What kind of guitar do you play?

I found the ventilation fan....but nothing else (that darn cat!), so I'm using flat plastic sheeting and small pieces of wood and plastic bits to form the vision frames and mechanisms. Small gauge wire is used for the wire runs.

LOL! Thanks Gary...in a way it's very fitting. My wife watches closely the funds spent for myself and for Mason (MasonTheKid here) with some...shall we say..."special looks" when I start talking about needing something for our builds. I certainly got "the look" when I told her the cat must have made off with the remaining parts for the interior. For some reason, she has never scrutinized purchases made strictly for Mason.....

...the rest of the story is that I went to order another interior kit and found that my usual suppliers were out of stock...they were on Ebay, but I had never purchased from those dealers and was unsure, so I started working with scratch building what I could.

...update....my wife overheard me talking to Mason about my post earlier and guilt got the best of her....I was "allowed" to order the Verlinden interior. This is good because I wasn't sure how to scratch build the main breach assembly.

Nice work on the scratch details Neal and not bad work guilting the wife into allowing some extra funds for the interior!

Thanks!

Slowly moving on though as I wait for the goodies to arrive. Here I am using scrap pieces of resin to make up some of the parts. It would really be nice if there were aftermarket vision blocks and mechanisms....

I like the turret interior, lots of detail.

Please post a picture of the offending Cat so that we can identify and avoid him, when completing our complex models

AFV Club makes periscopes for the Tiger and Sd.kfz. 251 series. You may be able to use these if you put a little work into it.

A few more "advances"...showing off some of the faults (as an educational point), the pistol port handles aren't exactly accurate...they are small sprue pieces trimmed...the wire coming off of cross-turret top conduit ended up just a tad short (but I don't think it will show through the open hatches ). The other faults (that do bug me) include not being able to cut small enough pieces of wood to create the sides of the cross-turret top conduit and the visor mechanisms being too wide....lessons learned.

On the upside, I used another piece of guitar string for the conduit hose coming off of back wall fuse panel..

I decided to keep the pieces I've created and put in place and not use the Verlinden pieces that are on the way...I'll save those for something else....I'll use the main and machine gun pieces though

The turret interior looks very nice. Depending on how visible the interior of the periscopes is, you may be able to scratch them with clear plastic and plain styrene sheet.

I agree great work on the turret.

Yes I also agree the Cat is clearly evil, I have two Cats but they never go near any of my moddling stuff. Thats how they have made it to 7 years old.

Making great strides with this one Neal. Once you get the gun installed you'll find that the turret interior is a pretty crowded space so I wouldn't be too concerned about 100% accuracy so much on that score.

A few more tweaks added. I had to alter the gun mantlet (?) on the inside so it is flat and accurate.

Here's a quick shot done with inside lighting... every time I use inside lighting, the red's don't show up correct....that is red oxide (primer)...
