Looks lived in. Are you planning on adding and of the crews' gear?

Yes...on the outside. Outside the extra mg barrel bag and ammo bags, I'm keeping it minimal on the inside when it comes to gear. The Panzer III's didn't have a lot of room to maneuver around (for the crew), so most of the personal gear was kept outside. The crew will be mounted outside in a diarama.

This is quite the project you've got going Neal. Look forward to seeing it come to life.

Was going back over the last couple of pages and I must have missed this, but I am truely sorry to hear about your mom. Don't know how I missed that.
Good to see you are taking to the bench, helps get the mind off things.
best

Moving forward, I started working on the tracks (not shown) and fenders as I wrapped up the primary hull....just a couple minor additions are needed

Any progress is good progress Neal! I do have one question though (sorry I didn't catch this earlier), the driver's plate armor on the G wasn't spaced, it was an added-on bolted plate...any particular reason you've spaced it ala the vorpanzer seen on the Js and Ls?

Sure! That's what was in the kit, instructions and box art

I like the progress so far, your little Panzer 3 is getting there and with only the turret left to do the construction phase is almost completed too.

I thought that might be the case...the Imperial Series Pz III kits have some doozies in the instructions. This is how it should really look.

I built that same kit a while back and kept a build log of the process...not sure how much help it will be to you at this stage, but here's the link if you're interested: Pz III G DAK build

Wow....thanks! Guess I've to make a quick change : - )

In fact, I went and dug the box up and sure enough, there is a pic on the side of the box that clearly shows the plating as you have it.....doh!

While looking over the model, I realized that my air filter frames and filter plates were on wrong...they never looked right to me, but I knew I would figure it out. I turned to Mason, to use his eyes to best seperate them from hull for the fix...which he did superbly....I wrecked three of the four weld bars on the front armor plate fixing that goof....
.

......never too old to learn

My pleasure Neal! I'm just glad you hadn't yet started painting or I'd have felt really guilty about pointing it out.

No worries.....it's very much appreciated. My son, Mason, has been watching over my shoulder (I think it gives him an excuse for him to hold off building his Sherman, as he wants me to watch him), and he's learning from my mistakes

The mg barrel cintches it, I'll have to order one for my Pz.IV. I hate to see the interior covered up. But, I understand. I'm at a crossroads with my build. I want to do a full interior. But, I'm not sure how to make it fully visible at Nats.

Retiredyank,

I totally agree about the mg...I plan on doing another Pz III at a later time, just not an Ausf G...most likely the Ausf L since I have the engine kit already. I think I will use quality (metal) barrels all around on that one.

Think about keeping the hatch doors open...this is the direction I will go with the next one. I used this build as a test, if you may.

Done and done. I'm considering elevating the turret from the upper hull and elevating the upper hull from the lower hull.

I got the fenders attached. In the process, I found that I mounted the antennae rack was not mounted correctly. The two molded squares dictate the middle and rear supports...which I have the supports in properly, so it must be the direction of the middle support that I placed in wrong

Started the turret...I didn't like the look of the plastic grab handles, so I cut and bent wire (guitar string) and used that instead

Well, I got a few more things done on the turret...and spent an hour looking for the Verlinden parts for the turret without success....I think my cat made off with the bag of goodies..

What kind of guitar do you play?

Very nice build. Good luck finding those parts.
