Well I'm sure you'll fix it Matthew. In my opinion that's just a mater of tub walls thickness. That's the drawback of using resin...

It would be quite a pity leaving closed the rear hatches.

Crews usually leave them always open

The electrical duct on the top hull behind the headlights is on my list of things to do, in fact my list of things to do seems to be getting longer instead of shorter

I know, it seems an endless build.
Anyway following your outstanding job I've been tempting to restart mine JNA T-55 soon

cheers

This picture is perfect for what I need, thx Spider

With regards to you starting another T-55, I think its called having the T-55 bug, once you got it, you cant cure it

I love T-55's because of the history, when you consider that the T-54 was on the drawing boards at the end of WW2, and hit production in 1946 (i think), and then consider that the T-55 is still around today, thats one hell of a history for a tank.

Plus it looks good

Well, T-55is the most produced tank of the history and maybe the most employed... Fascinitating like no other one

...yes, I'm a "T55- addicted"

This is a really fantastic build- excellent scratch-building and detailing. That fan must have taken a while but it sure looks worth it.

Very cool step by step, at least for those who just look at it
You did a great job so far, keep on that way and you can be proud of your model.

As you can see Main radiator is under the main grilles. Between main radiator and grilles there are engine shutters (Which can be opened or closed. It depends on the external weather conditions. For exemple in case of nuclear attack they were totally closed).
it'll be invisible unless you open the grilles port (main radiator actually is attached to the port as you can see in your pic)
That's the reason why, CMK didn't make it

You can skip it in my opinion...

Hi

Been watching with interest, nice to see your progress with this build. Mauro has been helpful to you so far. Here is a pic of my own attempt at the radiator etc, Verlinden is too shallow in depth..The CMK oil cooler lacks some detail too..

Regards
Andy

Thx for the great pictures

CMK do supply the shutters, but the problem is they simply copied the Tamiya shutters and are therefore showing in the open posistion,

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

So I might as well just keep the Tamiya shutters -

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Because I am not fitting the armored covers that go over the top of the middle engine deck, its possible to see through into the engine bay, and with open shutters you can see through to the Oil cooler and the Rad.

So, my options are - either close the shutters (fairly easy, simply scratchbuild some closed shutters) or put the Rad in

Now, considering that one of the aims of this build is to create "depth" by allowing views into the model interior, I think shutting the Shutters is not a good option.

On the plus side, I have found an old Verlinden T-62 Rad, I can sort of make it fit if I want, cut n shut job.

Not decided yet, I quite fancy making a new Rad, lol

Matthew
On my JNA t-55 I've noticed that is almost impossible to see anything under the metal grilles and the shutters.
I'm sure you'll be able to do an outstanding work with your main rad, but in my humble opinion at the end of the work it'll be little visible and that, considering your skill, it would be quite a pity...anyway, is just my opinion. Do what you feel and carry on

Hi Andy

This is an outstanding model indeed!
Have you already painted it?

If yes I'd like to see how...

Congrats!

Well done

These look always in awful conditions

Hi Guys

The rear hooks are not depicted correctly in the Tamiya kit, however i have made a Master for casting which hopefully will be available later in the year along with a few other items for the T-54/55.
