There are some scratch parts like the front windows - the part from the kit box is missing so..

Got some time in over the weekend. Glued up the suspension and various bits. I also had fun detail painting with a mag visor. It's such a treat to have one along with a set of files...

Again, nice work everyone!!

I've admitted defeat on the SAS desert jeep, I'm just not going to get there for some reason. However, nothing ventured, nothing gained; so I started this on Saturday:

 photo 20160521_164317_zps5xt3eqek.jpg

This is going to be plain vanilla, out-of-the-box, 101st Airborne, 506th PIR, Band of Brothers (which I have playing while I build). By the end of the day on Sunday I had the chassis together and the engine built and painted. Next weekend is a three day Memorial Day weekend here in the States and I'm betting I can get 'er done!

Hi Michael,

Pity that it may be left unfinished. A couple of days extension may help you, and everyone else. Yes, that includes laggards like me as well

Cheers,

Tat

Thank you, Damian. Very much appreciate the kind words. This was my first wheeled vehicle to build and I enjoyed it. I'll be doing many more wheeled vehicles in the future.

Hi, Folks! I'm about as late to the game as one can get, but I got handed this on Saturday as part of an airfield diorama our modeling club is doing for the local Military Aviation Museum. Pending approval from the campaign leader I'd like to jump in with Italeri's 1/72 scale pair of jeeps as the basis for an airfield "Follow Me" jeep. Here's the kit with one of the two jeeps basically unstarted:

Here's the Jeep I started on Sunday:

Still need to do washes fabricate the FOLLOW ME sign and create a checkered flag that hangs off the back, but with luck I might just be able to get it doen before time runs out on this campaign! Never done anything in 1/72 before and it is proving quite a challenge!

Hey there..

That one looks great Dustin. like what you have done with the effects..

Here is a pic of mine.. its almost finished just a couple of small things left.. Windscreen is still MIA... prob ate by a cat. I went for an used overall dusty effect.. and various shades of weathered green..

by the way Steve.. want to know how many times I have knocked the side mirror off.... .....so be careful there too... delicate..

I should have this in the can by this weekend.. LOL

It will be perfect to delay the campaign for one week. I'll need it.

Haha, oh yes. Delbert, I knocked my side mirror off once, and put it back in the box. I'm not going to risk losing it the next time it gets flicked away.

I love the weathering on your jeep too. How'd you do it?

And... my plans to put in some figures (supplied in the kit) have changed for obvious reasons.

lol.. I think I broke mine off about 5 times..got to love super glue.

on this build I went with a base coat of basic olive drab
Then a top down spraying of lightened olive drab....
then I spray the underside allowing some over spray along the sides and back of Ak interactive Dust Effects (Ak 015)
then I heavily weathered it logically using AK's European Earth Pigments AK-042..
then a flat coat which toned down a bit of the pigments and then touched up with some more pigments where needed.. so far so good..

I am a real fan of Dusty.. lol I think different tones give an olive drab model some wow factor..

still got some to do. by the way thats the reason I left the figures in the box too. maybe someday I'll find a use for them...

by the way I don't think the kit decals look the greatest.. so if you have others I'd go for it.. (mine didn't seem to want to stick..)

I'd be willing to extend for a couple of weeks, with John's permission of course.
