Hi Jerry ,
i'm with the others , the way you paint those figures is amazing and every new item is a masterpiece . Carry one i'd say !
Kurt
Thanks Kurt,
I think what I am trying to think about is the space on the planned base. It has been a long time now since I did a dry run and placed everything on the base. I need to do that or there may not be room enough for some of these figs. I don't want to do the work and also the strain on my eyes painting something that won't be used.

First off Tim,
Thanks for "de-lurking" and I appreciate it buddy.
The tail and the mane and the harness will all be scratched like the horses I did in my Falaise dio that is in the Gallery on this site. I had to do some putty work first on my equine friend before I did the rest. I should get to it today. Eye probs over the last few days have slowed things down a lot.

Got the new head faired in. also added some ribs and some other tweeks like the nostrils and such.
put a base coat on the cart and started on the harness as well.
the primer shows things off better. I went for a cheap farmers' harness wit not much metal being used. I still need to add the hook up for the carts' "trees".
Thanks for looking in,

The Ribs are a nice touch. Should of thought of that a few months back when I was working on my cart.

What size will this dio be when finished? I cant remember if you've shown plans of the groundwork yet. As always, inspiring stuff. Keep 'em coming

I am currently thinking of resurrecting my old village scene to use instead of starting fresh with groundwork/base,etc. Si it will be kinda big maybe 2 by 3 feet ?

Maybe you should do that Jerry and if there's not enough space , take a bigger base . Every figure that you create and paint deserves to be add to the scene. If not it would be a waste of time and a hard choice to select which figure you add and which not ...
Just my thought ...

Kurt and Cheyenne,
No worries mates, there will be room for everything I can assure you! I won't do all that work on a fig just to not use it somehow ! LoL.
I started to load up the cart with resin and putty cargo.
Light coat of primer on top
A few resin bits were used that were meant to be sitting on the ground so I just added a bit of putty to make them conform to their new home. The rolled up mattress is all putty though.

I painted up the cart. Some firsts for me were the persian rug made from putty that has two tassels on it and the rolled up putty mattress. I was also happy with the paint scheme on the small suitcase which I copied from one my Mom had from the 40s. The weathered look on the cart came from a cool paint set I bought when Avenel Hobbies closed. It is from MIG.
Have a look-see fellas.
I am getting stoked again by this project. I suppose I still like a challenge.

Beautiful paint work again buddy . Would it be a great idea to use a dark sheet of paper as underground or base for your pictures ?? I like the dark background .
I'm not criticizing you what so ever but the colors will pop up like flowers in spring time
And this work of yours deserves it !

Once again you are spot on in your bringing these items to life! I especially like the faded flowers on the side of the cart...a cool touch for sure!
Do what you love, and love what you do... then everything else is simply an extension of that which drives your heart.

Hi Jerry - this just keeps getting more interesting! I'm really looking forward to seeing your base - the 2' x 3' pltaform will be great - it should be plenty of room for your convoy plus lots of room for context - wow! This is gonna be great!!
Cheers

Have another tall stack of WOW's from the cheep seats!! The rough boards on the cart look perfect and righteously weathered.
Got any pots, pans or other kitcheny stuff to toss in there? Seems like it would have some loose stuff tucked in here or there.

Looking good Jerry , cart's awesome , can you do a mock up with the buildings you made ?
The half timber with the arch , that rocks .
I know it's a pain cause of the time it takes but I'm looking forward to that scene.

@Kurt-Thanks for the kind words buddy. I should put more effort into the pics but as these are in progress pics I don't bother that much
@Dave-Thanks as always for your continued support,I always appreciate it and look forward to you getting back at the bench as well.
@Nick-Yep,it'll be a big one. I am already wondering where in the heck I will store it,and then in the usual way, when I throw it in the trash after it sits on the shelf for a few months !
@Phil-C'mon man, these are GERMANS ! Those pots and pans and crockery are all properly stored in the wicker basket. We must be neat and orderly ! Lol Nice suggestion though and thanks for the generous comments buddy.
@Cheyenne-I am kind of divided about the thought of doing a mock-up. I don't want to ruin the "big reveal"? Hahaha There are few surprises left in this as it is. Thanks man and now get back to building your empire !
Thanks guys for typing in the excellent comments and as always thanks lurkers !

Hi Jerry,
Beautiful piece — even stand-alone! As already said, the faded flowers are a really nice touch. I always like how you spring these little surprises on us! And of course, I look forward to that "big reveal!"

Nice mattress and the wood grain on that luggage has been stored in my brain for a future project.

Dear Sir,
Your build gets more interesting every day!
And, as the count shows, it keeps bus loads of modellers busy following your representation of a very miserable phase in WW2, as hundreds of thousands German civilians fled in large 'trecks' to stay out of the Russian Army's attacks on the capital of all the evil, Berlin. Mixed with fallen apart WH, SS and WL units without clear orders or leadership.
Respect the way you know how to catch this chaos.
Will there be a high-official's pkw and it passengers as well?
I dare to ask since you show to be a multi gifted modeller, who doesn't seem to have any limitation....
Waiting for the next Jerry show!

Thanks Mike,
I did the flowers as a trial and they didn't come out too bad. I was trying to figure out how to show an old old weather beaten cart with faded wood but one that used to be painted. It is still beyond my knowledge how to get to that point so I tried this. These is a famous German railroad modeler that I am trying to get as good as,Marcel is his name and he has the old wood look perfectly done on all of his landscapes. I will hopefully get better as I go.
@Greg,
Thanks buddy for the nice comments. The suitcase was from the 1940s and like one my Mom owned. It was plywood covered in herringbone pattern cloth with leather edging. I tried to capture that but woodgrain works just as well. Thanks !
@Paul,
Thanks for the very generous remarks Paul. You described the scene perfectly in the last weeks of the war as the beast slithered to a halt. Regular folks from all over Europe were caught up in events and not always bad,but mostly so.
A famous saying in Germany in this time was "Enjoy the war, because the peace will be very bad".

Jerry,
Double dittos for all the kudos so far. The cart is another masterpiece in itself. You are not just an excellent modeler, you are an artist, telling a story in your preferred medium, plastic. You are combining all the human emotions in this piece. The fear of an approaching enemy, the hopelessness of knowing the war is lost, the relief of knowing it's almost over, the joy of surviving hell on earth, and the apprehension of what's coming next.
Thank you for taking us on this journey and sharing your thoughts with us.

Wow John, very very kind words.Thank you very much.
I am very happy you got all of those feelings from these little plastic folks. I m getting kinda worried some of the individual stuff might lost in the crowd after all this gets put together. That was the big reason i made sure I posted each fig individually as it was completed.

Just crazy good. I don't know how you keep all this going at such a pace but it is like reading a serial novel or a daily cartoon with a story line.
There is a documentary in here somewhere about your guys. Anyone know an up and coming film student that needs a subject? I can be the producer!
My gosh, Jerry... I was talking about this with my GF and the way home the other day when she was talking about figure building. I told her "Aw, you haven't seen anything until you see my friend, Jerry with his army, literal army of figures!"
Keep 'em coming!
