Hey Jerry....
Wow, stunning stuff, figures look great......, great technique you've got, well done!
Got these 'Stalingrad' figures in the pipeline for my new current project..., but will have my work cut out to be close to matching your high standards....., and then you go and even put some fur on the dog......!!!!, should I even bother, oh dear, you've raised the bar!
The 'Stalingrad' figs do have some crisp detail to them, and you've picked out all of that detail beautifully, the faces really have some emotion to them.
It's great to see your people coming along one by one...., and when they eventually all take there place in the scene they'll look fantastic. Looking forward to seeing how they all find there place, and the interactions taking place...
Keep up the good work

Simon.

Dear Jerry ,

please don't say number 41 and 42 , these figures are so much lifelike that it is almost impossible for me to realise that they are made from plastic .

I'm sure you know the story of Pinochio and its creator the old man Giuseppe .... oh boy one day .....

True magic my friend ....

@Simon-thanks for the outstanding words of encouragement buddy ! You will love painting the Stalingrad figs. They almost seem to paint themselves. I look forward to your posts here.

@Kurt- I am very humbled by your comments my good buddy and it's always nice to hear from you. As I wrote on your blog,I hope you keep posting here as I look forward to your unique dios and photos very much as I am sure others do as well. I wish more folks would respond on here as it is the thing I like the most. I am sure you are the same way. If you want Kurt to keep posting folks please chime in and let him know on his thread ?

Here is number 43 or ,for Kurts' sake I will call him Franz.

I am actually seeing light at the end of this long figure tunnel I challenged myself to dig.

Herr Franz ist wunderbar! He looks like he is glancing suspiciously of someone who may be trying to see what he is reaching for inside his coat???

Awesome work on all the numbered villagers!

Thanks for the kindness guys. Kurt,You are a valued poster here and I for one would like to see you continue.
Same as the other guys that post on here. Nice to see a lot of participation with all of the dios and vignettes, etc.
Here is Brigitte, number 44 and wearing everything she owns so it's easier to carry. Stalingrad figgie.

Not much of an update. Not so much progress this past week.

Great looking figure! The suitcase actually seems to be bulging from overpacking — entire load looks convincingly weighty!
Nice work on the hair too!

Hi Jerry - I have to disagree with you. This is one heck of an update! Wow....you've really outdone yourself on this figure - I hope when all is done, she is in a prominent place, and not lost in the big collection of Jerry's finest! As I recall, these figures will be placed on a fairly large base, which I think is good - these figures are each far to nice to be "lost" among one another, and other fine elements you have, and are still pulling together.

Thanks for posting!
Cheers

Thanks man,
It was a nice break for me to not have to re-position these Stalingrad figs and just paint them. They are so well sculpted they almost paint themselves! The time I usually spend on getting a plastic fig ready I can then spend on just painting and adding a bit more finesse.
But I will soon be back to re-posing figs,

First off Nick, nice to see you back! And thanks for the very generous comments as well. Your dio is just blowing my mind and it keeps inspiring me to go further. Well,as far as I can anyway ! LoL
I know what you mean about this one fading into the scene but I am optimistic about that. Most of the figs so far are all in the back of the truck and this latest one isn't. There aren't that many on the ground so far and I think it will be OK.
We'll see. I can always expand the base ! ? No worries.

Crazy good effort on Frau Brigitte, Jerry. Love how worn her boots look. Love her hair. Love the subtle, varied greens in the handbag beside the suitcase. How you keep them so straight I'll never know...or duplicate, I'm sure!

Looks great Jerry! Keep on truckin good sir...

Jerry,
Brigitte is another stunner. This just keeps getting better and better. Each figure, whether in the truck or on the ground are telling their own story in the way you've painted and posed them. I'm really looking forward to how you position them to interact in your dio.
You are a master artist.

Dave and John,
Thanks so much guys for the very very generous comments. I can't take any credit for the Stalingrad figures as far as the pose goes. They were that nice right out of the box !
I really appreciate you typing something in here guys.

Hello Jerry, been MIA for a while and just got caught up on your fantastic progress. I know its been said but I'll say it once again. I think that one of the biggest challenges of working on this scale or any for that matter is the construction of figures. The painting is another even more changeling aspect to bring these figures to life. It requires a skill and vision plus lots of research on getting the color tones, shades, and colors to work. You my friend have a tremendous skill set and do wonderful work on your figures. Thanks for sharing your work with us. I have very little to zero experience on figures but will always reference your builds to better prepare and achieve hopefully similar or close to results. As they say, practice and more practice can only make you better. LOL I have about 30 plus figures to work on for my project so practice I will have. However, the results might not be what I'll be hoping for but I'm certain that they will be pleasant to the eye and complete to project nicely. Till next time, take care & keep on building.

Wow man,
Thanks for the excellent words of encouragement brother. Welcome back as well.
I do not envy you doing all of those modern cammo uniforms that is for sure. The WSS stuff is difficult enough but the new digital patterns are just about impossible for me to pull off. You sure will get the practice though if you have that many to build and paint.
It's how you get to Carnegie Hall, isn't it?

I started undertaking the next grouping of figs. These are from PluModel and I think are supposed to be refugees from southern France or maybe even gypsies. The two adults have crinkled skirts and embroidered jackets in that style and one was sculpted with fur high boots with laces. I changed both to wearing regular shoes and boots and partially filled the one ladies' skirt to make it appear more like a regular piece of apparel. The young girls' head was tilted forward and I am in the process of giving her more hair and also making that hair conform to the new pose. The cargo in the wagon was also blended into the setting with a bit of putty as the fit was not too good there.

An older set but all and all not too bad.

Smallish update. I got the farm wagon done and the exhausted girl on top finished up as well. They should fit in nicely.

Wow Jerry,
This latest group are excellent. I may have missed it in an earlier post but what are you using to make the disheveled hair for the lady with the bag and the girl on the wagon. It really looks life-like. Which is obviously the intent I know. Just curious. Keep it up. Happy New Year!
