I love seeing all of these old kits, it shows that people model for the joy of it. I've been waiting, I had to order a set of vac canopies for a Liberator so I could get an astrodome for my PBJ-1J. I cut the bottom off of the turret and filled it with sheet plastic, then cut the hole for the astrodome. So it's finished as far as this build is concerned. Sometime in the future I may hang a couple of Tiny Tim rockets under it though

Hey lads, there are some really nice things turning up now , there´s still 3 days to go, maybe someone can
clobber an old Airfix 1/76 kit together in that time
Lap Man: cool little 251, nice build there Kinda reminds me of my wargaming days as a kid
Rob: cool looking discolouring on the nozzles , I shall use some of your tips on the Meteor I have
David: what a classic kit, and how you presented it
Excellent dude.
Mike: very "blue", cool build with an old kit and old conversion
AJB: it is shame that the 3 days probably wont be enough for you to finish. If you wish I´ll contact John (Nito74)
and get an extension in for lets say 2 weeks?
It´s up to you mate.
Everyone else please make sure you have your finished pics in the Gallery.

Hi there,
I´ve put in a request for a 14 day extension to this.
There´s a couple of lads out there that haven´t gotten all of the bones out of the ground yet
Paul
Edit:
Just gotten news from John (Nito74) the campaign now runs
until the 15th of May.
Thanks John.

2 week extension is great news!
Circumstances has prevented me from starting my kit.
I'm pretty sure I can pull it off now.

Paul and John,
I was almost to the point of unenlisting and decided to check the campaign thread one last time. Thank you for the extension, it is much appreciated. I actually got some work done on seeing how to fix the uneven drivers slits. No luck with that so I started filling them and then see what I can do. I think I didn't have the right tools and perhaps bit off a bit more than I could chew.
Regards,
AJ

Paul - This is truly great news! Thanks for that. I've suddenly found no time to spare for any "creative" ventures".
Some great finished projects I see. Two week extension is perfect.
Let's just say any spare time I did get this past wknd was spent digging out and setting up the ol' airbrush!
Thanks for the extra time and great to see all the completed kits!
Cheers Dave

Great news Paul. I've also run into a busy season and three campaigns to complete. My little Sea Hawk needs a day or two before the white cures before I apply the gray. I brushed the top in gray to try my soft paint brush. The Testors brush I used was very smooth and it turned out well for an undercoat. I'll airbrush the final coat though.

Good news about the extension. I sprinted to the finish of April 30. This is my finished build photo. I don't think the extension would have helped this build. The kit had a lot of kinks. I learned some new skills and brushed the rust off others. The decals on the wings were thick as cardboard and the ones on the fuselage thin as a hair. No amount of Micro-sol could get the crosses on the wings to lay down. The crosses on the side had a mind of their own, laying where they wanted. Finally they settled in and silvered like my 100 lb pet hound dog. Then I put the color cup filled with flat lacquer into the air brush and it fell out spewing all over the wing and horizontal stabilizer. I waited for it to dry and started sanding. When I repainted the paint didn't match. I rubbed my fingers all over the new paint, rubbing in oils, to get the paint to match up the rest of the model. I'm glad to be finished with this kit. It's all good and considering the experiences I'm happy with the outcome. So enjoy, and thank you for thinking of this campaign. The photo is uploaded into the Campaign Gallery.

