Here's what I'm trying to achieve...the first photo reflects the visor being slid to the side, whereas the second photo shows the visor in place. You can see the (blue) light indicators.

Hello! I love the build so far, I'm going to learn allot on this one! I have read allot of bad comments about Verlinden's kits, next time you should check out some of Tank Workshops kits, the quality is unbelievable, and the instructions are good, and it seams to me that they are priced well. The only negative about their site is that the pictures leave allot to be desired. I have never asked, but I bet the owner Jay might send additional pic's of his kits if you asked him to.

I agree that TWS products are excellent quality, but for detail per $ Verlinden reigns supreme. I tried going with a CMK for my Pz. IV, because it looked to be of better quality and I much resent it. That was $50 down the drain and I still have to purchase the Verlinden kit.

Pat, I've seen discussions regarding TWS kits. Unfortunately, I don't have any first hand experience with them. However, I'm game to give them a shot. In fact, since I'm not going to use the Verlinden engine compartment on this build, Mason, my 11 year old son (MasonTheKid here in Armorama) made the suggestion that I can buy a TWS interior, A Pz. III Ausf J and give him the Verlinden engine kit...all for him to build.

Just looking at the pics on the TWS site, if anything, the transmission linkages look better detailed than the Verlinden. There is only one way to find out....get a kit and compare.

What, I think, lacks in all of the kits are things like gyrocompasses, KFF2 periscopes, turret indicator lights and spring linkages...the small things that I've now become obsessive over....and Mason, who's looking over my shoulder the entire time, keeps pointing out (like interior light tubes for interior illumination).

Another reference picture to share (that was shared to me). Here, in this Pz. III, much of the equipment has been gutted out. However, we can see the frame for the KFF2 periscope and the conduit and boxes for the turret position indicator lights.

Here I've weathered the main hull section. I'm in the process of trying to "build" a canvas bag of extra MG barrels to store on the transformer wall.

For your canvas bag for MG barrels: use lead foil. It's awesome. sorry but I don't have pics, but I have a link.

The interior is spectacular! You can also use epoxy putty or air dry clay for your barrel cover.

Guys, thanks for the ideas! I started the bag "build" by gluing three thinned sprue pieces the length of the the 1:35 mg barrels together and wrapped them in tissue paper that I used water based white glue to form the bag around the "barrels" and then used thinned acrylic to color the "fabric". Once that is completely dry, I will create belts as straps and a top that matches the ammo bags.

Thanks Guys. Even though I have a long work history in emergency medicine as a Paramedic (now retired approx. 15 years)...and having dealt with death and it's impact on those around it, I am having a hard time coping with this. The "walls" I long since stopped building are no longer there to protect me.

However, I did finish the MG barrel bag...it became a 6 barrel bag by the time I was done. Lessons learned. Also tweaking the top more.

Sorry about your mum Neil and I hope you, Mason, and the rest of your family arecoping with the loss. One of the good things about this hobby is it can concentrate your mind on other things.

Darren, this is so true....thanks for the condolences!

Here's where I've gotten to...kind of slow but...

...my apologies for the lighting...just not in the mood to get them positioned in the sun properly
