Great result Christoffer! Love the amount of weathering on the tracks, roadwheels and lower hull, not too much and nice and wet looking. Not sure if I can get mine the same but that's what I'll aim for on my Panthers .....
cheers

Thank you very much guys :-D quite happy with it myself, especially considering how little experience I have with painting 1:35 kits :-p prefer my 1/100 scale hehe, but it has been a great build.

Christoffer,
Excellent job on that Panther. Just the right amount of chipping and dirt. Nice work

Ok, got my 1/72nd Panthers (well the first lot) finished last night, along with the 251's I was doing to accompany them. Reasonably happy with how they turned out, a few things I'd change and improve on next time on my own ones, like using OKB resin tracks for the spares/stowage if nothing else.
A few campaign pics here and I'll post some more up later in a combined thread along with the rest of the Ardennes battlegroup ....
cheers
Brent

And the disc camo . . . sort of happy, not sure really lol.

cheers

Lots of good progress and finished builds in this thread. That's great!
Update on my Panther Ausf. F:

Engine deck is almost complete. Struggling a bit with the photo etch tube that goes on the side of the hull. Not sure what it is called, but I guess it is the storage for the barrel cleaning tools?
Anyways, turret is next up on my agenda.

Awesome Panthers (and king tiger), Brent. They look great - especially considering the scale.

G'day Vegard
Yes, the tube on the side of the hull is storage for barrel cleaning rods, as well as spare antennae. I know how hard to assemble they can be.
They were only light weight sheet metal, so frequently looked a bit battered and bent, and late in the war, some Panthers relocated them to the rear of the engine deck.
Hope this helps.

Hi all,
Well it's time for me to jump in and get cracking on the kit. Still waiting on some after market goodies that will arrive next week. I hope to concentrate on this build and push it out quickly.

Joe, great build! Love the hard edged camo. It looks awesome. It might be the pictures, but it seems that there are differences int he shine of different parts of the jagdpanther. You can seal everything with a flat coat of varnish, unless it is intentional.
Great build in any case! Thanks for participating.

Really nice job on the JP Joe!!!
Jesper - I think the "gloss" may just be the flash/lighting related. Even with a good matt coat a flash will still add a little shine to the paintwork ....
cheers

Yes, but it does not seem to be an even shine. Anyway, probably just some photo effect. As I pointed out earier a great build in any case.

Guys,
Thanks for the kind words. I did not put any coating on the vehicle, it does have a very slight sheen in some areas that gets exacerbated by the flash (dang it... have to keep working on photo skills)...
It will be going into a dio that will be winter 1945 and a very cold and wet retreat from the ardennes. I'm going to see how I like the look when I put it into the dio and will adjust the sheen accordingly.
One thing I will share with you that I learned from this build. MIG has a wash that is a cold wash .. pretty much a bluish/greyish wash. It really did the trick in cooling down the otherwise warm colors on this piece of armor. I'd recommend it for those looking for that effect.

Joe Osborne

@Rob: Thanks for the clarification.
@Joe: You need to diffuse the direct light to reduce the sheen on your model. The easiest way to achieve this is to place a thin white cloth in front of the light source, eg. a "light tent".
Progress update on my Panther Ausf. F:
Turret is 95% done and the rest of the model is pretty much complete. Made a few mistakes during the tube assembly, gluing them together wrong.
Next up is the tracks which are Spade Ace and I hope they won't be much trouble.

WARNING - Panther Purists please avert your eyesManaged to spend a bit of quality time with my interpretation of a WWII Panther

. Still a fair bit to do.
Based on a caricature found on the web so this is a
caricature/SD (seriously deformed)/NS (no scale) build.
If the Campaign Leader considers this doesn't fit the Campaign criteria I have no objections to withdrawing this from the Campaign

:

Wheels are from an Airfix 1/76th Panther.

AAAGGGHHHHH.... My eyes, my beautiful eyes! Seriously, why not. It is a fun little project. Obviously it is up to the campaign leader, but does not hurt anyone.

@Roger--That is really cool! there are 'egg planes', so why not 'egg tanks'?! If there isn't already a line of them being produced anywhere you could start your own cottage industry.
@All--there are too many fantastic completed builds and in-progress kits to comment on, sooo...huzzah! And drinks all around...

I've finally gotten back to my build.
The magic tracks are painted and installed. The yellow rust looks a bit bright in the pic:

And some rain/water weathering streaks(shown w/out the side skirts):

Usually a layer of dullcoat tones down the rust and the rain streaks, hopefully it will on this one too.
What's left are: spare tracks, tools, clamps, weathering, and such.
