You got a lot further on yours Shell, than I did my Italeri version. I just couldn't stand the poor fit of hatches, etc. Looking good.

This is the Italeri kit reboxed by Tamiya. Other than the figure, decals, and metal barrel I don't think they changed it at all. The hatches are still a bit gappy and it took some clean-up that Tamiya's own kits normally don't need.

Hello all,
status report: I am more than happy with the deadline extension: now it seems that I can finish my Panzer IV... After spending ~10 hours with assembling the Miniart replacement tracks (I recommend it with reservations: VERY time consuming but looks nice when done, but...) I am ready with the build and now the model is primed. I have two weeks for painting and weatherin - considering some holiday I hope that will be enough.
cheers,
Zsolt

Looks fantastic Zsolt. Glad to see you will finish on time.

Thanks for reminding me, I needed to post my finished pics to the gallery - Chain for rear is AWOL.

Yes, I am too old and too stupid for this. I punched "simplified view" without noticing it and thought that staff changed something. And deleted the avatar photo... So, I will stick with this one from now.

Peter - I love the Char, it came out well. I hope to tackle one of those myself in the near future.

Zsolt - How is your Panzer IV coming along? It looks great in primer.

We're getting close to the gong now, just a few day left. Remember to get some pictures of the completed model in the gallery before the end of the year.

I was very sorry to miss out myself on this campaign. An impending move dictated other uses for my time and I even had to pack away partially completed models, tools & supplies. Ah well, next year sometime!

I declare myself done. This is of course the Tamiya repop of the Italeri kit. It is OOB with no effort beyond relaxing and having fun rather than produce a medal winner. Weathering is very minimal to represent a relatively new vehicle.

Good morning to all of you,
Just in the last minute I can upload the finished model's photos.

As I uploaded them I just saw that my newly tried subtle dusting (no pigments just earth tone colors with airbrush) is not visible on the photos... in reality I was afraid of overdoing (especially on the undercarriage) but it is hardly visible.
The hatches are not glued as I selected some crew members from the stash - I'd like to spend my 2020 focusing more on figures.
Happy new year to you all!
cheers,
Zsolt

Sweet Shell, just made it.

Looks great Zsolt. I always use a blue background for my pics as it is usually the best all round base colour to photograph against.

Thanks a lot I used blue background also but with OD and dunkelgelb vehicles it turned the color too yellowish... but for grey I'll use it next time

A tip on photographing OD and Gelb vehicles - have something red in one corner and crop the photo later. There is a technical reason but just say, the red gives the camera something to base its recorded colour on and will give you a more true to life colour.

We have reached to end of France 1940. Thanks to all who completed models for this campaign. Everyone please make sure you have posted a few pics of your model to the campaign gallery. I'll use that to award the ribbons shortly.

My impending move precluded getting a model built myself & I would love to have another France 1940 in a year or so. We will see if there is any interest in a part 2 at that time.

Everyone should have their ribbons now, if I have missed you please ping me!

Look for a France 1940/2 in a year or so. We'll see if we can make it as good as this one has been. Thanks to all who participated!
