Would that they did but to change molds would be to admit they made a mistake with the first model so I doubt it.

Don't see why not, Academy (M3 running gear)& Bronco (chaffee turret) have.
Also the HobbyBoss 83833 SWB, with .50 pintle over cab, & twin spare tyre carrier behind cab, was supposed to be released about a year ago??

That would be wonderful if HB takes heed of consumer feedback.
As much as people love slagging Dragon, they have an impressive history of admitting prior screw ups and correcting molds for future releases.
Heck, even go back to 1989. I consider this a watershed moment in 1/35 AFV modelling. Tamiya issued kit 35146, Tiger I, late production. This really started the ball rolling with Tamiya back into the 1/35 arena after a decade of un-inspiring releases. Then came DML, Academy, AFV Club, Trumpeter, a re-invigorated Italeri -- and others.

Well we asked for a new CCKW and I think we finally got it!
Not just a LWB with a different load but the first Short Wheel Base - 325 CCKW ever to be offered in plastic!
BMM Models' website in the UK is listing the new HobbyBoss offering as available!
I'm guessing this one will have all the same cab and fender problems as their LWB fuel truck but to finally have a SWB Deuce in plastic is something that cannot be overlooked!
________________________________________________________________________________
Not to be a spoiled sport but HobbyBoss did originally announce that this one was to be available with a hole in the head and a gun ring. I want to see all that heavy iron behind the cab holding that gun ring out past the spare tires and floating over the cab one day.
I'm guessing that model will come along shortly after!

The Nuremburg Toy Fair pic showed it mounting a 50. cal.
It make's since that after all the flak about the cab on the first release and it was suppose to be released a year ago they may have worked on the molds and fixed the error's . We'll find out as soon as some one get's their hands on a kit and post some pics.

What about some 'super off road' versions:
Maybe they've been shown in this thread before, but if not...enjoy!!!

Great thread. It's been a cold weekend here in Wis .Spent most of it going through all the post's refreshing my memory and still seeing things I missed.
Got back to working on my Deuce projects a couple Italeri closed cab kits. Sanding and priming on a lwb and working on a frame and drive train for a swb build.
That is why I went through all the post double checking things before I start cutting on the load box. I know Hobby Boss has a swb coming, maybe I'll just get the frame and closed cab ready for their load box or take all the measurement's for the gas tank and load box off their kit.
To all of you modelers in the Northern parts stay warm and to all you out East my sympathy.

Check out www.themodellingnews.com
Spru shots of the Hobby Boss SWB Deuce. The fenders and doors still don't look right. The load box looks like it beats Tamiya's.
It does state and I quot Details finely represented by newly tooled parts.
It looks like the LWB frame rails are there but not enough spare tires.

Dave, using your link saw a lot of great stuff including the new dozer variations from MiniArt but all I found on the SWB deuce was the cover art, box shot.
Would love to weigh in on the spru shots! Perhaps a more targeted link would get us closer?

OK, I found them! Definately appears HobbyBoss is using the same cab and fender spru as on their other deuce kits! Too bad.

The spru shots on the SWB have already been delegated to the "earlier posts" section of the Modeling News website.
Here's the link but scroll down a bit to find the photos.

Asking for reference help here:
It is my intent to build a model based on the photos below. I have been accumulating the necessary kits - so now I have the HobbyBoss L-4, and Italeri closed cab Deuce and just purchased another Tamiya open cab Deuce so I have everything I need!
What I don't have is good reference as to what the framing on the Piper cockpit should look like when the wings are removed or what the wing stem would look like when off the aircraft.
I have done my due diligence trying to Google photos of the Piper Grasshopper but the needed photos have not surfaced.
I could just cheat and cover the area with a cloth cover but I want to have it right even if the cockpit ends up under cover.
Photo below just found last night:
I don't think tying the tail off to the windshield wiper stems on top of the cab was such a good idea. Just saying . . . .

Here is one modern photo by Richard Adcock that shows me that the job ahead might be easier than I had feared. However I really would like to find some TM reference photos that would answer the question for true.

There is a WWII flyable Grasshopper right here in town for reference. It is located in the Kentucky Aviation Museum located at Bluegrass Field in Lexington, KY. Unfortunately I have never had the good fortune to see it with the wings off.

Hi Mike
Have you seen this thread ?
http://www.network54.com/Forum/433829/thread/1390361425/last-1390420319/Trucks+carrying+planes+photos
Another combo. Grasshopper + SWB CCKW circa 1942 :
Looks like some were a bit lazy
Wakde Island, Dutch New Guinea, August 1944 :
Full size
You can even load it with something faster than a L-2
H.P.

Thanks Frenchy, I knew I could count on you!
That whole area above the pilot's head is not nearly the massive structure I thought it would be but then I am not an airplane guy.

Here is a photo John Hale posted to Facebook showing his work on the new HobbyBoss CCKW fuel tanker truck. As you can see he has corrected the too short cab and overly long front fenders by substituting what I believe is an Italeri hard cab and fenders for the ones provided in the HB kit.
