@Patrick-thanks buddy for the excellent comments. I can't recal any figs with ball caps other than some ancient Verlindon figs that were photogs and reporters and maybe some newer ones in 1/32 from ZM that are USAAF groundcrew.
@Karl-thanks as always bubba for your excellent "read" on the new guy and the ongoing work on the refugees family. I am keeping fingers crossed about how this one will go.

I actually used to be a mfg firm but for resin airplane kits and parts. Ten years was a long time to smell that resin.
This is much easier and more gratifying for me but it doesn't pay any bills,that's for sure.

Some of those Preiser figs are not bad at all and just needed some clean up and a bit off under cutting,etc while some are pretty useless. The seated lady has gigantic shoes on but I figured you can't really see them that well where she is so I let them be. She could be wearing army boots I suppose? I have seen refugee pics showing that.

A shout out to ya'll and thanks for the collective kick in my fourth point of contact. I have been building but not posting. It's complicated and involves real life so....
I did get this pic done. On the left is a Preiser fig with a lot of undercutting,reposing of the right arm and almost completed re-posing of the left hand,to grip the canvas brace in the truck. The left hand chickie is from the MB "french resistance" set. I have her in wehrmacht mens' pants as seen in a few pics I have. So I made them nice and baggy. She has a luftwaffe shirt and is carrying her jacket. I think I got her looking pretty "40's" in style. I see now from this cringingly enlarged pic all the work I still need to do,like add ears?

She has the pants with the elastic false belt. The pocket flaps,watch pocket flap and belt loops are lead sheet and the buckle is PE from AM. Trousers and jacket are putty. I also see some weird lumps on grammas' face. Needs a bit of dremel.

It is mostly an illusion. The older lady has a slightly smaller head. I just measured it. The illusion is from the kerchief flat against her head whilst the younger lady has "big hair" ala 1940s or 1980s for that matter.

Not all of the people in this crew are sad or whatever. Some have decided to make the best of a bad situation! There was a popular saying at this time in Germany "enjoy the war as the piece will be so much worse". They knew the Russians were closing in.
New characters,
This is a Tamiya guy and he is really nice OOB with clean up and under cutting. He still needs putty. I removed some markings as he will become a Luftwaffe ground maint. First Sergeant. He is from the updated field kitchen set from Tamiya and all the included figs are quite nice in that set for plastic figs.
And his new "girlfriend" a Luftwaffe helferinnen. They will both get cigarettes when they are further along. Have a look,
The cast keeps growing!

Here is something for Patrick,who wanted a small "how-to" on figure mods.
First pic shows an innocent guy from the Dragon set of Normandy radiomen.
Second pic shows the effects of my dremel tool with rotary bit on the poor guy,along with some under cutting to start his transformation into a Luftwaffe troopy wearing the standard airforce jacket. He will be smoking a pipe and so has received a brilliant Hornet head reflecting that activity.
Third pic shows the first application of two part epoxy sculpt. He got his missing right sleeve end and the beginnings of his pipe,also the missing crotch of his pants,filled in the various gaps in his arms and wrist and made his left hand hanging from an open pocket. The flap will be added from lead foil later when dry and sanded.
When all this has dried it will be sanded,etc and then the hat and hair added and PRESTO,he is a changed man.

I always love the little how-to bits, really helps. And reminds me that I need a dremel tool. Pretty sure I already said this, but I love the different emotions everyone in the truck has.
