Well, the Seahawk has been sanded and cleaned in preparation for the primer coat of paint. There was very little filler needed for this 1950's kit. The head, (Roger the Pilot) remains with his noble craft while ditching.

A little more sanding on the F-15 the rudders are next, maybe I'll get some paint on this weekend.

Cheers Rob.

OK, for some reason the previous post won't show the pics, despite the IMG text being visible when I click on edit.

Hi everyone! I decided to join this campaign and see about getting a moldy goldy (or two) built. After looking at what was around collecting dust I picked this one:

It's pretty ancient and a bit soft on details compared to newer kits but I wanted something to experiment my painting skills on. Here's the sprues minus a couple of parts that broke off and are still in the bag.

Here's the lover hull pieces together and the fit was unexpectedly quite good.

I decided to spiff it up a bit so I drilled out the lumps of plastic that are supposed to be lift rings and cut out the little vision slots for the drivers area.

While trying to enlarge the hole in the lifting rings, one snapped and broke. I figured that I'd drill some holes for some brass wire versions after taking off the moulded on clumps. It went pretty good and I think the new ones look much better.

Regards,
AJ

Update.

Back to paint for the white winter camo. I was going to apply it with a brush but after looking at some pictures of the actual vehicle, the coat seemed to be pretty tight. I sprayed it with several thinned coats of flat white. In some places, the gray undercoat sort of shows through.

Putting the little lady back together.

And now the push. I went ahead and knocked this one out yesterday and earlier today. I did a "reverse dry-drush" of dark gray over the white to bring out the details beneath. I followed it with a very light drybrushing of steel. Decals came from the leftovers box of decals. They are a mixed bag, but they are pretty close.

And there she is. A Panzer II/F of LSAH during the Manstein Offensive of 43. I declare her done. I'll get some pictures of her and the Bergepanzer IV up in the Campaign Gallery in the next few days.

This one was fun and the Panzer II marks the very first SS vehicle that I have ever modeled. Unfortunately this is my last pre-2000 kit that I can honestly say I've had for any length of time. All the others I have are more recent purchases. Yup, I officially have my stash sort of caught up...and I emphasize "sort of caught up".

Comments?

Great work.
The Tamiya Stuart is one of my favorite kits and one of my favorite builds as a kit.
Can't wait to see the results.

@ Brent: hope you managed to save the aircraft and pilot Roger from those merciless depths

@ Steph: coming on just fine, nice start to the weathering

@ Rob: wow, all that filling sanding certainly has paid off dude

@ Neil: nice looking F16, what nationality will it belong to? Isreal has some cool camo schemes

@ AJB: welcome mate, cool choice there, I can remember chasing and loosing 2 of those in my parents garden

@ Alex: beautifully done mate, that amazes me time and again how you do that with your sight impediment

@ Irvin: looking good, I see you have also made acquaintences with putty and sandpaper
Stick in there, Rob has shown us all what can be done

My Hetzer has been returned to a base coat of green, the disc camo was just to big, so I´ll go for a hard edge 3 tone camo of light grey, green and redbrown.
I might even get some on today

Happy Easter all,
don´t eat too much chocly, the melted stuff is a pain to get off the kits

Thanks Paul. The colorblindness thing doesn't factor in nearly as much as you'd think it would.

I have most of the parts all cleaned up I have done an awful lot of filling, sanding, filing and carving still a bit more to do on the engine nozzles, but it's mostly painting now.

Cheers Rob.

Actually, that's not true, the NSAWC is in the 1/48 campaign!

This F-16 will be a very early A model of the 388th TFW at Hill AFB.

Let the ridiculousness begin. 42 pieces of "mouldy styrene". Nothing small and fiddly, this should be fun and relaxing. Decided to do it fully old school and hand paint it all the way with testors enamel.

First things first; cement, sand, and paint all the subassemblies. Seam lines were very heavy but I got most of them.

Painting of the hut is still incomplete. The fit of most of the pieces were very good, with only some warping of the "wood" stringers where the engine sits. I will have to straighten then out to get the engine to actually sit where it is supposed to.

Used a buildup of heavily thinned flat white paint to do the tire logos. Huey must be really strapped for cash going with these knockoffs.

Huey himself is probably the only place I will use an airbrush, in order to get an even flat green skintone. Here he is primed and sanded waiting for his turn.

If I finish this up quick enough I promise to atone by also submitting an Airfix BV-141.

Hi all you paleontologists,
hope your all well, as there hasn´t been much happening
for a while I thought I´d give you all a "wake up call" .
We have 23 days left and there are some cool projects going on here. I´d hate to see them unfinished, that´s why I´m counting the days. Most of you should be in the painting stage now, as I am too for the second run .

So I have the camo on and tomorrow will gloss and decals, and possibly a first wash:

O.k. the round yellow thing is out in a cloudless sky,
so I´m going to my allotment to have a beer outside , even though it´s only 4°C .

Have a nice Sunday all,

Paul

Paul

p.s. It´s now dark and bloody cold so I´m back inside my flat and enjoing the beer there.

Just when I thought it was safe to head to the paint shop it 'seams' that the body requires a little more filler and sanding. So it goes, on my Cambrian era model.

This is a pleasant construct; not a bit grating at all.

I second that compliment on your camo Paul -- very nice! Did you cut masks for it?

I started to weather the Brummbar over the weeked. Will be posting some pics soon.

Cheers,

Tat
