It is a rubber boot that fits over antenna because the antenna will cause burns if touched. It is very high voltage, it is attached to an antenna coupler (weird looking box on the driver side cargo body) that produces the high voltage.

Hey guys anyone know if there is a SPARK II kit in 1/35 for Panda M-ATV?
Blast and Legend have the Sparks I version and Blast has discontinued that one already.

I hope no one minds if I wake this thread up. I'm making a paper model of this truck and am looking for the name of the angular box on the rear of the rack, right-side.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Just saw the question about the trailer. I have no idea what they had in there. I can say what we'd carry in ours on occasion. We worked closely with the Afghan National Police (ANP) so we would often carry C-Wire, Hesco's, MRE's and things like that in the trailer. We'd sometimes bring out TOW ITAS and missiles, as well as extra missiles for our Javelin, though the CLU and one missile rode with me. A few cases of MRE's and extra cases of water and sometimes extra fuel cans were in there too. The only thing we never carried in there, outside of the missiles, was ammo or weapons systems. The only reason the missiles went in there is they didn't fit anywhere else.

Thank you Steve. Very helpful. Does anyone please have photos of what a bunch of HESCOs look like when packed up for transport? I assume flat fencing with cardboard? Rolls of fencing? I have only seen them filled with rocks and dirt after stacking. Thank you for your service

Saw an MATV the other day with Hesco wiring/mesh in leu of the rpg netting. Sort of bent to shape since there was no frame for it. I will look around for that truck again maybe try for a pic. Just another variant for your consumption.

The silver/white stripes you are referring to are defrost strips inside a couple of layers of the transparent armor/glass. They show up as different colors (white/silver/yellowish) depending on your angle, how clean the surface, etc. They are supposed to work pretty much like the rear defroster in an automobile.

Ooh, okay, I see what you're talking about now. I have no idea, I never noticed it before oddly enough. I wonder why it's only on the front windows.

Hi guys,
A bit of a necropost.
I have a couple of MRAPs in my stash.
The Panda M-ATV is on hold due to the build being so tideous.
And I am now focusing on the Meng Cougar 6x6.
I have been reading a lot of your very useful threads.
Apparently too much as I cannot find anymore a link for the tow bars (unless I dreamt about it).
Pretty sure somebody posted a link for a manufacturer in 1/35.
Not the Legend set that has the folded bar.
Besides, does the Talon litter exist in 1/35?
Thanks again for all the information you guys share.

Fascinating. Had no idea these trucks were deployed outside of the mid-east and CONUS.
Wonder if there are any in Europe?
Thanks for posting.

@ Thomas, a reasonable Talon litter in 1/35 is made by Diti; in the US you can find them on eBay through Dragon Hobby in Virginia. You get two open and two collapsed litters in the set. They look the part, however the actual litter's bed is a polypropylene mesh so that it can be deconned effectively unlike the old canvas litters. Just got a set of them from the seller and I recommend them.

Quoted TextQuoted TextWhats up with the Antenna mount on the drivers side rear? Looks like it has a flexible neck on it like a straw.
Also how common is the CROWS setup on the M-ATV? I'm planning on building mine with one, and I've only seen one or two photos and it was a destroyed vehicle.
As I recall those are for Harris radios, but I'm not a commo guy so I could be wrong. Maybe someone else could chime in.
Yes, that antenna is for a Harris radio. The accordion shaped piece is a simple rubber cover over the tilt/whip adapter-
I've searched the Internet but I couldn't find any 1/35 add-on kit with this antenna mount; is there anyone of you fellow modellers that can provide suggestions ?
Thanks.

It is an HF antenna without the rubber insulator/boot. I have not seen one on the hobby market.

The AFV Club M1130 Stryker kit has that antenna mount and the Accessory Parts Set for Striker kit# FV35S59 has it too.
