you, Martyn, much appreciated.
Cheers

Hi,
Dragonusaonline.com has a couple of great deals on rail cars. Not sure what your shipping cost would be from your location, but maybe you can look at something local.

One question: does any of you rail car experts know, if you can connect together as a train, both DML and Trumpeter plattform railcars and condola type ones?? I just got 2 DML Schwerer plattformwagen Typ Ssy and planning to put it together with TRP condola one, if I can´t get those Orange box ones from C-H.

Thank you, Jon, I have Ommr built already, but their flatbet is not really important for me to have. I tried to order one of them Ssy from America two days ago, so I hope I can get it
Ssy
Kimmo, no problem, all these kits can be easily coupled together

Painting job on the dio rock finished, I started with footpath. A bit of grass will be added also around the top of the rock and at the right side of the footpath, then I will continue with lower areas.

For lower grass I have made static grass flocking tool, part of electric fly killer and my wife´s streiner used. However, the result is just working perfectly I will do my gardening quiet easy and quickly.

Nice composistion. I like the elevation of rocks. I would like to see more dark washes on the rocks to give more depth.

How does the static grass tool work? Does the grass go through the strainer? Does it get waved over the grass?

Thank you, Scott, the tool works just great.
Another dark wash applied on the rock (still wet on the picture) and grass base glued on at the front. I will try to get various appearance using additional bunches of different grass, just like at the back, but not so wild. I have also started work on stop bar.

Here the stop bar weathered and gardening at the front finished. Now I will do the part below the rock and then continue to the left.

Hi Again, Just stopped by to check on your progress . I enjoy watching as this Dio takes shape and as I have said before your work here is AWESOME !

Kimmo, glad that you asked that question, I was wondering the same thing about coupleing the Trumpeter and Dragon railcars together.

Keep On Modeling, milvehfan

Thank you, Milvehfan, you are always welcome
Another progress done, dark wash will be applied on the rails later and some dust and greasy spots as well. The sharp border between grass and ballast will be fixed too.
