Olivier,
Very nice looking vehicle. I think it came out great.
I'm colorblind as well so I understand adapting and getting someone to verify a color.

I'm sorry to hear that, Olivier! The model looks indeed great now, after applying the additional colors.
Are you going to prepare a base for it, as well? I'm interested as I'm about to start my first base, too
Cheers,
Cristian

Sorry Cristian, I won't help you for this as I stopped building vignettes or dioramas a long time ago. It takes too much room.

Hi guys, a small update from my workbench ...
105mm Gun
The barrel from the LEGEND update set is heavily warped an has a lot of resin casting blocks, so I didn't use it. The aluminium barrel from DEF looks much better.
The clamps/brackets for the thermal shroud are PE parts from DEF. But they annoyed me a lot so I used thin masking tape instead and enhanced them with springs made from 0.1 mm wire.
The dust cover .. I choose the DEF part because it was perfect casted without bubbles. A small problem occoured, in the end the cutout I had to made was a little bit too wide. So some support made from plastic sheet was glued into the turret. All the gaps were filled with magic sculpt.
My spare box spent some parts to detail the blister cover for the laser range finder on the right turret side. Neither DEF nor LEGEND upgrade sets incorporate this.
All other small parts for the turret were built up or cleand from the sprues (Mun Boxes, crosswind sensor mast, tow cables, etc.)
As usual I laid out all the parts to find out whats the best order for glueing on the turret.
Thanks for stopping by and happy modelling.
Walter
PS .. the wrong glued crosswind sensor mast will be fixed soon ;-)

Nice builds guys, they look great well done.
I'm going to run with the Bell H-13H as a medivac chopper in the Korean War as I didn't see any objection to it being a UN Policing Action!
Cheers

This looks absolutely awesome, Walter! The rear basket is also surprisingly good looking in styrene. Mine on the Italeri M60A1 ended up being a mess.

all,
some nice builds and WIP's being shown here.
Well I finally thought I'd better pull finger and make a start on my entry , heading down a slightly different route to the majority . Will be attempting to build the Minewolf 370 - something I had a play with while contracted to the UN, and this the 'pants packer':
Will be building in 50th scale so aside from stealing some tracks from a diecast all the rest will be scratch built.
I'll do an update once the model starts to become recognisable

I agree with Walter. The base is just calling for some weathering

@Roger: A very uncommon model, indeed! Looking forward to see more of that!
@Richard: This turned out looking excellent! The scratches might be a tad on the heavy side and the tires might require some dirt but the overall look is just great! Awesome job!

I want to share some pics from my progress so far.
For the UN markings I used selfmade spraymasks made from Oramask 810 with a Silhouette Portrait Cutter.
Actually I´m in the middle of the painting and weathering process.
First I painted a basecoat with flat white and some drops of earth color (Tamiya).
Then I paintes some details with fifty shades of acrylic white ;-)
Followed by a wash with P406 from Sin ... all over the model.
Now some Panelwash witg Track Wash from AK.
Some highlights and shadows with different oil colors.
Blending oils into the base color.
Now Microchipping with a sponge and acrylic colors.
Now the model looks like this ... still a lot of painting and weathering to do.
Thanks for watching and happy modelling.
cheers

More progress and finishing my M60A3.
Next step after micro-chipping in my painting process is painting streaks with enamel or oil-colors. After some minutes drying time blend them with white spirit.
After streaking effects I put on some pigments to the wheels, dozer-blade and lower hull. I use different earth colors.
Even black pigments are used on the engine grilles.
A serious desaster occured with the tracks. I used enamel based weathering products (AK, Ammo) to fix the pigments on the tracks. But the enamel products weakened the plastic of the AFV-Club single link tracks. When I tried to mount the tracks on the tank ... they creacked easily and broke in many different places. I was completely pixxxxed of. After that some modelling friends told me they had the same experience with using enamel products on plastic tracks. I´ll remember that for the future!
After that desaster I ordered metal tracks from friul and amssemled, painted and weathered the tracks again.
The friul tracks have different track types. They fit nicley around the sprocket ...
.. and they could be mounted without a desaster ;-)
The final assembly of the dozer blade was a little bit fiddly.
Last touches with a pencil to make "worn" metal parts.
Finally a tank commander figure was assembled (head from hornet, other parts from different figures). The head is only attached temporarily ... I´m still looking for a better upper part of the body with a better flack jacket type (non-vietnam style).
With the tank commander in place this M60A3 is finally finished.
Some final pictures:
Thanks for watching and have fun modelling un vehicles.
cheers

Walter very nice built, and impressive work of paint.
Bad for the AFV Club tracks, they were very nice made before you try to fit them on the wheels.
Friul tracks are perharps robust but difficult to built in my mind with all those little pins.

Great build Walter. Where did you find the UN flag. One will be needed for my entry into this campaign. Love all the builds so far. I need to start mine soon. I will need to practice weathering as I have never done any before. All my models have been finished show room condition.

@alex ... Glad you like it ... the friul M60 tracks are better in detail, but they are really heavy and always make a sag on the M60 what doesn't look nice.
@Darrell ... You are right, only with practice you can master a problem. I'm pretty sure you will master the weathering task!
I make my flags from normal office paper. I print both sides of the flag with an inkjet printer and glue them with UHU stick. While the glue hardens I make the "flutter" by fixing it between toothpicks or q-tips. Here you can find some photos how this was done on my UN Leclerc: http://armorama.kitmaker.net/features/3431&page=4
@Christian ... thx for your comment ... would be great to see another M60!
Cheers

Great M60 Walter !! It's a pity the AFV tracks went that wrong with the enamel wash. I never experienced such a disaster probably because I only use water-based products.
