@John-you may be right but then again,I have seen lots of videos and pics for proof that this position happened a lot!
@Mike-thanks as always buddy for taking the time to make such nice comments
@Chris- yes, sometimes I do find this kind of hobby to be very cathartic and in fact I will save some boring repitious task to do when I am upset so it takes my mind away from whatever the problems d'juer are.
@@Kurt-thanks for the kind words about the furry friends buddy. Sorry for your loss. I understand perfectly but what is this talk about your parents outliving you? I hope you are not serious?
@Phil- Not worthy? Never think that way buddy. You are always worthy and thanks for the generous comments as well.

All you lurkers, thanks for the hits! I appreciate it. I was hoping to get more today but SWMBO has the day off and that means honey do day. Later!

What can i say that hasnt been said before. Top work on the figures as always. How do you decide how much of the figure to build/assemble before painting. Im forever kicking myself wishing Id left an arm or head off to have better access for painting.

Jerry
Yet another masterpiece is on the way from you. Not only do you produce some top quality figures, but theideas in your dioramas are always very original and very well thought out.
Always a pleasure to see your excellent work.

For Jerry or anybody else that may know. Why, in so many videos and pictures of the German's surrendering in convoys are there soldiers riding on the front fenders. I thought I read somewhere that this was to show that they were not a threat, but I have no idea where I saw that.
Thanks in advance, -CT

Thanks guys,for the excellent comments

@Paul- I like to put the whole guy together before painting. I then see if there is a part that will interfere with painting another part and remove it until the proper time. This is usually the helmet or other head gear. Sometimes an arm, etc.

@Jacob-Thanks for the generous remarks. I think the force behind my unusual subjects is from building or looking at models for decades. I am now kind of"jaded" and like to build stuff not usually seen. When I was a musician I liked playing stuff that was out of the ordinary. When I visit a country or town,I like going to the "non tourist" places. So I suppose I hear that different drummer?

@Chris- The fender riders in the West were usually air guards looking for the constant Jabo threat. At the wars' end they were just piling onto the increasingly rare transportation. You can see a film on Utube of them surrendering in Czech. and every truck is piled high. It beats walking!

Also, Thanks again lurkers!

Hi Jerry - nice work as always! The fact that you've captured so many subtle twists on the human (plastic!!) bodies continues to both impress and frustrate!! I haven't figured out how you can achieve compound curves, that don't look like compound angles. For example, the arm of the passengers, resting out the window, or, the outstretched arm of the guy in the middle...wow...or even more subtle, the torso on all three - you've got them twisting in six different directions - as they would in real life - wow again - and, the fact that all three appear to be "sitting together" and not "placed" together.

I'm sure you're cranking away on their shirts - pockets, seams, buttons - And, I'm sure that will look great too!!! Always a good show, and as always, thanks for the WIP photos. Sorry to be slow in getting to comment. Work has been a bit more challenging, or shall we say "process rich" than I might like!!! Audits, project updates, oh, and actual project work!! But, today is Saturday! I am working on a presentation, but this is certainly a nice distraction!!

Looking forward to see the next episode!
Cheers
Nick

Very thoughtful things to write my friend! I feel the same way about how you crank out those awesome vehicles and buildings seemingly overnight!
I was at the Valley Forge figure show today and here is the stuff I aspire to but never quite attain. Things like this

Just blows my mind.

Got some work done on the "fender bender "guy. Added a greatcoat, hat and chest eagle(army),buttons and a wound badge. Also added putty to better conform him to the fender. Have a peek

Also another app. of putty to the three amigos, adding detail dremeled off by the re-posing. Still needs some bits added but they do work well together??

Thanks for keeping up with this one all you commenters and lurkers. It may drag out some as it is pretty complicated.!!

Jerry, this just keeps getting better and better, all the creativity on the individual figures AND they all work together, like they all originally came from the same manufacturer for the same purpose (not creations from your Frankenfigure workshop!) (that's meant in a good way, though it probably doesn't read like that....)
Once you start applying paint this is going to be truly epic, and having seen your other work that's saying something
And if my missus saw a haul of heads like that after a show, well, let's say I might be sharing floor space with the dog...

Thanks buddy, I do try. I was just thinking it has really been a while since I painted anything. I will have to start that learning curve all over again.
I used to have a Missus but now have a girlfriend instead. Much easier arrangement.

You are correct! I think most of that can be fixed by carving some of the correct angle under his wrist. I am not too picky with the three amigos as they will barely be seen through the windows. His wrist will not be seen at all from this angle.

Nice work Jerry.

The guy on the fender looks good, and the greatcoat is a nice addition (it gets a bit draughty, I guess....)

The cab guys look like they get on well. Did you have to shorten them much to fit the roof? Apologies if you've mentioned this in a previous post).

Re the Hornet heads/show purchases.... when I go to shows (which is rarely) my long-suffering girlfriend comes along. I have a budget, and as long as I stick to this she doesn't mind what I get. She's long past the stage where she's surprised that something small costs so much.

As others have stated, I too look forward to seeing your updates, they are an inspiration.

Cheers

Thanks buddy, for checking in and having a look-see. The guys all fit under the roof, yes. I always go for a rough fit before I begin detailing so I don't waste effort.
Thanks for the kind words and be thankful you are with an understanding companion!!!

Hello there Jerry, the progress done to all the figures here are top notch and amazing. I love all the extra measures and additional steps taken to achieve that realistic look on them. Very talented work as always, thanks for sharing.

Another great progress my friend. I like the cramped poses of cabin guys so much.

Hornet heads are great and irresistable to buy.

Keep safe

Joaquin,Kimmo and Engin,
Wow,how cool do those names sound together? Nice. International mix is one of the great perks on this website.
Thanks gents for the kind words but no...no discount!! I paid full price for the Hornet stuff but the good thing was no shipping charge.
I put more putty on the three amigos and they are now ready for paint along with the interior of the cab. Man o man I hope I remember how to paint.

Wow! Simply put, everything that everyone else has already stated: Great idea, execution, and naturally for you Jer, a presentation w/ a classy touch of individuality... or something along those lines

Recently haven't been able to tune in as often as I would like, but I'll be following more closely in anticipation of the painting stage. Thanks for creating this Jerry!

Cheers

Hi Jerry, I am glad to see that you are still plugging along with your latest dio. I really look forward to your latest update. Do you only use the #11 blades to undercut the figures,or do you use anything else to do it? I for one would really appreciate a short SBS on your methods if you can find the time LOL. I usually use stock figures with replacement resin heads, and I have tried sharpening up the details with the blade and a scriber. I only get slight improvements though, not as good as yours turn out. Keep up the great work Jerry, this will surely turn out to be another stunner. Also Jerry I read of your loss within your pet family, I offer my deepest condolences on that loss. As someone with 3 dogs and 2 cats, I know how profound that loss is felt within the entire family. Best regards....Dale

Good progress. One small comment on the middle guy in the cab. I think you have the wrist bend way too proximal to where it should be...