Hello,
From my last post, I followed on with putting on a matte coat and prepared to move on to the final stages. Somehow it just didn’t look right. So with just over a week before the deadline, I decided that a repaint was in order.
I’ve had previous success on stripping paint using Simple Green household cleaner, it works it magic on paint overnight. But since I didn’t have enough to fill a small tub, I thought Mr. Muscle would have more punch.
Left it overnight, and voila – I am happy to report that it didn’t work. Well it probably would have, given a bit more time.
Needed to do a quick paint strip so I turned to brake fluid. My first time to use it – its messy, but it sure is better than inhaling lacquer thinner fumes. The household cleaner is still a better solution for me, but I just had to settle for what was available.
I decided not to re-do the camo, so I settled for a plain dunkelgelb paint job.
Experimented a bit on this modulation thing, but I guess that’s something I have to learn and practice more. One thing I really tried to control is over-the-top weathering – I guess that’s what drove me to do a re-paint in the first place. However, since the wheel details are too soft (I had a tough time painting these) – I just went for the old grime and mud trick to conceal the shortcomings. So it was back to a dirty finish.
Here it is. Though an extension has recently been granted, I thought I’d stop before I get into further trouble. I hereby declare the build finished – any and all comments are most welcome:
Additional pics posted in the campaign gallery.
Paul thanks for having me in this campaign, I really enjoyed this one. It’s good you didn’t give up on your Hetzer. Kudos to all fellow-campaigners!
Cheers,
Tat

Well, even without the extension I managed to just get it done!
F-16A from Hasegawa 1/48 kit. Superscale decals used to represent the 388th TFW at Hill AFB in the early 80s, weapons from various Hasegawa weapons sets. 78-002 was the 2nd production F-16 (4,500 later and still counting).
Thanks for the campaign guys, great idea!

It's nice when things work the way you think they will.
Neil,
Very Nice!
Well,
Since there was an extension I have decided to take a little more time on the ordinance, and will add two more drop tanks.
Here is where I'm at now.
Cheers Rob.

Hi there,
well I did ask a week before the end if anybody needed an
extension and it looked like no-one wanted one ,and now
there´s life coming out of all sorts places .
M.Douglas. for rubbish decals you sure made a good job of them . A nice plane from memory lane
Tat: fantastic, I think #2 is better than #1. Could this be a catching thing to change the paint job
Maybe that could be a campaign of it´s own - "Change the paint job at least 2ce campaign"
Neil: your F16 looks great , I´m amazed how you guys
make these canopys look so cool. Many a model from "then" had/has thick slabs of something instead of these delicate looking items.
(Or have you all been cheating )
Rob: yours is also a fantastic looker, I hope the canopy turns up in time to make it perfect
Dave: what do have against plastic barrels . At least it was one piece, or is my memory playing games again
. Stick in there mate you´ll get it done in time

Thanks for the comment Paul.
And thanks also for the consideration in asking us folks re need to extend the deadline.
I was tempted to say yes, but since I decided on the late color change, I might as well deliver within the deadlne. Happy it turned out better, maybe I'd try the camo on a bigger Stupa.
A "paint-it-twice" campaign, why not? Or maybe something like a "makeover" campaign -- seems to be a popular theme on reality tv shows these days...
Cheers,
Tat

Mike, i cant see the pics from your "wingy thing" right now, (but i saw them yesterday), really nice work.
Brent, i really hope you finish on time your Sea Hawk. We don't get to see many British jets.
M. Douglas, your Stuka tankbuster looks great! I'm currently working on a 1/32 nd scale reset of that mean beast! Really nice work!
Tat, now that's really nice work! Glad to see you were determined to make an even better job!
Neil, that's a very good looking F 16. Good work!
Rob, the whole build looks great but the cockpit even better.......
Dave, looking good. Waiting to see some paint on it.
I don't know about the rest but i would be up to a "RESET that old ....... campaign!!!!!!!!"

Paul,
I have no idea if or when the canopy will arrive.
John,
Thanks!
I got the ordinance finished and added two drop tanks from an early Tamiya kit. That kit is being built for the Birds Of Prey campaign on Aeroscale.
I painted all the bands on the missiles and the formation lights on the wing tips by hand, not very well mind you but I can live with it. It's funny how long it takes to finish up the little details at the end.
I also fitted the canopy from said Tamiya kit for the shots to go in the gallery.
This has been an enjoyable campaign and if there is another I would ask that it be a little longer.
Cheers Rob.
